It’s unfortunate that it came to his type of online review, however after what happened yesterday to my 7 year old Shih Tzu I do not recommend for anyone to continue to support this business, or trust leaving your dog there to get groomed SAFELY! A typical drop off at Tail Wagger’s ended up a nightmare for my baby, and emotional wreck for myself and my family involved when I get a call within the first hour of him being there saying I need to come back to take him to the emergency vet. What angered me the most is instead of Stephanie (the owner who always grooms him) calling with concern and care, and a straight to the point conversation she wanted to be long winded beating around the bush of what the REAL emergency was which led me to be in panic having to be direct asking «DID YOU CUT HIM? IS HE BLEEDING?» to hear her answer YES. I drove so fast back to the Tail Waggers being very angry and upset! Instead of Stephanie being a true woman about the situation with compassion and empathy to want to right her wrong, or sincerely apologize she was more concerned about me yelling and being irate. Yes they were proactive on arranging for his medical treatment to be paid, but to me that wasn’t the point. The point is I DROPPED MY DOG OFF TO GET GROOMED NOT TO END UP STRESSED OUT PANTING, BLEEDING, AND IN PAIN! I could not stop crying all day yesterday. My dog ended up having to get 10 staples in the inside part of his ear, on meds, and has to wear that uncomfortable head cone which he hates. By the grace of God the doctor said it won’t affect his hearing, but my Shih Tzu is the sweetest, and definitely did not deserve to be injured. Not sure why SHARP OBJECTS are being used inside of dog’s ears anyways! I told her in argument we won’t be back… Stephanie rudely said «Good!» Support this place at your own risk! I hope they now lose business and get shut down. KARMA

After a very nice talk with the owner, she was more than happy to make things right. I will give them another try and review again.

Like most other groomers you have to be specific on how much you want cut — ask what their normal levels of cuts are — but once you clarify that with them they are great! My golden retriever LOVES to go to the groomers now! She always smells great and her coat is clean and shiny.
One hint — they do get really busy sometimes though with lots of little dogs that bark a lot so if you can pick up your dog right away when they are ready you should just to avoid the stress!

I have been bringing our dog here for a few years for grooming. The owner is wonderful. The groomers are terrific. I have never had any problems. The place is always clean and welcoming.

I’ve been taking our little puppy here since she was 3 months old. I love how they cut-​with scissors if you like them kept «fluffier». Yes please! She always leaves looking so adorable!
Unfortunately, I made the mistake that so many of us do… I tried out the competition down the street because after all, they have a 5 star rating. It. Was. Terrible. I should’ve known when, after I said «I like it kept long», they were talking about what number guard they could use. It was too late though as we were leaving for vacation the next day. How bad could it be?
Bad. Even though they used a guard it was uneven! Her face looked butchered, with sprouts of hair sticking up randomly by her nose, and one side of her mouth a full inch longer than the other. She looked like a rat-​dog hybrid. Well, we still love her anyway but can’t wait til this hair grows back!
I’ll never go anywhere else from now on! Tail Waggers has always been friendly and professional. They always seem genuinely excited to see my «baby». And she always comes out looking better than when she went in. I’ll go back next time with my tail between my legs;)

I’ve been taking my Westie there for 8 years! They do a phenomenal job! The staff treats Scruffy as if he were their own. They are constantly talking to the dogs during the groom. I call them dog whisperers! I highly recommend Tail Waggers!

They aren’t the best. They told us to give our dog a tranquilizer and she’s old so that is NOT a good recommendation. We gave her to Petland and they did a great job! Yay Petland

I’ve been taking our dog to Tail Waggers for a little over a year now. During that time, Kathy and her staff have always been extremely professional. Kathy’s staff does a great job at getting your dog in and out. If I call on short notice, they will squeeze me in. Otherwise I always get a reminder call for the appointment. Kathy’s staff also listens to the needs of their clients. This is appreciated! The groomers always add a bandana with a bow for my dog. I have never been worried about the safety of my dog. I feel at ease when I drop her off with Kathy. One day Kathy and I started discussing my dogs allergies. Kathy was extremely informative and offered me her holistic vets name. She also gave me some tips for dealing with my dogs allergies. She really went above and beyond. When I go in, I feel like I’m with family.
Overall, it’s a great value, and great service! I will continue to recommend Tail Waggers to friends and family.

