Ian is awesome! I have struggled for years to find someone competent, reliable and trustworthy to handle repairs and improvement projects at my house in Napa, and Ian is the man! He actually got back to me on the same day I inquired, came to my house when I was ready and was right on time. Ian gave me estimates for painting my interior, installing baseboards throughout the house, installing doors, installing a new sink and fixing various things. Not only did he get everything done perfectly and in a timely manner, but his actual costs came in under the estimates. I can’t say enough about the quality of his work and his professionalism. The only problem is that he is so good, he’s in high demand!

I’m 8 months pregnant and have been in a serious nesting phase. This means that everything I wanted to be done around our house has become paramount. I’m so happy I found Ian to help with all these tasks my husband has simply never gotten around to. He fixed my garbage disposal, my dishwasher, hung a bunch of mirrors safely and securely, changed light switches, repaired holes in my daughters nursery, etc. You won’t find a nicer, more professional, or handier guy around. Hire him, I guarantee you will be so happy you did!

To say that Ian is great at what he does is an understatement, he is the most professional, easy to work with, honest person I have dealt with. I go to him for everything and he can do anything from carpentry to painting to flooring. He is the best!

Thanks Unilocalers! We found Ian on Unilocal and couldn’t be happier. We called him to replace a screen door which he did easily and quickly. Then on a whim we asked if he knew anything about water fountains because the controller to ours had fallen apart. The fountain had been nonoperational for over 6 months and we couldn’t find a replacement that worked and the landscaper that installed it has apparently gone out of business. Ian looked at it and said, «I think I can fix it». He got his soldering gun and completely fixed it so it works perfectly. What a great resource and a super guy! Highly recommend Ian.

I chose Ian after reading all the positive Unilocal reviews and I am so glad I did. He was at the house by himself most of the time and I could leave for a week and come back to a perfectly completed project. He finished and painted 3 floors, painted the entire interior of the house, completed the installation of crown molding and other sundry tasks. I trust him 100% and frankly, you would be hard-​pressed to find a nicer guy.

I hired Ian several times for different projects. He is punctual, professional and very good at what he does. In fact I had a major construction done by a major construction company. They did a poor job on many parts of the house, then I had to hire Ian to correct and repair what they did wrong. Ian is fantastic!

Can’t say enough about Ian. We’ve been working with him for a few years now, on various projects. Ian does great work, is very easy to work with, punctual, knowledgeable, and very well priced.
We feel very comfortable having him in our home, and LOVE the quality of work. i was relieved that david was so prompt to stop by to give an estimate, but he disassembled the bathroom vent fan and left, saying he’d get the right parts. he didn’t. he also never returned multiple phone calls.

Thank you David at Handier! He did a bunch of repairs and installations at my new rental, and I couldn’t be happier. He clearly knew his stuff, suggested some other repairs I might want to make for safety reasons, and did everything expertly and quickly! On top of that — what a nice, friendly person. These guys are my go-​to handymen from now on!

Reading through other recommendations makes me smile. Indeed, Ian is fantastic («as good as it gets», as others have said) and we are thrilled to have finally found a dependable, kind, competent handyman.
Ian spent the past week at our home, doing basement renovations and a few minor electrical, painting, etc. repairs. He completed everything to our expectations, on time and even under budget (which was economical to begin with).
Our «main» project was the basement. He tackled that like a pro. We also asked for his help trouble-​shooting some quirky electrical issues. We didn’t know if he’d have the expertise to do this too, but it turned out he did a great job and exceeded our expectations. This has saved us a bundle of hassle, time and extra expense.

Ian is as good as it gets — only better! He has done many different jobs around our 16 unit building and for many of the unit owners. He is honest, reliable, trustworthy. The real deal. Call Ian if you need help. He’s the best handy man I’ve ever worked with.

I highly recommend Ian of Handier. He helps me manage the planned and unexpected repairs list that comes with managing six apartments within two buildings. He’s nice, efficient, and reasonably priced.

We just used Ian to help out on a number of projects around the house. He was in a word, awesome. He is very reliable, fast, nice, easygoing, reasonably priced and gave a very realistic assessment of the time and cost of our projects. It seemed that there weren’t many things that Ian could not do. Some of the stuff he did for us:
1. Installed new ceramic floor tile in the bathroom (including removing and reinstalling a toilet)
2. Painted two rooms including ceilings and trim
3. Installed numerous light fixtures including fixing some of the electrical issues that you might find in a very old building that isn’t necessarily up to code.
4. Installed a new utility sink
5. Installed both floor and ceiling trim in bathrooms
6. Installed a variety of other things (curtain rod, towel racks, toilet paper holders, medicine cabinet, shelving, toilet seat)
We are very happy with the results and would not hesitate to use Ian again. In fact, we have a phase two coming in May/​June, and I will certainly call Ian!

I just had Ian come in to install a dishwasher last Friday at my company’s new office. He was on time, professional and the installation was done very well. He even went to the store and purchased the extra parts that we needed. Ian struck me as knowledgeable and his pricing was very fair. We received an invoice and I couldn’t be more pleased with the service and result. Awesome experience. I will definitely use him as my go to handyman in the future.

Ian came by to do a bunch of work. Hung a 30-​pound mirror in drywall (no easy feat), put in a few screws into concrete to hang pictures from, installed bookcase overbalance protection hardware, and helped increase the water pressure in a sink (and gave me suggestions on how to fix it for the shower). Also was upfront if a task just was not doable due to limitations of the product at hand I had, or if the task might me get in trouble b/​c it could be a renter’s no-​no (like forcefully removing part of a window).
He was on time, efficient, and knowledgable… and I would certainly use him again.

Add me to the list of people who are thrilled with Ian’s work. He arrives on time, with all the proper tools, and works quickly and neatly. Not to mention he’s just an overall really nice guy. Here’s a rundown of what he’s done in my place so far:
1. Painted an entire bedroom with horizontal stripes (perfectly straight and he also picked up the paint from the store)
2. Assembled Ikea armoire and bolted it to the wall (after he drove to the Ikea in Emeryville and picked it up for me)
3. Assembled CB2 credenza
4. Assembled Z Gallerie desk
5. Installed bathroom light fixture
6. Removed old drapery rod, installed new one and hung curtains
7. Organized wires behind entertainment center so they wouldn’t drag on the floor
I will definitely keep on calling him — he’s just awesome. I would recommend him to anyone.

I’ve been working with Ian for over a year now, and he’s fantastic! When I first met him, I had interviewed several other people to help me build and set up my fitness studio. One told me he would have to knock down several walls to help me meet my goals. Another told me it was impossible.
Thankfully, I called Ian, and we devised a plan that didn’t include demolition, and was very reasonable in terms of a timeline and price. He worked quickly, showed up on time, I trusted him with the keys to the business, and he even cleaned up.
Since that first project, I’ve called on him several times for smaller jobs, and the quality of his work has been just as amazing. I recommend him to all of my friends. He’s great!
