This was a nice, quaint place to get dinner on a weekday evening. Came here for dinner and there’s paid parking across the street. $ 2/hr on a Wednesday night. I ordered the deviled eggs prepared 3 different ways. There was steak & onion, pulled pork & pickles and lastly bacon & scallion. My favorite one was the pulled pork & pickles because the meat and the pickles really went well together and the crunch from pickles gave it texture. The other two were just as good. For my entrée, I ordered the spare ribs. The meat was good and it came right off the bone and it had the right amount of fat on the ribs. The mash sweet potato was a little bit watery but the pickled red onions on top were so good it made me forget about the watery potatoes.

Quaint little spot to get drinks. I enjoyed the ambiance but I didn’t know that I needed a reservation.

Loved this bar! My friends and I stopped in for happy hour a few days ago. We ordered a few drinks and they were ready to go quickly! I wasn’t actually crazy about the one I ordered(it was too strong for me) and when I let the bartender know he replaced it with a glass of wine within 2 seconds– no questions asked! Excellent customer service. Beautiful place, great bar. Loved it!

The food from start to finish was excellent — my only regrets are that I didn’t save room for dessert and didn’t order the skillet cornbread(all of which looked delicious). I ordered the hot chicken off the bar menu and was very impressed. Perhaps not the best in Nashville, but definitely in my top three. The slaw and grits on the side were both successful in balancing the spiciness of the chicken, which was hot, but not too hot(I have a high threshold for it, though). I’ll definitely be back soon.

I finally got around to trying Silo and it didn’t disappoint. When Nashville was establishing its ‘it’ status, there were a handful of restaurants/places that were helping to elevate the city past its mid-South borders. It’s a bit much to try and hit them all(especially with new ‘it’ places popping up monthly*) but when there’s an occasion, one should take the opportunity. So it came to pass on a busy-ish Sunday in late spring that I had friends in town and a need to impress. Silo had been on my list but I thought it was closed on Sundays. A brief trek through Germantown revealed that to be a mistake and in a short amount of time, we were at the bar awaiting a table. This ‘elevated Southern’ trend is a tricky thing. I suppose for tourists from either coast, it can be a sure-fire way to experience ‘authentic’ Nashville but for anyone from Kentucky to Alabama, North Carolina to Arkansas, the thought of paying $ 30+ for shrimp & grits is a bit daunting. We eat this stuff all the time at family dinners for free. Why pay big money for something we can make? The answer: because you can’t make it. At least, you can’t make it like this. I am not a defacto fan of elevated Southern. In fact, I think much of it is a scam. But when it’s done right, you’ll savor every bite. Silo does it right. Waiting at the bar for a table, I started my journey with a Smuggler’s Lemonade. It had a subtle punch and wasn’t too sweet. It was a nice way to start a meal and a very accessible cocktail. Reading the reviews about where to sit, we managed to snag a table in the back side room. It offered a private experience that enabled us to talk easily without screaming over each other. For my meal, what could I order but the shrimp & grits. It’s my litmus meal at these sort of restaurants. With the first bite, I couldn’t speak. The shrimp were succulent. The grits melted in my mouth. The sauce, onions, chives, and pork added depth to this low country favorite. I was hooked. This was a shrimp & grits dish I couldn’t make, couldn’t get at a relative’s house and didn’t flinch at all for paying ~ $ 25 for. Being that the plates are served solo, we got some sides to add to the reverie. I found the mac & cheese to be a bit gummy, gloppy and disappointing(definitely not worth the price tag) BUT the jalapeño corn bread and the greens more than made up for it. You can’t just eat anyone’s greens. To make them correctly takes time, finesse, seasoning, and experience. Bad greens can ruin your whole day. These greens will make you want to sing. Even if you think you don’t like greens, order these greens. The side was large enough to be an entrée portion. I was happy to split it. Nashville’s current iteration owes a lot to places like Silo and the transformed Germantown. It’s not too late to discover why. *YMMV.

