Tim’s Napa wedding photography career began as a photojournalist at a newspaper before realizing his need for adventure and love for connecting with rowdy couples.

We got married last October (so we’re a little late on the reviews) but we’re still so happy that we had the opportunity to work with Tim for our engagement and wedding photos. We had a fusion wedding with a large guest list and our wedding day was a bit hectic, but Tim and his team worked seamlessly with our wedding planner and videographer.
Obviously, the most important thing a wedding photographer can do is get great photos, and Tim definitely delivers. He has the ability to capture the natural beauty of the environment and the energy of the people. A huge part of Tim’s ability to get great photos is his ability to put everyone at ease: he’s super friendly and, as a photographer, extremely accommodating. We had to cancel our engagement session at the very last minute due to traffic, and Tim rescheduled us without a hitch. We also loved how open to suggestions Tim was; he would really work with the idea and try to get the best photo possible. We’re normal people and not used to being photographed, but Tim really put us at ease throughout the wedding. In fact, when the wedding festivities were over, we were a little sad to part ways.
Lastly, we had a few extended delays immediately following the wedding and fell behind in choosing photos/​selecting albums, but again, Tim was super accommodating.
Overall, we had an incredible experience with Tim before, during and after the wedding, and we highly recommend him!

My wife Lindsey and I, couldn’t have been happier with Tim. We were recommended to him through our good friend, also a photographer, and were truly impressed by Tim’s great attitude, his seamless ability to blend in with the crowd on our wedding day, and the final product was outstanding. He shot photos of us in wooded Mill Valley, and on top of Mt. Tam in the sun, each looking outstanding. On a day when you want those memories to be last forever, we both are so happy we chose Tim.

Engagement photos can be kind of a weird, surreal experience, especially if you don’t live your life in front of a camera. Tim was so good at creating a relaxed vibe where we felt we could let our personality as a couple shine through. He met up with us beforehand for a quick hangout, which really helped build trust and get us comfortable opening up during the actual shoot. Tim was able to capture our goofy natural interactions with beautiful framed natural backdrops. In addition to being a skilled photographer, Tim is also a super nice guy — you’ll have a lot of fun during the shoot. We’re so happy we went with him!

I literally tear up when I think about Tim and his just naturally cool and compassionate way in taking photos. He looks at everything and captures the best of moments. Romantic poses don’t come naturally for me, so I knew that our wedding photographer would have a challenge and need to be amazing. Fortunately, my wife found Tim and all my worrying was unnecessary. All you have to do with Tim is show up and he will take care of the rest. Tim is extremely talented, takes amazing photos and great to work with. Tim’s photography and service far exceeded my expectations. From the initial meeting, engagment session, wedding day and even after the wedding, Tim’s friendliness and professionalism made working with him easy and enjoyable. His amazing abilities and artistic eye captured the moments and details of our wedding day perfectly making it easy to relive the day every time my wife and I look through the pictures.
I can confidently say that having Tim photograph our wedding was the best decision I made for my wedding day. Second only to marrying my wife who also loves the photos.
If you are on the fence about doing an engagment session. Definitely do it. 1) you have great pictures to display at your wedding. 2) you get to spend time with awesome Tim 3) It really helps to practice for the big day.

Tim and Cheryl were an absolute pleasure and my wife and I loved having them as our professional wedding photographers. My wife and I had our wedding in Santa Barbara less than a year ago. We loved the area but were not entirely familiar with it. However, Tim and Cheryl were, and for our engagement photo shoot they selected various spots throughout the city to set the mood and serve as different backgrounds. During the big day, Tim and Cheryl again took the lead in identifying different spots which served as wonderful settings and backdrops to our photos from the church ceremony to the reception. Tim and Cheryl were very patient and pleasant in dealing with/​photographing us and our many guests. We never had to worry about them. They also put together a slide show of photos taken during the ceremony and cocktail hour, which they played throughout the reception and which our guests (as well as ourselves) loved. All in all, Tim and Cheryl were a lot of fun and totally placed us at ease, especially since my wife and I were not used to having our pictures taken. Tim and Cheryl really made an effort in getting to know us and to suit the photos to our personal preferences and style. The actual photos were wonderful and we (as well as our guests) were impressed and very pleased with the final products.

