this is usually my go to place… Davis has been doing my hair off and on for many years… I never have to worry about the results…

I had a destination wedding in Napa and had no idea who to use for my hair. I found David on Unilocal and after numerous emails (I was living in LA at the time) we finally set a trial for when I moved to the East Bay. All I can say is that David is a true artist. He takes into account the theme of your wedding, your dress, your make up and your personality.
I brought him a TON of looks I was considering and we talked through each ones pros and cons before deciding on the one that was just right for me! He took two hours during my consult to discuss everything and do my trial, and even kept my extensions after the appt. so he could prep them before the day of the wedding to save time.
He’s VERY busy so don’t be discouraged if he doesn’t get back to you right away, he’s worth it. My hair looked fabulous ALL day!
The workshop is just that, a quaint, beautiful space where he creates art for your hair. :)
One of my bridesmaids and my mother got their hair done there as well, and they both loved it and looked beautiful. I didn’t find his prices to be outrageous, but coming from LA I am used to paying a lot when it comes to my hair and on a day this important, you want a PRO! He was worth every penny! He also has a make up artist who does beautiful work, but I had already decided to do my own.
Thank you David for making me look so beautiful on my wedding day! If I ever have the need to get my hair done in Napa again, he will be my only call.

Had an appt at 10am, stylist Mia never showed up. Never called or text back to explain the no show, waited an hour. No one else there could help. Very unprofessional. Never will go back.

Great location, and I love how the look of the salon. –tools for the beauty stations. Very modern and different (in a good way). Norma has been my stylist for years and she is an AMAZING stylist. I would not go with anyone else!!! The staff is all so helpful and kind. They offer a nice robe to wear for your appointment, which is a nice touch as well.

David is the BEST! I can’t say enough good things about him and his work! I came to him with a huge mess of sewed in hair extensions and he worked his magic and they have never looked better! Although applying extensions is not a quick process, three hours felt like three minutes and I left the salon a very happy client. His prices are very reasonable and his works over-​delivers for the price. I would recommend him to any of my friends, especially those interested in hair extensions.

Hannah cuts and colors my hair. She is awesome! She gives me great tips on styling, is very honest about what looks good and I am always happy with the finished product!

As a hopeful first time customer, I called to make and confirm an appointment for the following day to see the top stylist in the shop. I even received a nice email confirmation.
I showed up for the appointment early only to wait for 20 min for the stylist to arrive (she was running errands). After asking about the delay, the receptionist finally decided to call the stylist to find out that she thought the appointment was for another day.
How could it be that I wait for 20 min to get this info? And how could it be that it was only discovered when I asked? This was a complete business and service failure and a tremendous waste of my time and busy day.
They were kind enough to ask if I wanted to reschedule. THANKS BUT NO THANKS!

David is absolutley magical when it comes to hair. I have the finest, straightest hair you’ll ever see and almost everywhere I’ve ever gone has messed up my hair. But not David. I almost cried I was so happy!
You can’t go wrong here.

I’m an easy customer. I usually wear my hair in a bun or ponytail, but I want a cut that just looks good coming out of a hairband. My husband gets cut and highlighted and is there every two weeks. He likes David– doesn’t come home with a bunch of product bottles he’ll never figure out how to use just cuz the stylist recommended it, and he looks damn good even just out of the shower.
Kudos to that little studio next to the cemetery, they do a damn fine job!

I am thrilled to recommend David Magna Workshop now that they have hired Hannah Volk. She is fantastic and does amazing work.

My family and I were in Napa for a wedding. David and his staff came to our house to do hair and makeup. Both the hair styling and makeup were fabulous. David is definitely the best, Beverly Hills quality!

I love Margaret! She is such an awesome hairdresser! You will not be sad if she does your hair… for serious.

I got married at Travigne this past NYE. It was a last minute wedding I had to throw together in a month and had no idea what to do as far as hair, dress, style, etc… Margaret from the David Magna Workshop was awesome! We decided on a structured up-​do with these neat twists, curls and coils. She did a great job! I have had my hair done as a bridesmaid for friend’s weddings in the past and I have never been happy. I was thrilled with this one, thankfully. because it was my own wedding!

So my girlfriend and I live in Santa Rosa, and she has been having an awful time finding a stylist in town that is worth what they charge for a haircut. That was putting nicely. Anyway, I was having dinner with my sister and the subject came up. She reminded me that she gets her haircut in Napa by a rock star stylist named David Magna. For me, it’s long way to go for a stylist but it seemed that my girl was over having mediocre experiences locally, and was willing to go to any lengths for fantastic frocks, so, I booked an appointment…
We arrived a few minutes early and while sitting in the car my beau looked at me and said «this guy better be good»… I wasn’t worried, my sister’s hair always looks fabulous.
David is a charismatic personality and is just all around über-​cool guy, but not pretentious. The first thing he said when my girlfriend sat in his chair was «how can we make you anymore beautiful». It was obvious to him that she was slightly apprehensive and his calm confidence reassured both of us that he was king of his domain. She explained her hair type, the things she liked about her current style, and the vision she had for it’s evolution. He listened very carefully and shared his thoughts about her concerns and how he would integrate a solution into her cut. Then he got into more specific goals for her style by clarifying several details and offering options regarding the length of her bangs (for example) and used descriptive analogies that she could relate to. Like — «if we cut the bangs like this it will result in an edgier look, like Betty Page». It was evident by the way he spoke about hair, that he is a passionate stylist… A cut above the rest, no pun intended.
All of his attention to detail — getting to know a first time client quickly, his ability to generate trust, his cool way of setting clients at ease and making them feel pampered, and his entertaining personality, were all very impressive… he had yet to cut a single strand of hair !
The hair cut was phenomenal. My gf was stunned. She kept saying «I never thought my hair could look like this». For the first 30 minutes of the ride home she kept opening the sun visor, looking at her hair in the mirror, closing it, then reopening, and saying «i just can’t believe it»!
This literally happened like ten times. It put a smile on my face.
Needless to say, she booked her next appointment before leaving the workshop. I am sooo happy that we made the trip David Magna’s Workshop. It was well worth the 40 minute drive from Santa Rosa.
This guy is a rock star stylist and he makes his clients feel like rock stars too!

David did my hair for my wedding and he has also done color for me as well. He is great at both. One thing he is really great at is figuring out what you want, and working patiently with you until you find it. When figuring out a hairstyle for my wedding, I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do-​up? down? curls? straight? He has a lot of experience in this area, so he asked about my dress, and brought up things I never would have thought to consider. We tried a couple different looks but nothing settled but he was totally patient the whole time. We finally found something that worked perfectly.
It is a little hard to find, across from a cemetery… last time I went there was no sign or anything out front, I think it is supposed to be like that on purpose.
On the day of my wedding, he brought another 2 hairdressers and also arranged for my makeup. Most of my bridesmaids and my mother and mother-​in-​law got their hair done and everyone was happy.
David is also great with color. He is very up on the newest techniques and trends which is nice-​since I have no idea what they are! I might want my hair to look like Gisele’s hair, but he can tell me if that is realistic and exactly the cut and color she got in that photo and what we need to do to get there.
When you are with David, you get a feeling that you are on the same team together, working toward a common goal which is nice. I would highly recommend David to anyone looking for a good place to go in napa, or who is getting married anywhere in the Napa region.
