My name is Alex, and I am the owner of Alexander Rubin Photography.

I love food, wine, travel, and most importantly my wife Melissa and our dogs Ishtar and our puppy Zeus.

I have been a full time photographer since 2005.

Travel is fun but my favorite place to shoot is also the place I choose to call home, California wine country. There is nothing like the warm light, endless vineyards, and natural beauty of this part of the world.

My style is a combination of fine art, editorial and candid photography. I like to show a sense of place with my work, a moment of emotion, the drama of love.

I am based in Napa and Sonoma California, and available to travel worldwide.

We worked with Alex on our engagement pictures, rehearsal dinner, and our wedding, each time he was not only professional/​on point but fun and enjoyable to work with — he was literally one of our favorite parts of our wedding experience. WOW! WOW! WOW! I knew from the moment that I first spoke to Alex that it would be an awesome experience. He arrived right on time and was a BURST of energy! Was also very helpful in reminding me of things I need for the wedding, and for me! Didn’t want me to forget anything! He made us all feel so comfortable that we almost forgot he was taking pics of us! Also my husband is shy and hates to take pictures but Alex made him feel so comfortable that my husband loved having him there too. I would definitely recommend Alex as his eye and experience are impeccable!

Best wedding photographer HANDS DOWN! Alex captured our wedding in the San Juan Islands two years ago in 2013 — this was the best decision we made for our wedding. Our pictures captured extraordinary moments both large and small and looking at the pictures bring us back to that amazing day. For us it was like having another friend at the wedding — I think this is so important in a wedding photographer you will be more comfortable and your pictures will be better when it feels like a good friend is there to capture the moments of this most special day.
I recently was looking at a friends wedding pictures NOT done by Alex — and all the elements of awesome pictures seemed to be there a beautiful girl, handsome guy, great location a couple in love but something seemed so staged and unnatural and missing. I think it was the photographer — which is the most important element to get amazing pictures. Alex has a gift and truly loves what he does you can tell by looking at his work
I wish I could do the day again just to have Alex take more awesome pictures!

I cannot write enough about Alex. Thanks to him I had an amazing day that he was truly integral in making happen. He arrived early, always good, and it just got better from there. I think the standard group pictures are always hard to make anything other than required yet I love all of mine and they capture a lot more than just us standing there with different family and friends. He also let me try to pull off some really ridiculous photo ideas such as sitting in a tree!
However this doesn’t even come to close to what he managed to achieve during the dinner. We had our dinner in a wine cave and with the way the tables are there is a limited amount of space I didn’t even realize he was going to be in the cave. Alex was not only there but was not remotely intrusive and thus I have fantastic photos of people just having fun as opposed to posing. I also have to mention that he filled a few wine glasses!
To sum up I would never hire anyone else even if I had to fly Alex to where the event was.
One more thing if you want you dog in your wedding he is definitely who you want!
So, one more time, Alex thank you for making a long awaited day absolutely perfect and pictures that I look at and they make me laugh and cry!

What a wonderful and outstanding photographer!!! Rubin and company were awesome for our special day. We had him photograph our wedding back in 2009 and we have zero complaints. Rubin met with us prior to the wedding in order to have a dialogue on how we wanted to best capture our day. I appreciated the fact that he included our input and asking us what may be our most memorable moments that we want to capture forever. During the wedding, he was very courteous to our guests, accomadating for the wedding party and flexible with the constant last-​minute changes. We are so glad that we had Rubin as our photographer and we wouldnt change anything. We recommend Rubin as your first choice to capture your special day.

My wife and I had a BLAST going around Napa taking shots with Alex after we eloped. So fun! Felt like we knew him for years when we had only met a couple hours before.
Awesome ideas and a great eye. Man of his word. He told us the photos would be ready in two weeks and they were even a bit early.
Finished product is FANTASTIC! My wife is loving it. All our friends are wishing they hired Alex for their weddings.

Alex was a ton of fun to work with. He sees beauty in small moments and captures it, and also has a knack for pulling your surroundings into a photo in a really creative way. What I appreciated most about Alex was his go-​with-​the-​flow style. I suspect there was a ton of hustle going on on his end during our wedding, but from where I was standing, it seemed effortless. Alex was so great to work with. He shot my fiancé and I engagement photos. When looking for our photographer, we knew we wanted someone creative, confident, and fun. Alex is all that and more.
My fiancé and I opted out of shooting traditional engagement photos and decided to do something a little more risqué, in honor of our love and all the years (10years) we’ve been together. Unlike the other photographers I had spoken with, Alex seemed engaged and excited to hear our ideas.
On the day of the shoot, I was super nervous being that I would be shooting in a REALLY tight dress and some lingerie, but Alex made everything so comfortable. I ended up feeling very sexy, confident, and secure while having my picture taken. Alex was also very professional and made the shoot strictly about enjoying the time with my
soon to be husband.
Lastly, the best part is our picture came out excellent! We were amazed at all the angles, creativity, and quality of our pictures. These pictures turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more!

Alex Rubin is an amazing photographer and super fun to work with! He is deffinitly worth every penny; your photographs will turn out better than you could ever imagine. My husband and I are not the most photogenic people in the world, and I was very nervous about how our wedding pictures would turn out. I received hunderds of images and loved 99% of them!