Short: The food was pretty good, prices are slightly high. Long: We went on a Thursday at 6pm and it was pretty empty. The happy hour is only at the bar, which is really small. We had the bone marrow which was delicious(ask for the bones to bring home for Fido). I had the filet($ 25) and my wife ordered the hot chicken off the bar menu($ 12 or $ 14?). The filet is very tender and cooked to a nice medium rare but it was slightly salty. The hot chicken is very hot and also a smokey-hot that definitely isn’t among my favorite hot chicken in Nashville. It’s also a chicken breast that was pretty dry in the middle. Add 2 beers and our total after tip was $ 73. I don’t necessarily think it was good enough to warrant that price, hence why it’s slightly overpriced for the neighborhood. Rolf & Daughters is cheaper and better in my opinion.

We walked in 5 minutes late for our reservation and our greeting was«can you be done by 8:30 in time for our next reservation» in a haughty attitude. That was just the start. I spoke to the owner who informed me I needed a drink, then asked my husband how he did it. I was floored. On top of it all, the food was horrible. The trout was flavorless and dry, the gnocchi bland. The desserts were horrible. The best thing was the hamburger from the bar. I recommend you find a better place to dine.

Terrific meal all around. Get the Hot Chicken, ask for it if it’s off the menu. It’s hot, it’s good and hot. It’s also good! Pork chop is up there too. Mac and cheese, yes please Cauliflower salad excellent. Great way to have some southern cooking!

Met some friends for Sunday brunch. We were seated outside. Service was good overall. We had several of the signature dishes. The Silo Skillet was really good. The steak in the skillet was amazing. The hot chicken sliders were definitely hot, both temperature and spice. Crisp and delicious on a bed of slaw, on a biscuit, topped with a homemade pickle, the sliders were really good. The omelette was ok. No sign of any cheese. Make it clear when you order the omelette your way if you don’t want tomatoes. Apparently there are set ingredients. We split the cinnamon roll 4 ways. It’s huge. Served piping hot, the cream cheese icing is nice. Not too sweet. The roll is perfect in my opinion. Just sweet enough.

Such a SOLID Germantown spot. Never disappoints. Cocktails are thoughtfully crafted. Food is always delicious — elevated southern/American fare. Service is always attentive and great. Décor/ambience is great for date night but lively enough to be a great group dinner spot. Mac and cheese is amazing. Whisky selection is large.

The menu is farm to table and for the most part well executed. Really enjoyed the cauliflower. It’s tangy and nutty. Also enjoyed the deviled eggs and the rabbit dish. The cornbread was awful, super dry we barely touched it. People loved the Mac and cheese but as someone who can generally do without I’d say you can skip it. It’s pricey. Between a drink appetizer main course an dessert you won’t make it out of there for under 70.

As a native of Nashville, I am always looking to try a few of the up and coming restaurants on any trip I get to take back home. I went for brunch with a few friends and was quite disappointed. While the server was quite pleasant, I felt the limited brunch options didn’t present much to get my interest peaked. I set my heart on trying the deviled eggs and they were out. Everything else that the table ordered(omelets, hot chicken sliders, cinnamon rolls and french toast) all looked sub par and the salad was drenched in dressing. The décor and atmosphere was cute but unfortunately not sure if it was enough to draw me back in for a second chance.

Silo was the location of night ones dinner on my most recent jaunt to the south. Our party of 9 all gals from the east coast descended on this place in anticipation of all things; southern, fried, cooked in fat and along side some sort of pig parts. The restaurant itself was in a cute area of Nashville known as Germantown. Our table in the back of the restaurant came with a full view of kitchen. The décor was rustic and had a BB kind of feel. We started out with a round of drinks and a few apps. We as a table ordered The hot chicken Shrimp and grits 3 orders of mac(very excessive) 2 orders of greens Cauliflower salad Octopus app Chicken liver app. All the dishes IMHO were very salty like salt overload even for a heavy handed with the salt @ home cook. Flavor wise I enjoyed everything but drank an excessive amount if water. Service was impeccable(can’t remember her name but she was amazing) which is why this review is 4 stars instead of 3. Though I don’t plan on returning to Nashville I would recommend silo for anyone trekking to the south and in need of some sodium along side their bourbon drink.

