The Lucky Penny’s friendly team serves up fresh FOOD, handcrafted COCKTAILS, and LIVE MUSIC in a newly renovated yet casual setting. Enjoy comfortable inside or outdoor patio seating.

Our kitchen menu is designed using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients we can find, each dish is cooked to order and beautifully presented. While we call it pub food, it is definitely not your typical pub fare. Every item is a unique treat; you’ll want to try them all!

To compliment the food we have full bar — featuring fresh herbs, juices, garnishes and house made syrups. Enjoy one of our uniquely handcrafted cocktails such as the Copper Penny or Mexican Flower (served up in an ice cold copper mug). We also have a rotating selection of draft beer and many local wines to choose from.

History

Established in 2015.

We’re the new kid on the block in Murphys. We are adding another great place to enjoy a delicious bite to EAT, a refreshing DRINK, and LIVE MUSIC downtown.

Owners, Nathan and Jolene Lee, have been in love with the area for the past 20 years. It has long been our dream to become a part of this vibrant and authentic community. When we saw the opportunity to reimagine the property right at the edge of Main Street, we knew we had to take the leap.

We’re passionate about great food, drinks, stellar service, and the local music scene. We believe in sourcing local and organic when possible. And above all else, creating an amazing workplace where our employees are just as passionate about giving our guests the best experience possible.

The staff was friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was having dinner at a friends home… a friend that cooks really well! The fish and chips were the best I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t think I’d like the Rosemary/garlic fries but they had just the right amount of herbs but a little too salty for my liking. My waitress saw that I wasn’t eating my fries and asked why. I told her about the amount of salt. She promptly brought me another order without salt and without me asking for it. I’d eat here again.

I stopped in the Lucky Penny on Friday night. I ordered the ahi sandwich and salad. It was delicious! There was a generous portion of perfectly cooked ahi fanned inside this wonderful creation. The chocolate truffles were melt-in-my-mouth good! The very best part of my experience was the cute little bartender named Emily, with a salty sense of humor. She controlled whole crowd and kept her custom drinks pouring. I will definitely be back

Passing through the area… from Cleveland. Food was great, the pub burger, you won’t be disappointed. Good beer on tap. Also got a really good drink. The staff was great as well. They had live music too, it was good. not too loud. If I am ever around here again, I will go back. Man… that burger was good.

Worse thing about a review of this nature is that I’m local to Murphys, but the reality is that this is a place where you get quality food (Thank you, Jeremy!), and «Bitchin» customer service (That would be Marianne, Oli, and of course, Emily — the saucy one), and finally throw in Jo, Nate, and dear, dear Darlene, and you have a «neighborhood» place that will please you beyond compare. Make sure you try the crab cakes!!!

Under new ownership. Great beers on tap. I had the Fish and Chips. I’ve had fish and chips all over the country. These are top 5 I’ve ever had! Reasonable prices. Worth checking out.

This was the second time I’ve been here on a Saturday night and it was even more fun than the last! The band was lively, the dancing was friendly, the drinks were chilled and yummy.
For a small town, this is a unique place. I like the layout of the establishment… very welcoming. Like walking up the patio steps to a friend’s cabin. And each time I visit, I’m greeted with a warm smile. Thank you!

Visiting from Ohio and this restaurant was amazing. We checked in on Unilocal and received a free order of garlic fries that were to die for. Be sure to order the fish and chips. Fresh fish, fresh grease and great Cole slaw. So happy!
The staff was so friendly and fast, too. Felt like I had been coming here for years.

Spent a week in the Murphys area recently and had to give the Lucky Penny visit. Not once, not twice, but three times! I love what they have done with the place, the atmosphere is great, the staff is amazing, the chef does an outstanding job. The first visit I gave the Lump Crab Mac & Cheese a try and it was so delicious, the second time we stopped by for an afternoon snack and I had the Brownie with Strawberry Ice Cream (from the local Ice Cream Shop) it surely hit my sweet spot! The third time was on Saturday night for dinner & music, I had the Fish & Chips this time and once again they held true to the first two visits. Oh my you have to try the yummy Rosemary & Garlic Fries look out taste buds!!!
Then it was time for the music… they clear out the back room of tables and swing open the doors and we had live music! What a great place, enjoyed the food, the service, the music. I had seen photos of their «Mad Mary» Bloody Mary and had to give that a shot… WOW is all I can say!
I’ll be back again for sure and telling everyone I know!!!

