Kyle and Basil gave me top-​notch service at a very reasonable price. They helped revive my old bike, got me out riding again, and not only earned a new customer, but a new friend.

I had a super great experience. I walked in, knowing that I’m interested in buying a bike but not knowing anything about it other than what they look like (well, that might be a bit of a overstatement but… you get the gist). I did my research before and was pretty much set on this shop based on it’s reviews. I knew that I wanted to ride trails and roads, so more of a hybrid bike and being a beginner I wanted a good bike but I didn’t want to spend too much money. Kyle was an «unfortunate» guy stuck with me. He was super patient, explained stuff to me and helped me pick the right bike for what I was looking for. He even helped me set up a bike carrier on my car. Very nice guy. Seemed knowledgeable about his job.

This is the best bike store in Naperville! Everyone is so nice and love to help. I would recommend this bike store to anyone and everyone that has a bike. The owner is also an awesome guy.

If you don’t want to be judged for not being a cyclist and not buying the best bikes then this isn’t the store for you. The owner is rude and turns his nose up at you if you need a bike from a big box retailer fixed. Here’s a different approach: be nice and helpful and price starts to matter less and maybe I will buy one of your over priced bikes.

The owner is one of the most rude individuals I have seen. He told me that he would fix my bike, but «for what you got…» Alluding to the low quality of the bicycle…

I called Spokes today and spoke to a very nice man on the phone. I really had no knowledge of bikes so I had no idea what I wanted, all I knew is that I wanted something I could fit into my car, ride on the road, bike paths, and some limestone style bike paths. He said he had some great options that would work great and to come on in. I came in and he was very nice showing me the two options that would fit my needs the best, I didn’t feel pressured to buy which I always appreciate. I tested out the two bikes and knew the Liv Alight 2 was the one for me after testing both. After I got rung up another man helped show me how to break down the bike so it would fit in my car and was very helpful as well! Great Job!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. My bike was having issues shifting and I needed the bike for a charity ride in 3 days. They were accommodating and got my bike back in two days.

Just bought a bike from Roauf at Spokes, and I could not be happier! He measured me for the perfect fit, because we had to order the bike in my size. I have to admit, I was a little anxious buying an expensive bike sight unseen. However, it fits perfectly! Furthermore, Alex and the team could not have been more helpful fitting, fine tuning, and outfitting my new bike. The store has a lot of inventory and accessories. Alex suggested a new light, which I was initially planning to pass up. However, thanks to that light, I enjoyed a great ride at 0530 this morning. I am very happy with the service, support and quality at Spokes. It is my new favorite bike store in Chicagoland!

I walked in on a Saturday hoping that I could get a salesperson who wasn’t rude like the other reviews said. No, I got the rude dude. He had blonde hair and I’m not quite sure he was the manager everyone was saying was a jerk, but wow was this particular guy insane. I have never been in a store where someone had been so bad at trying to sell me something.
I obviously didn’t know anything about bikes so I was asking a couple of basic questions and not only did he give the most generic non-​answers, but he totally blew off my mom when she asked about Schwinn and Raleigh bikes, which they don’t carry. At least you could give me a truthful answer, but he was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Not only that, but he talked like he was reciting from the «Idiots Guide to Sales»; incredibly formal, unhelpful, and aggressive.
Later, the older balding gentleman with an accent tried to give me a better answer because he had been listening in, but he didn’t apologize for the other guy. I wish I had been able to talk to him but he was talking to another customer.
I would have considered buying the bike I tried but I will never, ever purchase it from them. I haven’t ever seen service this bad before.

I really liked Spokes but my budget didn’t. As soon as my husband and I walked in we were immediately taken by surprise. There are bikes everywhere! I can’t believe they could even fit that many in such a small store. No matter what type of bike you are looking for, I guarantee that they have it. We were approached by the Manager as soon as we walked in (at least I think he was the Manager or Owner). He was older and extremely professional. He knew a lot about the store and about every bike in there. He was so polite and since I don’t know much about bikes he was extremely helpful by explaining the difference between them and why some are priced more than others, why some have fatter tires than others, etc. We are looking for a road bike that we can really put the miles on. Not any type of off road bike. So he showed us those and let us sit on them and try them out. What got me was the price range. These bikes are expensive! But that is because they are the real deal… more professional bikers rather than myself. The one bike we looked at was 500 dollars. Between the two of us, we did not want to spend $ 1,000. We explained to him that we really wanted to be within the $ 200/​$ 300 price range and he was extremely accommodating! He did not mind that we wanted to pay less… much less. He showed us at least three of other bikes, but they were still on the higher end of $ 300. Although I left without buying a bike, I really liked this place. If you are a serious rider with some serious cash money, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would still recommend going in and looking around. The guy knows A LOT about bikes and because of the information he gave to me, I’m confident now that I know what I’m looking for when I go to other places. :)

I have to agree with the others… the guys at the Wheaton location are much nicer and friendlier. Called to ask some general questions today… the guy was very rude and pretty much insulting over the phone. Made me feel like I was a complete idiot just for asking some simple questions. Turns out… he’s the owner!
He made it a point to let me know that they only do fittings for «professionals» and racing cyclists, but that he would take a look at my bike anyway.
I think I’ll go somewhere else. Perhaps the Wheaton location.

