The best restaurant I’ve been to in Nashville, hands down. The menu was overwhelmingly amazing and hard to make a decision. The meal, from drinks, apps, and dinner were out of this world. The beer can chicken was especially delicious. And the staff was super friendly. We will be back!

What an amazing dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is great with low lighting and candles. But without being stuffy. The food was fantastic, with a consistent vibe through all courses of blending flavors without being overly complicated. We started with the bacon wrapped quail with dates that was the perfect combination of sweet, salty, and fatty. I had the lamb duo. Both servings of lamb were rare as they should be, the little spicy lamb burger with ginger was particularly amazing. My boyfriend had The beef filet with mashed potatoes on the side. You would think a beef filet would be rather straightforward, but the seasoning and sauce was just perfection and made it really exceptional. We had macaroons for dessert, since neither of us are big sweet people, it was the perfect amount of not too sweet dessert to finish the meal.

My wife and I heard so much about 5th& Taylor, we wanted to give it a try. We ordered the Bibb salad and seafood soup for starters, both were tasty and well presented. For our dinner, my wife ordered the beef filet and I tried the Zabuton steak. My wife told our waiter that she preferred a pink steak, and he said medium plus. When it arrived, it was a medium rare. There wasn’t any follow up on how the steaks were prepared, disappointed. I did enjoy the Zabuton steak. We thought the mashed potatoes were very runny and no big deal, I guess that’s because we always prepare home made at home. The cauliflower dish was good. My wife ordered a 2nd glass of wine that the waiter forgot about. The dining experience was good but we missed the wow factor. I prefer to go to Etch.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at 5th and Taylor, recommended by some local friends. Y’all, it was AMAZING! We started with the sausage cheddar biscuits, Yum! Our entrée was a melt in your mouth, oh so tender beer chicken and duck– a must try with a side of mashed potatoes! We will be back…

Start to finish, one of the most enjoyable meals I’ve had in a long time. What we ordered: Bacon wrapped quail and the potato skins to start. 2nd course: two of us ordered the Bibb lettuce salad and two had the lobster bisque. Entrees: fried chicken with the honey chili sauce, beef cheek pot roast, the venison and the duck. Dessert: the Elvis moonpie(not on the menu, just ask) and the macarons. Who ate & what it cost: 4 adults, 2 children(ages 10&7). With drinks & tax=$ 300. Def on the upper end of a dinner spend, esp with our kids in tow – but we were visiting from out of town and wanted a special dinner. Note: there is no kids menu. My 10 yo ordered the burger and my 7 yo ordered a small cheese plate and a side of the sweet potatoes with bourbon meringue. Highlights: Is it lazy to just say«everything?» Everything. Every person at our table raved on everything they tasted. The atmosphere was warm and candlelit with modern touches and comfy seating. They’ve done a great job of making a very large space feel intimate. Waitstaff were all very cool and collected, everything seemed to have a rhythm and a flow. This is hipster heaven and every single person on staff seems to look the part. Our server, Connor, was more gracious and helpful than I expected a server to be. Very patient with our indecision looking over the abundant menu choices. For me, the biscuit that came on the lobster bisque with an artful butter smear, the zing & tenderness of the honey chili chicken and the glory of the moonpie are fork moments that will haunt me in the best way possible. In summary: I love eating well and trying out new chefs and restaurants. This is something I do a good bit. I am tiring of chefs who seem to have forgotten that the point of nurturing people with food is to be… nurturing. I am weary of the trend that says food has to be a certain brand of weird to be exciting. I am craving a return to a restaurant experience that marries exceptionally well-prepared and tasty food, gracious service and a cozy vibe that makes you want to linger and savor everything. 5th& Taylor met me there and we had a little private restaurant/patron wedding last night. And many happy returns…

When we were greeted by the hostess, she did not make eye contact, but was looking at a computer screen instead. The ambiance is unique and creates an intimate atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. The food items were delicious! I wasn’t a fan of the chairs used for the tables along the wall. Made our dinner feel like we were at a wedding venue or office interview.

I was given a gift card for Christmas. Looking at the menu, I had already decided I would not like this place, but because I had the gift card, I went. Wow, am I glad I did! This was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long, long time. To make it even better, our server was incredible. She didn’t try to upsell like a lot of restaurants do these days, but when asked, she gave solid suggestions. The duck wing appetizer was phenomenal. I could’ve eaten it as an entrée. The onion-bacon tart was also good. The beef zabuton was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The mashed potatoes were creamy, the real thing. Overall, just an excellent meal. I highly recommend.

I celebrated my birthday at 5th& Taylor on Jan. 17. It was amazing! Loved the restaurant itself and the service from start to finish was top notch! Our waitress Kelli was perfect for a group like us. The beef tartar is not to be missed. Also, for dessert I had the«off the menu» Elvis Moonpie. It was everything and more! I highly recommend this place!