Had a great salad. Baby beet and grapefruit salad. Hubby had a fabulous Pub burger. Very well seasoned. The owners Nate and Jo were very accommodating and involved in the servicing of all their patrons. Our server… Oli was very vivacious and in tuned with our requests. I had fish n chips personally I would have like the fish more dense. But wife had the pub house burger and she would not stop raven about it while eating it. Definitely gourmet type flavors., special sauces which are quit unique.

Although we miss the Nugget, this place is quite impressive. We ate here for our first time yesterday and ordered: mad Mary’s, a beet/grapefruit/goat cheese salad, and a burger & fries. And wow! The bacon and pickled veggies in the Mary, the burger (OMGyum), the fries and special ketchup dip sauce. all so so so good! The only thing is the salad was a bit small; it was real tasty, so of course we would have loved a few more bites. But we’ll definitely be back to try more. On a side note, I think that burger is in my top 3, for sure. Next time, I’m gonna splurge and add bacon. Mmmm. Bacon.

We came here for lunch. It’s a small, rustic restaurant. The menu is very small and you have limited selection of appetizers, salads, house specials and burgers.
We ordered the Pub Salad, local greens with heart of plans, baby carrots, smoked feta and herb dressing. The herb dressing and heart of palms made this light salad. It’s a nice salad to have in warm weather.
My husband and I ordered a Garlic chicken burger to share. It had melted emmentaler, applewood smoked bacon on focaccia bun. They cut it up for us and served the halves, separately. The chicken patty was very tender, however, a little too salty.
It also came with garlic fries and it was served in a mason jar, so cute.
My son got the grilled cheese with fries. It also had a choice of milk or apple juice for $ 8.
The overall ambiance of this place was adorable. They had an impressive bar at the front and a tv over a fireplace in the back. The tables had fresh flowers in mason jars. Cute place.
Our bill came came out to $ 50 (two beers included) with tip. Not bad.
The service was good.

This place is the best of both worlds. Casual pub atmosphere with 5 star food. I had the Lump Crab Shells and Vermont Cheddar which was a decadent high end Mac n cheese. My husband had the pub burger which he devoured and he is a bit of a burger snob. He loved it AND the Rosemary Fries that comes with it. I tried them and they are unique and delicious.
If you are in Murphys, the vicinity, or driving by… I definitely recommend making a stop here.

I was staying in Angels Camp recently with my family and decided I would check Unilocal to see what kind of bars and restaurants were in the area. I saw the picture of their bloody mary, and I knew I just had to try it! I’m not the biggest fan of bloody marys, but something about them being filled with bacon and other food items get me excited! They call it Mad Mary and Her Three Little Pigs, meaning it was a bloody mary with bacon three ways. I just had to find out what those three ways were!
After going to eight wineries that day, things were starting to get a little hazy, but I didn’t want to leave Murphys without trying this drink! We went inside and took a seat at the bar. The inside was very nice and modern, with a few other parties inside. I’m not sure if it was because of the drink I ordered or what, but it took the guy probably about 10 minutes to make our drinks. I heard him yell to the kitchen that he needed bacon so I’m assuming that’s what took some time. They make their own mix and it is very delicious but pretty spicy! I’m not quite sure what three ways the bacon were, but I really enjoyed the full piece of bacon in my drink, but not so much all the crumbled bacon that was at the bottom. Near the end of the drink it started tasting kind of weird and I didn’t really want to finish it. When my drink was about 70% gone, the bartender did ask if we wanted another round since the drink would take a little while to make. Even though I didn’t want another drink, I did appreciate him asking.

Went into The Lucky Penny during our trip to Murphys. I have to say, this restaurant is absolutely FANTASTIC! My wife had the Pork Belly sandwich and I had the Pub Burger which they were absolutely delicious! Both were cooked to PERFECTION!
The décor was rustic-ly modern. Apparently, after talking story with the staff, this is a new restaurant which used to be a biker bar. Based on what we saw, we would have never believed it if we saw it.
We highly recommend The Lucky Penny for anyone who is looking for GREAT food, that will cause you to want to try everything on the menu.
We definitely were «Lucky» to find this gem on our trip!