I would recommend changing the name from «Spokes» to «Pokes.» Here’s my rationale:
After dealing with the folks over here, you’ll feel much like you did the morning after that drunken bar hookup that you pulled off in a moment of weakness, back in college-you’ll be left with many unanswered questions, and you’ll be fairly certain that you got screwed.
I asked if a competitor’s price could be matched on a 2012 model year bike. It was advertised for full MSRP at Spokes. The competitor’s price was about 20% less. Before I had the opportunity to lay out my case, the guy insisted that it wasn’t the same bike. He, of course, was wrong. It appears that consumer ignorance is key to the business model here.

Very knowledgeable and resourceful for bikes and bike accessories. Bought 4 bikes from the shop and after one fell off my bike rack, they were able to salvage it. Basil knows his stuff and is candid. I have sent my biking friends to his shop and they too were very pleased with the recommendation. If you are a bike novice or enthusiast this is the shop for you.

Ive gone into this Spokes store twice. Both times, i was insulted by a guy that I assume is the manager or owner. First time, I asked about a used Specialized FS Stumpjumper that they I had. I was told it was $ 2k. I looked the bike up on my phone and saw that it was 4 years old and barely sold for 2k new. When I asked about that, the guy told me i needed to spend more to get a good bike.
This past time, I went in and asked if the mechanic had a used shifter. Whoa, youd think I insulted the guy with that question. I was told that any shifters taken off bikes are thrown away and then asked why Id even want a broken shifter. I asked for used, not broken. Im sorry that I dont want to spend 300 for a shifter on an old road bike.
Go to Spokes in Wheaton. That shop is much better with good customer service.

Went in using a Groupon for a tuneup. The service guy suggested that I replace the chain ($ 20 – 30 + $ 10 labor) and rear tire ($ 25), and I agreed. He said that if they run across any additional costs, they would call me. When I went it to pick up the bike I was charged about $ 110. When I questioned the higher amount, they said they had to replace the rear brake pads ($ 13), a spoke ($ 18), and there was labor costs to replace the rear tire that weren’t mentioned initialy ($ 8).
I first complained about the labor cost for replacing the tire, since it wasn’t mentioned initially like the fee for the chain was and it was something that I could have easily done myself. Their response was just «you’re complaining about $ 8?». I realize that most things have costs and I would have been fine if I returned and was suprised by just one of these charges. But to get all three of these just bothered me, as I now just plunked down $ 145 (including the cost of the Groupon) on a 12 year-​old bike that I primarily use to ride to the train station. I’m not saying that they inflated the bill with unnecessary items, but I was upset about the lack of communication for these additional items when the service guy told me they would contact me if there were any add’l charges.
Take this review as you want, as a complaint on their customer service and not the actual job done. If these are the types of things that bother you, then you may want to make sure everything is clarified up front.

Went to yoga, Trader Joe’s and stopped at Spokes to have my bike looked at. Loose kickstand and flat tire. I spent some time browsing through the bike accessories and before I knew it, fixed tire and fixed kickstand. The bill was just over $ 15. Good, friendly and really quick. I only hoped they had a bigger selection of bike accessories (flags, bags, lights, reflect tape, etc.
Overall, I would definitely come back for my bike’s boo-boo’s.

You know when someone is good at something and you can tell they actually enjoy what they do? Yeah, that is how the sales person at Spokes, Naperville was. This was at least my 6^th bike shop, some low end, some moderate, and I would have skipped them all if I had known how great an experience it would be.
I got exactly what I asked for, it was in stock, for a decent price. By the third store when I asked for a 15″ and they suggested I try an 18″ I about gave up on bikes (and my thighs) all together. Luckily, my disposition is completely changed and I’m thrilled with my shiny new bike — it’s beautiful!
Now I don’t think that Spokes could have stopped the Titanic from sinking but they sure put an end to the sinking feeling in my tummy.

I chose this bike shop because they are a specialized dealer. I needed to get my tires changed to road tires and figured i’d have to leave my bike there and come back a few days later. Well #1 i got approached as soon as i walked in the door, the guy who seemed to be the owner showed me the tires i wanted and they started putting them on right away. plus i bought a bike computer and they installed that as well.
i’m so happy with my experience there, now if only the snow would melt so i could get out and ride!