Wow! What a truly spectacular meal! I was lucky enough to be visiting a friend in Nashville and he brought me to this foodie heaven! As a foodie with a critical palate, I was not disappointed. I can honestly say it was perfect from start to finish, including the outstanding service we received. We started by sharing the fennel dip, which was a complex creamy delight on grilled toast point. We then shared the shrimp appetizer, which delivered the heat in an amazing sauce. Next up was the lobster bisque, which was served correctly by being poured table side in order to maintain the temperature of this delicate dish, also full of complex flavors with healthy chunks of lobster. My friend had the scallops for his entrée, which were perfectly cooked(he was so kind to share). It is so hard to find a chef who doesn’t overcook a delicate scallop; these melted in the mouth! His dish can with mashed potatoes, and it was the only slight disappointment; way too soupy! I had the roasted cauliflower as my entrée and it was also a delicious presentation and perfectly mixed combination of flavors and ingredients. We also shared a side of the ‘must have’ sweet potatoes with bourbon meringue —YUM!!! We had several glasses of wine, even though disappointed that they were out of the Grenache/Syrah, my personal favorite. Alas, so room for dessert, as the portions were so substantial that we ended up taking ½ of our entrees home. Thank you to the staff at 5th& Taylor for getting it right! What a treat for the senses!

Short preview: With so many better restaurants in town, don’t waste your time here. While some of the food is good, most is mediocre. The prices of this restaurant suggest that it is supposed to be one of the nicer restaurants in Nashville, but the taste, presentation, and atmosphere can’t compete. Additionally, the waiters made multiple mistakes with my check, which really got on my nerves — using a cash register is not that hard. * The only standout of the evening was dessert, but it can’t make up for the rest. First, something about the atmosphere. I do not understand the combination of palm trees, candles, and weird art. There does not seem to be a cohesive vision and burning candles on small tables are a fire hazard. I liked the airiness of the space, but it needs a lot of simplification. To start, we had the sausage-cheddar biscuits, which my sister liked a lot and I thought were ok, although the sauce that came with them was very good. We had the bacon wrapped quail which was poorly presented and much too greasy. I had the beet salad, which was ok, but was boring. In a restaurant, I want a salad to be interesting, not just a few vegetables dressed with olive oil. My sister had the lobster soup, which made her mildly nauseated. The based of the soup broth had a strange taste that went really poorly with the rest of the dish. I tried it, and I also found the taste somewhat unpleasant. For entrees, I ordered the duck and my sister had the lamb. Both were cooked in two ways and my sister and I both liked one cooking methods from each dish. One of the duck cooking methods resulted in unpleasantly chewy meat while my sister’s lamb was simply undercooked. The mashed potatoes were good, but the shared bowl and lack of options is a bit of a weird vibe — I’m not sure what this restaurant is trying to achieve with this. Finally, we came to the dessert, which was great. I had the sticky toffee pudding, with amazing ice cream and my sister had the chocolate browny which was great, but a bit monotonous. When it came time to getting the check, things did not go smoothly. Our waiter(who had been annoying us through the evening for his tendency toward hovering) took our cards and went to ring us up. Because of the open floor plan, we could see him and two other servers puzzling over the cash register, which made us worry that one of us had managed to overdraw our accounts. Long story short, the waitstaff managed to charge me multiple times for my dinner(and then reimburse me), in a too long process. This was simply an annoyance. This is definitely not somewhere I would return to and I wish I had not wasted a meal at this restaurant, when there were so many other places I have not yet tried.

This is, in my neck of the woods, an upscale dinner place. Beautiful setting with candle light and modern seating. This Resteraunt was able to squeeze us in on their reservation book which was much appreciated as I had an uncle call out of the blue who was travelling through Nashville and wanted a nice place to meet up and eat dinner. We were not let down. We were seated and attended to immediately. We had several of the appetizers, bacon wrapped quail, white shrimp(something or other), forgive me for not taking better notes of the names of dishes. We also had the sausage biscuits and they were very, very good, even considering I’m not a fan of biscuits. I know, I know, that is a travesty as I live in the south now. Please forgive me. Anyhow, the beer can chicken was tender and juicy. It is smoked and served with a beersauce. Wonderful. My husband and uncle had the mixed plate which was very impressive. Definately would return again. It’s a nice date spot.