Tim and Cheryl Halberg photographed our wedding in April 2012 in San Diego. It was a huge pleasure working with them, from our first email and phone conversations, to our fun engagement shoot in Palm Springs, to their beautiful work the night of our wedding. As the bride, I really appreciated how professional Tim was during the whole process — I never had to wait long for a phone or email reply, as he was incredibly responsive. This was a huge comfort during the stressful wedding-​planning process!
From the beginning, Tim and Cheryl placed an emphasis on getting to know us as a couple so that they could best capture our relationship on film. Both my husband and I are not so comfortable having our pictures taken, but with Tim and Cheryl, they put us such at ease that it was actually fun! And the photos turned out beautifully — we loved their photojournalistic style that was modern and classic at the same time. Our guests loved the slideshow they were able to somehow throw together the very same night of the wedding! Amazing. I also really appreciated that they went above and beyond, staying late to take pictures of our guests during the reception. They are genuinely nice and generous people, who are also amazing photographers!
We would recommend the Halbergs 1000%!

My wife and I met Tim and Cheryl while they were photographing a friend’s wedding. They are fantastic people. We were thoroughly impressed with how they managed to get all the great photos — their skill with available lighting is impressive and their talents with capturing the day sold us immediately.
When my wife and I had our engagement shoot, Tim and Cheryl were amazing — they picked the perfect spot and had the timing down to make the process incredibly fun and fly by. We went on a hike along the bluffs and near the oceanside, ending near a nature preserve. They have a great sense of humor and my wife and I still have all our favorite photos framed in our house. We love these photos along the sunset beach!
During the wedding, Tim and Cheryl were very professional. With all the other coordination and planning, they were completely transparent and seemingly invisible throughout the entire wedding and ceremony. The photos that they captured had us from every angle. The Halbergs are detail oriented to ensure we got photographs of all our family and friends, and in our preferred pairings. Our wedding photos are some of our favorite family photographs and they perfectly captured the mood. The Halbergs were very prompt in providing digital images and the prints we had made are fantastic. They captured moments that will live on in our minds forever.
We still call on Tim and Cheryl to take occasional family photographs as our family has grown (our first born and recent second born were occasions that are perfect for the Halbergs to capture).
My wife and I highly recommend Tim and Cheryl.

My wife and I loved Tim (and Cheryl) for our wedding. They came highly recommended by another friend of ours who also had them do the photos for their wedding. We were hesitant at first since they were so far away from us (at the time, they were still in Santa Barbara). But they were nearly invisible throughout our whole wedding day (in a good way). Really the only time we noticed them was when we were doing the organized photos with family, wedding party, tables, etc. And when we finally saw the photos we were sooo pleasantly surprised. Tim is so great at capturing moments. I’m a sucker for candid, spontaneous photos, and Tim captured everything from joy to love to romance to silliness to tears… EVERYTHING! Those of you who are married know that the day goes by in such a blur. Tim’s photos really did well to tell the story of our special day. We couldn’t wait to get opportunity to work with them again. So we scheduled a family photo session! And those pictures are even more awesome than our wedding photos!!! (I’m being bias though since our family session has our 1 year old daughter in it) You really can’t go wrong with Tim (and Cheryl)! I’ll stop talking now because I can go on and on just praising these guys and the good work they do and just how cool and good people they are.

We selected Tim and Cheryl to photograph after our wedding coordinator recommended them. We looked at their photography on their blog and website and immediately knew that their style was what we wanted. First Tim took engagement photos for us. My husband who typically hates pictures of himself loved the photos. We took our engagement shots at the beach and Tim captured both the natural environment and us beautifully. Both Tim and Cheryl were there for our April wedding. They took so many incredible photos. They both just knew what would make an incredible shot and I was so thrilled with all my wedding photos. Everyone in our family couldn’t believe how well they turned out. I even had Cheryl design my wedding album and she has such an eye for detail. I would definitely recommend the Halberg photographers. They are professional, fun, and easy-​going and their work is some of the best I have every seen.

My husband and I were married at Nestldown in Los Gatos last November and next to the venue, the photography was the most important vendor to me. I spent months looking through photography portfolios and as soon as I saw their blog, I knew I needed to book them.
We lived in New Hampshire so we did not meet them until we went to Santa Barbara in July and had our engagement session. My husband was worried that it would be awkward or uncomfortable to have people we just met taking our picture for an hour, but it was completely the opposite. Tim and Cheryl make a great team and they immediately made both of comfortable. We had so much fun during our session and the photos were amazing!
The day of our wedding (November 3rd) was also their wedding anniversary. They are both laid back and their demeanor is exactly what I hoped for during the busy day. They worked hard all day and at the reception they put a laptop out displaying the photos they had taken that day. I had guests come up to me and tell me they could not believe the photos. Our bridal party loved both of them and they made everyone laugh throughout the day.
I cannot recommend this pair enough! They are excellent photographers and awesome people!

