UNPROFESSIONAL. RUDE. IRRESPONSIBLE. The staff mishandled money given to family and refuse to apologize or take any responsibility. We discovered this when our bank check was cashed by someone other than who the check was written to. The family member didn’t even know we had given her a check in the safety box on at the memorial station, because the funeral home never game them to her, but just sent them on to a charity without checking! We were shocked to know that we left the check in their locked box at the wake and trusted it would be given to the family as directed on the envelope, yet the only thing given to family were copies of envelopes, not the contents! We went on to fix this ourselves with the bank and the other party, and did get more money to the family as intended, however we wanted to let the Funeral Home staff know what had occurred. Our bank considered this incident as a form of check fraud, even if accidental, but it’s significant, and we addressed it courteously and carefully to ensure all parties involved knew it took place and prevent a possible repeat. We politely contacted the funeral home to notify them this happened so that it didn’t happen again to others when money was left similarly in their care, but we received nothing but rude and nasty comments from the funeral home staff, especially no apology, no ownership, but just blame on the other parties. We have emails to document and verify this uncalled for, unprofessional behavior and lack of acknowledgment over a significant mistake. We couldn’t believe the response was so harsh and disrespectful from the owner himself! Despite his inappropriateness, we hope the message got across: Money needs to be handled more carefully in their establishment and business. Through this all, we are sadly left with more questions: How many other checks have been mishandled or given to the wrong individuals or organizations? How many cash envelopes haven’t made their destinations either? When families are grieving loved ones, and paying large amounts of money for services, these should not be a question at all! Would never use their business as a result of our experience. Would never recommend them to any one else as well.

Crain Funeral Home handled the cremation and burial for both my parents and the placement of a military headstone for my brother-in-law. Their staff was kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and did not apply any pressure to buy services or other things I did not really need. Everything went as smoothly and seamlessly as if I had planned for this occasion for months when at the end I selected this location because it was closest to the bodies. Crain also offers a special memorial at the end of each year which provided a lovely memento of the service… I couldn’t have been more pleased with the outcome.
