Well you know that feeling that you ve been hosed! I need a 20pnt inspection for my employment, $ 100 dollars, here, $ 20 at Meineke, first off, then they failed me for uneven tire wear, even though tread depth was still good! I had to buy new tires to pass! 600 dollars later, I don’t fell this was accurate, but I don’t have time to argue with these folks, service was ok still took an hr and a half,

This place is great! The smogs are fast and cheap and it’s star certified. Oils are cheap with a coupon and they get the job done! Couldn’t ask for a better place to go to.

I’ve been coming here for all my auto repairs, tune ups, and smogs. These guys are professionals and courteous. They greet me with a smile and a cup of coffee if I want one. Highly recommend.

Bad service, bad pricing and they are neighbors (literally share a wall with) with Midas and Speedy which are much, much better.

I went in with a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation. Turns out they forgot to rotate the tires. Took my car back in the next day to have the tires rotated. No apology in fact they didn’t seem to care that they had made a mistake. A few days later I realized that 2 lug nuts were missing from my tire. Went back for a third time and had to wait almost 2 hours for these guys to find the correct lug nuts. They wasted my time not once, not twice but three times. No apology although the manager did offer a free oil change for all the «trouble» Seriously I would never take my car back there what a joke!

I have been going to Quality Tune-​Up Shops for quite a while now. Not only have they always been reliable when I needed a Smog Check and an Lube, but they have done various other services on my car when I needed them.
I have never had an instance when I wasn’t treated with the utmost of professionalism from this Shop, and I have never had them do anything to my car without asking my permission first. I have to say, in the years that I have been getting my car repaired, they do the best work and the best service. I’ve also never had a Vehicle fixed as fast as they have. They always treat me like my time is valuable and I never have to wait long. I’ve surprised them with Auto repairs on more than one occasion and they always help me quickly and for a fair price. NEVER have I walked away feeling like I could get better or cheaper work elsewhere.
I see a lot of people complaining about Smog Checks. look, no one likes getting a Smog Check and no one wants to fail one, but they let you know what needs to be done and they will do it if you want. It’s crappy to fail a smog check, but don’t shoot the messenger. We all fail them from time to time and if you are concearned get a diagnostic before you get your Smog Check and make sure you pass before you get it the first time.
I don’t live in Napa, but I return to Napa even though I live a half hour away because I would rather go here than anywhere else.

Thanks Ric for taking my vehicle after closing time! I’ve never had any issues with this place as a long time customer… although I have them pretty much stick to the basics– oil changes, etc. Nothing against the shop, but I have a «regular» mechanic for anything more than an air filter.

I wish we did not have to give a star, even one star is too much.
My husband went in for a cheap oil change, was told he needed brakes. Funny, it was NOT written on the paperwork, but told verbally to him.
We got a second opinion at GARY RAY’s across town, they said we absolutely did not need brakes.
The oil change is so cheap because others subsidize their overhead with services that they are duped into paying for. Don’t be a part of this, go somewhere else.

I happened upon this page of reviews because I was cruising Unilocal and was also needing a smog check. Of course I would NEVER get a smog check at Quality again after my previous experience, and after my story you will understand why.
A little over a year ago I went to Quality for a smog check because it was due and they had a good coupon price. Quality wasn’t the most pleasant place, and it took quite a while to have the smog check done, but that isn’t enough to justify a Unilocal one star rating.
While the technician was working on my car — but before the smog check was done — he came out and suggested that I needed to have some additional work done. He was very low key and soft spoken. He showed me «my» dirty air filter that he said should be replaced and he also suggested that I have the cooling system flushed. I don’t remember the exact quoted prices, but they were very high. He softly asked «would you like me to take care of these for you now?» I declined, with the pretext that I was planning on selling the car and that I didn’t want to put any more money into it.
In my line of work I maintain machinery, and naturally, I do my own car work as much as possible. I had JUST REPLACED my air filter, and I immediately recognized that the filter he SHOWED me was NOT MY FILTER — not even the same color!
This was an out and out attempt to sell me services that I did not need, and this «technician» had no basis to recommend them. Ironically, he did not see an obvious coolant leak from a failing water pump gasket — something I had not yet gotten around to repairing, but that obviously needed doing.
I am not proud to admit it, but I failed to follow up and report this incident to the State of California Bureau of Automotive Repair as I had intended to do. At this point in time, warning others as I am doing here now is about the best I can do.
My advice:
NEVER EVER, for ANY REASON, go to Quality Tune Up Shops for ANYTHING!

With a coupon they are the cheapest place to go for a smog check. However, when you car doesn’t pass they will offer to do corrective maintenance on your car for a starting rate of $ 120. I found out the hard way that if they are able to find out what’s wrong with your car but they are not able to fix the problem, you do not get your money back. Which means you have to go to a real repair shop to have the problem fix. When I questioned this type of practice, I was told that the $ 120 was only to identify the problem and I was taking a chance if it was something they can fix.
Fortunately I was in the waiting room when they tried to do the same thing to this poor lady getting an oil change. I told her my story and she was grateful. Now I am telling all of you my story too.

Agree with the other reviewers about upselling here. I’ve taken my car to get an oil change twice and each time they came back at me with other recommended services. But their prices are cheap, and they offer coupons too, if you’re willing to put up with this.

Where to begin?
I dropped the car off to have a diagnostic done before 11:00am (with a rude front end employee who seemed upset that someone had quoted a discounted price to me the previous afternoon) and was told that they would take a look at it within 10 – 15 minutes and give me a call with an answer as to what the problem might be.
When I still hadn’t heard from them by 2:00pm, I called and was told that they would get to it momentarily.
Shortly after (this was the only part of this transaction that will have the word shortly in it) the owner called back and said that they could fix the car, that it would be about 2.5hrs, and that because it was now 2:30, it wouldn’t be finished until the next day around noon.
(I brought the car in in the morning so that they would have the time to take a look and perform the work the same day & had been assured over the phone that this wouldn’t be an issue)
The following day, I waited for more than 35 minutes at the counter while an employee debated the merits of using an oil other than the type specified in her car’s manual. As a general rule, I stay away from shops that don’t seem to know the answer to these simple questions.…
Finally picked the car up. On the plus side, they fixed it. On the minus side, no apology, discount, or indication that they cared about the inconvenience caused by dealing with this for a day and a half.

waited for close to an hour to get my smog done @ 8am because the mechanic was late and didn’t get the machine calibrated in time. was told 15 – 20 minutes but it close to an hour. when my car failed they had no viable options for me and i took my car to another shop. when i returned later that day to have it re tested the receptionist was rude and unwelcoming. i stayed to have the test done at the discounted price, but needless to say i will not be coming back. i have used this shop for several years for various repairs and oil changes and every time it seems as if they need to upsell me to service that other shops fell isn’t necessary. hope your experience is better than mine