We hired Tim and Cheryl for our July 2012 wedding in Santa Barbara, CA and we couldn’t be happier with the way the wedding photos (and the engagement photos too) turned out. They captured the day beautifully and did it with the utmost professionalism. My husband and I got ready in two separate locations, and they split up to able to capture both of us and our friends getting ready. They also put together an amazing photo slideshow set to our first dance song that played during the wedding reception. So many guests commented on the gorgeous photos! They also totally went above and beyond by staying past the time they were contracted to, to get some additional reception shots. Overall, Tim was very easy to work with and responsive to emails/​phone calls, and we’re so happy we chose to work with them!

My wife and I got hitched just about a year ago in Santa Barbara. We happen to know several great wedding photographers in the area so we really had a hard time deciding who would be the best fit for our day. After much deliberation and comparing several photographers uniques style, we decided on Tim and Cheryl. They were organized on the business end of things which was really important for me. They were on time for all events, captured tons of great shots and were really easy to work with. Tim and Cheryl were great with all the guests, family members and wedding party as a whole. Lastly, they really got to know us and listened to our preferences and suggestions. This was key as we got the product we requested!

Love, love, love them!
I randomly found Tim and Cheryl on a blog when searching for a wedding photographer. The photojournalisitic style and use of natural light was exactly what i was looking for! They were super cool to work with. We were instantly at ease when meeting them and shooting our engagement shots, which were amazing and gorgeous! Communication with them was flawless and I never once had to worry about them during the wedding planning process.
They captured our wedding at Nicholson Ranch in Sonoma beautifully. They had a slideshow at the reception from the pictures taken earlier in the day. My husband and I and our families absolutely fell in love with the pictures. We’ve gotten so many compliments.
I would whole heartedly would recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. It is obvious they love what they do and are fantastic at it!

We had the best experiencing hiring Tim as our wedding photographer! I would (and have) recommended him to everyone.
He made both of us feel really comfortable in front of the camera, and took the most gorgeous photos of our wedding day and during our engagement session. Everything we wanted a picture of, he got. He was incredibly patient and worked hard the entire time, without ever being intrusive. His communication was timely and thorough — both over email and in person. What I really appreciated was how easily he adapted his photography to our wedding style — a bright, colorful party at the Jim Henson studios. I LOVE our photos, and get tons of compliments on them, but his portfolio is full of all different styles of weddings (elegant vineyard, rustic ranch, etc) that are each beautiful and always completely suit the wedding couple’s style. That’s why we chose him — we knew he could make anything beautiful, even our goofy wedding and he did! He and Cheryl were also very patient with me afterwards when we were putting together the album. They never pushed back on any notes or requests I had, and kept coming up with great solutions. I really couldn’t have asked for more!
Having a wonderful photographer was probably my biggest priority with our wedding vendors — I could not be happier that we chose Tim Halberg.

Tim took both our engagement and wedding photos and my wife and I loved them both. He was professional and made sure he got the perfect shot. He is very personable which was helpful for me to relax and be myself while he captured the moment.
One thing that was nice was his flexibility to make sure we got the pictures we wanted at the locations we wanted, and even at the time of day we wanted.
During the wedding he did a great job at getting the moments that were authentic and real. For example, I bent down to give my nieces a hug and I didn’t know I had a picture of this moment until I got the pictures back for the wedding. He captured the entire ceremony and both my wife and I were thrilled with the pictures.
He continued to shoot throughout the reception and continued to get great pictures we will have in our house forever.
I think Tim Halberg is a great choice for any wedding because of his outgoing personable personality and his eye for the right moment and a great shot.

The biggest challenge for our wedding (3 months ago) was finding the right photographer. This was due in large part to me being a *former* professional photographer, having spent several years as a wedding photographer myself, and being represented by the world’s top agency, Getty Images. My standards were such that I probably wouldn’t even be pleased if I shot the wedding myself!
My search for perfection frustrated my wife to no end… until a friend introduced us to Tim Halberg. Tim is relatively new to the Bay Area, having moved up from Santa Barbara where he started his business after attending the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography. His work was an instant match for our wedding: Timeless, classy and, true to his brand, «Adventurous, Playful, Indulgent.»
Tim was an absolute delight to «work» with, and his photography is just perfect for helping us share and remember our wedding for the rest of our lives. Thanks Tim!