Game changer: you can get a half order of the Mac and Cheese. The full order is also delicious but can feed a family of four. Sometimes you just do not need that much. I also highly recommend their happy hour, which is from 4 – 6 every day. All of their hand crafted cocktails are $ 6.00, and they pack quite a punch. Craft beers and select wines are also on special. Their bartenders are all very friendly and are genuinely interested in learning your name and making sure you are happy with your beverage selection. Their full menu is also amazing. My personal favorite is the Shrimp and Grits. Silo is probably my favorite restaurant in the city.

We came here for brunch and I ordered the pulled pork eggs benedict and the Mr. ordered The Skillet. I loved my pulled pork eggs benedict but according to him, the Skillet was too salty — which did not go over too well after a night of drinking. The food took way too long to come out. We waited almost an hour before the food made it to our table. Honestly, breakfast food does not take THAT long to cook. I don’t know if I would come back. Maybe or maybe not.

I was back and forth between 3star and 4star. The food is a strong 4star. The hot chicken is my fav, along with shrimp and grits. My husband LOVES the flat iron steak and not so much the dry pork chop. The hamburgers we have ordered 3 – 4 times and too much salt. Over all we visit silo 1 – 4 times a month for hot chicken mac n cheese or flat iron steak. Brunch on Sunday’s is great too! Service could be faster but bartender Chris? Not sure that’s right name but he rocks! Very attentive and takes care of his customers. Silo is one of our top places for eating out or take out for our favorite foods. Hope this help and atmosphere is nice is great!

The good: hip upscale feel. Exceptional service. The deviled eggs appetizer. The bad: Bar selection(did not have Crown Royal; did not have Fords gin; did not have Johnny Walker Blue). The bone marrow appetizer: weird, small edible portion, did not taste good at all. The rest: had shrimp & grits for main course. It was tasty; a medium spice with good texture and ample portion. Must try the deviled eggs; they were exceptional.

I’ll preface this review by saying I’ve been to Silo twice, but only for brunch. I still want to go back for dinner, but I just haven’t made it in yet. Expect an eventual update. Silo is a win for brunch for three major reasons: 1. It’s darn tasty 2. They make a big effort to source local ingredients 3. It’s pretty easy to get a table There are a host of other delicious reasons, including the biscuits, Benton’s bacon, Bloody Marys, and home fries. On both occasions I’ve dined, I’ve used OpenTable to set up a reservation at 10:30 am – right at opening. Both times, we were the first table seated. The restaurant was always full by 11:15, but walk-ins could be had for groups of of two to four for the first 30 – 45 minutes, on both Saturday and Sunday. The deviled eggs were interesting and left us wanting more — they were definitely no more than an amuse bouche for a table of 4. I thoroughly enjoyed the pulled pork benedict with jalapeño hollandaise, and my wife’s omelet received two thumbs up as well. The service was attentive for the most part — but then again, we didn’t really require too much. Water was refilled 2x in the course of our 45 minutes in the restaurant, and refills for coffee were offered as often as refills on Bloody Marys– which is to say often. In short, I recommend Silo as an alternative to ‘more trendy’ brunch locations, and also to those who like to place reservations online(or procrastinate). I’ll be back for brunch, and to give dinner a try.

Just had my first meal at Silo and I’m so impressed! The place is trendy without being overly pretentious. It’s the kind of place where you could wear jeans or a nice dress and neither would be out of place. The service was notably excellent! Our server, Jeff, was incredibly nice and helpful. He split up the checks for a party of 11, which most people aren’t willing to do(even correctly accounting for split dishes on our bills). Ok now for the important stuff. I’d say the cuisine is sophisticated southern. Everything I tasted was really good, here are some highlights: — THEPORKCHOP! Recommended by our waiter. So flavorful and not dry at all. I never order pork chops at restaurants but after trying it I regretted my decision. It’s just awesome. — Macaroni and cheese is decadent, creamy and sooo yummy. The portion is huge so it’s good to split with 3 – 5 people. — I liked the hot chicken a lot, but as other Unilocalers have said, it’s HOT. Maybe I’m a baby but I think I would’ve been able to enjoy the flavors more if it was a few notches milder. I was warned though and didn’t listen, so maybe you’ll be wiser than I was. I wish I still lived in Nashville so I could come back again soon!