Owners BEWARE! Had our little 10lbs dog groomed there for the holidays and the groomer shaved all around her eyes and nose with an electric shaver and burned her skin and shaved her eyes raw to the point they were bleeding! Once she was picked up know one notified us that there was an issue. We had to immediately take her to the vet where they tested to see if her cornea was torn. The vet said she had burn marks around her eyes and they were raw. She had to wear a cone for several days, get eye drops and eye cream twice daily. A horrible way to spend the holidays traveling with our little pup. We felt so bad for her and knew she was in so much pain!
I will NEVER go back and the groomer should be fired! We have pictures to prove it! So disappointed in the service and the agony they caused! One should know you never put a sharp electric razor to any animals eyes because they could flinch at any minute. And if you made the mistake on one eye a normal person would think you sure as heck would not go ahead and do it to the other eye!

Porter can’t wait for his 1^st Birthday Spa Day. Well, Porter really enjoyed his first trip to Tail Waggers! Kathy greeted us upon arrival & then we met the groomer to discuss our plan for grooming. Porter excitedly went with the groomer & hopped into the tub (he loves water). I browsed around the shop for a bit enjoying all the cute things. Kathy & I discussed dog training/​therapy certification & boarding, she gave me some great suggestions. I had ordered a Birthday cake and picked it up while I dropped off Porter — it was so cute! Approx 2hrs later, I received the call that Porter was ready. I headed back to the shop & was greeted by my son — who was all groomed, smelling wonderful & sporting a camouflaged scarf. Our first trip here was fantastic, and I will be back with my other English Crème Golden Retriever! Thanks Tail Waggers for making Porter’s First Birthday special

My dogs love it here! Owner always accomodates my schedule. Groomers are great.

I do not recommend this groomer! We had scheduled an appointment to get our dogs groomed a week in advance. On the day of our appointment, we show up and were told we had called and cancelled our appointment. We definitely did not do that (why else would we show up??). The owner insisted we called and cancelled. We asked who she spoke with that cancelled the appointment and she said she didn’t know. She just assumed it was us because the person on the phone said «big dogs.» She then told us she gave our appointment time to someone else and she could possibly squeeze us is, but it would take a lot longer. So even though we scheduled an appointment a week in advance and showed up on time, we were told we were wrong and that they could «squeeze us in.» We then left and aren’t going back. So much for the customer always being right.

We have been taking our dogs to TW for the last 10 years. We have always been very comfortable with the environment and staff. The groomers do what is asked. We have always been pleased with the way our dogs looked after their grooming, be it a full groom or a simple bath. Once, a nail was clipped too short and it was the first thing the groomer said to me and I never saw any evidence of it when I took him home. This has happened previously with another groomer and what a mess! Our current dog requires special shampoo and rinse. They always do this and his skin has improved according to our vet. I’ve tried several groomers and TW has kept us for the last 10yrs. We are happy and our dog is happy. Kathy, the relatively new owner, is a nice woman and made some nice upgrades to the store. She clearly puts in hard work as do her groomers & bathers.

Unhappy, because I thought I found a good groomer. My dog started to have anxiety issues after visiting this groomer for the 2^nd time… I have a feeling something traumatic happened, but of course they would deny it. Per my Vet and another 5 star groomer I now take my dog to, they both have confirmed her actions and behavior (my dog’s response) link to an experience that was nothing better than horrible. Don’t take your dog here… two other local friends have experienced the same thing. Pet owners beware.

The staff at tail waggers was incredibly nice and very helpful when I brought my dog in. They truly have a «full service» aspect to them with each grooming including: bath, nail trim, teeth cleaning, and grooming. It was a great experience for my dog who came home with an adorable bandanna around his neck!

I brought my dog here after an awful experience at another groomers in Naperville. I think I was as nervous as my dog. The owner came out and took my westie back and she was surprisingly quiet. The owner had to come back out to take care of me when I asked for a special request. When I asked how my dog was doing she let me know that she gives each dog a buddy. This buddy is another dog that gets taken care of at the same time. This way the dog has a friend that they can see is fine and this helps them through the grooming process. Tessie came home as calm as can be and looking so fantastic I wish I could upload a photo! She had a bow in her hair that stayed in for three days. They even sent home a goodie bag with treats. All this for $ 45 — ten dollars less than anywhere else I have tried. I found myself a groomer to keep!

They were polite and the actual groomer was really nice. I paid $ 45 for a puppy cut so pretty average nothing great.