I liked 5th and Taylor! My husband and I ordered the sausage biscuits and bacon wrapped quail as appetizers. Both good but we would probably not order them again! For dinner we shared the beef pot roast and pork porterhouse(pork chop) with mashed potatoes. Excellent! We loved both meals and would go back for these again. Dessert — we tried the brownie and Elvis moon pie — both delicious especially the moon pie! Give it a try and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Ambiance hit me as a 10 right off the bat, just don’t wear faux fur or big hair– you may get lit on fire. Lots of candles Cocktails we had: something w mezcal. Everyone at our table ended up ordering it be it was he best. Also some martinis. Everyone was happy Appetizers: quail — moist and not game-y, oysters — great flavor, cheese plate– no disappointment Salads: Bibb salad– wow! Pear salad– also yummy just tiny for me Entrees– beer can chicken was so moist and flavorful. I really enjoyed the burger. Charred at edges, good thin fries In a city with 10 new high end restaurants a month, this one stood out. We like trying them all, but this one we will be back to before trying new spots– it was that good.

Classy at its finest. Another stop during our travels. We had a reservation at 5:45 and without hesitation our seat was ready to go at 5:15. The staff was extremely enthusiastic and ready to serve. The ambiance was dim and lit with beautiful white candles. Was a feeling a romance while companions with our 12-year-old with an expensive palette. Our waitress was excited about the menu and truly believed in her suggestions. Ultimately, she sold on us every suggestion she offered and she is quite the wise lady(Sorry don’t recall her name). For starters we began with the bacon wrapped quail, stuffed with dates and a sorghum glaze. The presentation was speechless in the cast iron vessel and even more divine to the palette. Secondly, the from scratch made sausage and cheese biscuits, drop the mic, along with the jam and aioli. The husband claims that it was one of the best appetizers he every had and daughter was speechless(that never happens). The child had a gigantic pork belly sandwich(looked bigger than her head) topped with a special sauce and herb sauce. The pork belly was perfectly crispy on outside with a delicate interior, and a mountain of fries. The husband was ready to move-in with the perfectly cooked venison and root vegetables to accompany. The mashed potatoes were rustic with skins yet elegant and creamy. I do not believe the dishwasher was used later to clean. The wife took the advice of the waitress with the wreck fish. Amazing!!! This was a 10 on slam dunk scale of flavor. The perfectly pan seared white fish sat on a kicked up tomato purée with a decadent fennel relish. As an addition she got the roasted cauliflower and onion presented in a cast iron with a béchamel sauce, speechless. This was definitely a great meal that was NOT overpriced. Thank you, hope to see you again.

Allow me to start by detailing something I particularly loved about this restaurant — the pace of the meal. When I go to a place like this I do not want to be rushed. I want to enjoy a cocktail and app and plenty of conversation before moving into the entrée. On this point, 5th& T nailed it. Even though the restaurant was busy, at no point did it feel we were being rushed or as if our table needed to be flipped ASAP(we had a 5 o’clock reservation so perhaps this feeling would be different if we ate later). Our meal took about 1 ¾ hours from being seating to leaving, and I thought it was a great pace. 5th and Taylor is located in the revived neighborhood of Germantown located just north of downtown Nashville. The restaurant has a great vibe — albeit a bit dark — with a romantic feel of a candlelight dinner in rustic warehouse setting. As is becoming trendy, they had a list of traditional cocktails with their own modern twist. I opted for the Manhattan Project which was delicious — a classic, like seeing an old friend after a long time. The wine selection was quite diverse as well with the usual 2 – 2.5x mark up. We started with the cheese plate(larger size, $ 18) which was perfect to split between four people. There were four different cheeses(I believe a goat cheese, brie, gouda, and swiss) and four pieces of bread. Although light on the bread, any more and it would have been too heavy and probably interfered with the entrée — so again, perfect amount of food. For our entrees we all had something different and all were fantastic — the trout, mixed grill, beef tips, and duck… all perfectly prepared with excellent sauces, texture, and sides. Even my picky self has not one complaint about the food or size of the portions. We did not try dessert. Side note: we were seeing a musical after dinner and forgot our tickets; but not to worry, the manager printed the tickets off for us! Now that is top notch service! The only — and truly the only — even slightly negative comment I can make is I wish our waiter had been slightly more attentive at times. However, we could clearly see he was constantly busy(as opposed to chatting away in the corner) and we appreciated his balance of serving us while allowing us to enjoy conversation and our meal. Yes I would recommend to a friend and yes I would return.

