We went to eat here while on a family vacation to the outer banks. After we ordered and had our appetizers, we were looking through the menu to see what else they had incase we wanted to make a return trip. that’s when I noticed they had a menu item called the WOP salad«New Orleans Italian». Go ahead a do a quick google search on Italians and New Orleans. What you’ll find is a long history of lynchings and a massacre of almost 300 people in a matter of days. I thought this inappropriate since there are no other racially related menu items to fit a «theme». When I said something to management he stated that the company is based in New Orleans and they are aware of the history and maintain that its meant to be a joke and think its funny/cute. I couldn’t disagree more. Very tasteless.

We arrived at 8pm and were advised that it would be a 15 minute wait. We expected to wait as we had a party of 8 but we did not get seated for 45 minutes and had to sit at separate tables. After ordering, we did not receive our food until almost 10 o’clock. Then, the food was not very hot and really was not very good. None of us «loved» our food but it was not terrible. For 8 of us the bill was $ 240. Restaurant was gimmicky and the food is not worth the price. Would not recommend.

Good seafood. AYCE options. We’ll be happy to return on our next trip to the OBX.

We wanted very much so to eat here, let’s face it, the name is hilarious! We looked around and made it in the front door only to be greeted by a 91(that’s basically a B) sanitation grade. As someone that has worked in the hospitality industry, you really have to mess up to get a grade that low. I wasn’t willing to stay to eat, but we did get a funny t-shirt.

To begin with, we’d tried to eat at a different location in Avon and they closed early when they saw us entering the parking lot. We called the Nags Head location and they stayed open for us till we got there where our server and the manager were extremely welcoming and provided top notch service. The meal starts off with the best hush puppies you ever had and if you like a little spice, my mother and I had Bloody Mary’s topped with half the kitchen including a crab leg. My boyfriend and I both had the full order of snow crab legs and that is PLENTY of leg to go around. They came out hot and we cleaned our plates. My mother and her friend had the stuffed grouper, Cajun mash potatoes and broccoli which is also highly recommended. After spending all day driving around, this was a happy ending to a long day. You want fried crap for cheap go to long john silvers. You won’t regret your visit as long as you’re there for quality seafood at market price.

Went for the restaurant week deal. All 3 courses were large portions. I had the Mahi and my wife had the prime rib. Both were excellent. Huge piece of Key lime pie that we both had to box up. Overall great deal for $ 35. Thought the regular menu item prices were on the high side. Obvious tourist trap with the décor and gift shop.

A touristy place but with decent service and some great finds on the menu. The crab melt is fantastic but everything else I’ve had fell short.

We stopped in for lunch on a rainy and cold day. The ambiance was welcoming and although it was just after the lunch hour, we found many of the tables occupied. They offer a variety of fried and steamed seafood. I selected a nice fried shrimp platter along with a starter of half pound of steamed shrimp. The shrimp were definitely a good size. The night prior at a place in Duck, we had the smallest shrimp I had ever seen. Dirty Dicks definitely out-sized the other restaurant with their large platter of fried shrimp and fries. This place will definitely be on my radar on our next visit to the OBX.

I can only speak to walking in at lunch time. We were seated in an empty section where 3 tables near us were dirty, like food all over, gross, dirty. The woman who sat us went back to the front and sat down to talk to someone. No one else came over, we had menus but nothing to drink and I was thirsty. We waited for almost 10 minutes and then walked out without anyone ever coming over to our table. The menu was boring and I got the feeling that they only get business from tourists. I do feel that I’m being a little unfair giving it only 1 star not having eaten the food or experienced to service… But then again, that wasn’t our fault.

When vacationing at the Outer Banks, we always make it a point to dine on fried, grilled and steamed seafood! Crabby Dicks is located just prior to the Food Lion Shopping center at MP10.5 The restaurant had some cute décor(reminiscent of a sailor’s shanty). The menu was huge: fried, steamed, etc… The table had an eye catching special: AYCE crab legs, steamed shrimp, fried shrimp, fried fish, and fried scallops. They also include boiled potatoes, sausage and corn. OMG, just re-reading this has overwhelmed me! There are hush puppies to start the meal. The server started out with the steam crab legs and proceeded to bring the other items once I completed each entrée. They don’t combine the items so if you want a variety, then order your next choice once your selection arrive. Everything was hot and fresh. Hubby ordered the fried shrimp platter. He was surprised at the large portion. Services was great! We always had full glasses of soda and tea. This is definitely a better option than«the buffet’ served at other OBX locations.

Great experience! Amy was our server and was so nice and attentive. We had a large group of people with us, but didn’t wait long for our food. The Bloody Mary was amazing and came complete with a crab leg. The hush puppies were delicious! We love the atmosphere there. Good food, spectacular server! We will be back soon!

Went with a group of 14 people, half of which were kids. The service was fantastic! They had no problem with separate checks for each family, and handled it all without a glitch. Almost all the adults got the all you could eat crab legs which were incredible! Large and cooked perfectly! Came with 2 red potatoes and corn on the cob and a piece of sausage. When you order more you can order more crab legs or steamed or fried shrimp, fried scallops or fried fish. They would bring more before you even finished what you had. The steamed shrimp, fried scallops and fried fish was wonderful! Nobody left hungry or with 1 complaint. They bring baskets of hush puppies for the table and they were so good! We had bloody Mary’s that were a meal in themselves with shrimp, okra, a crab leg and more in them! We will definitely be back!

Great crab legs! The service was alright. Our waiter was cute and very attentive. But it took him a while to warm up to us and start smiling, William I believe. Gift shop is hilarious we come every year. I just wish the hosts and everyone where more inviting !!! Oysters on the half shell where really good too, yet I have had bigger being from New England and all lol

Was expecting a bad meal based on the cheesy name. Was very much surprised by the quality of the food and attentive service. Came for lunch and the restaurant was very busy. The wait staff made it feel like we where the only customers in the place. Portions where monstrous and full flavored. Best yet our drinks never ran empty. We will return! This is a well earned 5 star rating!

Over rated… tourist trap… very pricey… Seafood they have good selection on their menu. Place is clean, Service is good and portion sizes are good. Lots of T-shirts and other tourist gift items in their shop. You can do much better on seafood at other places around this place is very high-priced and very touristy. It’s not where the locals go.

Wholly Crap that is a lot of food. A bunch of us showed up after giving them a head count… then realizing we can’t count. ANYWAY, Richard did such an awesome job and the food tasted sooooo good. Had the seafood bowl which contained shrimp, crab meat lobster and scallops. Just awesomely delicious. Wifey had oysters and crab legs which she loved. Could go on but there were 9 of us and all the food looked great.

OMG I ate alligator!!! When in Rome they say… well Dirty Dicks is the same concept since there are not very many locations. Stopped in there last year while in Duck, NC for vacation. I had the fish tacos but wasn’t all too thrilled with them… they came in a very thin homemade tortilla shell that almost instantly fell apart from the wet of the slaw and salsa. The fries were good but when I tried the alligator I was so completely thrilled from the idea I was eating alligator as well as the taste– it was awesome. There was also this amazing pasta with this oh my gosh AMAZING what I think they call Cajun Alfredeaux… holy cow; so crazy good! The drinks the bartender hooked up were OFFTHECHART!!! and you get to keep the cups. Everyone was pretty satisfied for the most part in my party. But I had a blast and am actually really upset you can only get this in NC. Can’t wait to go back; we love the OBX so we’ll be heading back soon and I can’t wait!