5 star food 1 – 2 star service Let me say that this place is beautiful, warm, the atmosphere is a must go to at least once kinda place. Food was great as well. Nice spot for my bday dinner, wouldn’t change it at all. With all of that said: A 7:30 reservation had us waiting about15 min so we went to the bar. A fairly inattentive bartender waited on us, again, whatever. We flew in from NJ and weren’t going to nitpick the wait or chick serving drinks. We get to our table and we wait another 15 before our waiter even acknowledged us. He was at the table next to us the whole time waiting on about 12 people there, taking their orders, answering questions. A simple«ladies I’ll be right with you» would have gone a looonng way. So, we have enough time to pick out what we would like to eat as an app and dinner before we even had any water poured for us. Finally he comes by, apologized and takes our order. My date makes sure he is well aware it’s my bday, thinking they’d do the whole candle in the dessert thing too as a nice touch. Food comes out, all together. Our appetizer and entrees. So we try and tackle both at the same time so as one or the other doesn’t get cold. Dude takes forever to clear our dirty plates and empty wine glasses so we push them to the very corner of our table so we have some room. He comes over and offers us this«discounted wine list» so we decide on a 30 bottle of white. Takes another 15min for him To bring the bottle(mind you, he had brought us two new glasses and a wine bucket, with no bottle) and we realize, that’s not the bottle we picked. We just go with it so we are not pain in the butt jersey girls at this point since we’ve ignored everything else. Dessert: Elvis moon pie which was cool, no candle though.(We had our own just in case!) Get the bill and get charged with a 35 dollar bottle of the wrong wine. All in all: beautiful venue, yummy food, trendy and romantic atmosphere — if in Tennessee again would go back but the service severely lacked and dare I say sucked.

We had no reservations on a Saturday night. My friend and I came here on a whim because sometimes we like to pretend we’re vultures and creep around restaurant bar areas, waiting for couples to leave their high top seats unattended so we can scoop in for the win. It’s like a game. A fun game only the patient and IDGAF attitude people can play. First things first, love the ambiance of this place. Open space warehouse vibe. It’s lively, yet still intimate. Restroom needed some tending to, but I get it, you guys have other things to worry about. Like making stellar food and providing great service. The food is amazing for lack of better descriptive culinary words. I was in love with every single dish. We had the lobster soup(drool worthy), the bosc pear salad, and the roasted cauliflower entrée with a side of mash potatoes. I’m not one to rave about a cauliflower head, but can I just say this was the best piece of vegetable I’ve ever had as an entrée?! Like, am I really eating just a roasted cauliflower? Shut up, because I don’t believe you. And the mashed potatoes? I was not expecting much from a side, but it was the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Ever. Don’t do yourself the disservice of not getting dessert. Even though we were surprisingly full, we made room for the black currant and salted caramel macaroons. Just as good, if not better, than any specialty macaroon bakery I’ve ever been to *cough* Laduree *cough*. Overall, I had a great experience! Will definitely come back again… and again, and again. Next time with a reservation though, because I can’t always play the vulture game.

My boyfriend and I decided to try something different before heading to the symphony for date night. We tried to get reservations earlier in the day but had no luck so decided to head over early and try our luck at the bar. We arrived around 5:20pm and it was already pretty full. The restaurant was beautiful. I was pretty blown away by the ambience and it was a very romantic atmosphere. We sat at the bar and our bartender attended to us pretty immediately and gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. I had a few questions about the white wines and she let me sample them before making my decision. I ended up with a cab but she let me try two whites and was super accommodating. My boyfriend and I then decided on a smaller meal and we ordered the charred fennel dip, the onion croquette and the bacon wrapped quail. The service was pretty quick and all the food went really well with my wine. The ONIONCROQUETTES. To die for. If you decide to get anything, get the onion croquettes. You could taste the gruyère and it was simply amazing. The quail was very soft and delicious as well. The fennel was good but wasn’t my choice and so I enjoyed it but I just think I’m not a big fan of fennel but my boyfriend said it was delicious. When our bread ran out our bartender also asked if we would like more and we got more bread. Overall, our experience at 5th and Taylor was nothing but fabulous. I would love to go back some time and try an actual meal and look forward to doing so.

I hate easy words like amazing so I’ll try to be a little more descriptive. The sausage cheddar biscuit and quail appetizers are one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. Our group had the venison, duck, filet and halibut. The venison was absolutely indescribably delicious. My buddy say his duck was the best he has ever had. The other dishes were excellent. Service by Becca was 1st class. This place is a step above Etch.

We visited 5th and Taylor once during the summer, and I just don’t think we’ll be back. I know many people who say they’ve had terrific experiences, but ours was decidedly subpar. The general vibe from the hosts and the servers was one of inattentive neglect. Our server spoke so quietly as to be unintelligible in the spacious dining room. Appetizers for our party of four included the charred fennel dip(okay) and the fried pickles(limp and flavorless). Entrees were mixed; my husband had a fairly good steak, but my beer can chicken was tough in texture and sticky under its thick sauce. The pace of the meal was so slow that we uncharacteristically skipped dessert; we just had no desire to stick around. We said we should give them another chance, but at this point, I just don’t think we will.
