Pa Bunk’s is a natural/​organic grocery store located on the square in downtown Murfreesboro. Pa Bunk’s specializes in hard to find natural/​organic groceries, gluten free & other food allergy products, and LOTS of local products! We currently offer products from more than 30 local producers (from locally roasted Fair Trade/​Organic Coffee, to Local milk!)

We also have a café inside that offers a full service coffee/​espresso bar featuring coffee/​espresso from Just Love Coffee Roasters roasted right here in Murfreesboro, TN. The café also features a full service JUICE BAR where we offer juice from a variety of organic fruits and vegetables. Additionally we offer grab-​and-​go lunch items from «Health Nut Sandwich Co.» made fresh in house everyday.

Stop by for all your organic grocery needs; grab coffee or juice; enjoy a quick bite at our café; or just hang out for spell and people watch from our downtown view window seats.

History

Established in 2011.

Here’s a little back story. Pa Bunk (Paca Bunk as we called him) was our Grandfather, and a farmer his whole life. The name Bunk Grisham was well known in Smith County, TN for 2 reasons. One, he grew the best food and sold the best honey you could find anywhere. Two, with his wife of more than 50 years, Mamie Bell Grisham (Grandmama), they raised 10 children on the meager earnings of a farmer. Although Paca Bunk & Grandmama are no longer with us, their belief that the best food comes straight from nature lives on.

While attending college I lost 120 pounds and gradually migrated toward a clean, organic, and active lifestyle. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University in 2004 I spent 5 years in the United States Army. In 2011 I returned home to TN with the desire to bring healthy, clean food choices to the people know and love.

Definitely just a grocery store with a coffee bar. I went expecting a grab and go lunch, but options were limited to bags of chips or granola bars. Coffee was ok.

Small shop off the square in Murfreesboro that is full of thoughtfully chosen food and sundries ranging from soaps to oils. Lunch is available and I will need to try it.
They have coffees, teas and juices that can be customized with healthy-​additives. Dried seaweed. Tomato paste. Beef and Bison and Turkey bars. Organic coconut water. Gluten-​free pasta. In other words, just come in and do some browsing and like me, I’m sure you will find something you like.
No, this is not a commercial, but I truly enjoyed my visit and will be back again. If you are looking for something in particular they will gladly custom order it for you.

Love the juices and the wheatgrass, I’m not a big fan of the taste of wheatgrass but use it for the health benefits, and this one tasted alright! The cure is my favorite juice with orange — carrots — ginger. Atmosphere of the place is awesome and they have bunches of healthy foods available!

In love with this market. They offer a lot of allergen– free gluten-​free stuff, which is perfect for someone like me. My husband and I had a little picnic outside after buying gluten-​free (pre-​wrapped) sandwiches, chips, and sweet treats. Nice view of downtown Murfreesboro.

Great place to grab organic grocery items in Murfreesboro on the square. They have hard to find items that regular grocery stores do not have in stock. Try their sandwiches and soups for a quick lunch, they are delicious!

I really try to support local businesses but when a store charges $ 8 for tooth paste that I can get at Kroger for $ 4, I’m not game. I realize that it must cost more to have a store on the square but come on.

Based on the name I thought this place was yet another BBQ place (sorry). It wasn’t until I was on here searching for reviews that I found out that it is indeed not a BBQ joint.
The selection of products here is small, less than Sunshine. This place is more of a quick stop off place for a grab-​n-​go pre-​made lunch and maybe an unusual juice bottle or two.
I did notice that this place does have some interesting items that I do not see at say Publix or Sunshine, but I was a little thrown off by the lack of oils. No sesame oil, etc. which is what I was really looking for. Now I won’t rank on the supply volume of this place because basically from a business perspective you don’t want to have more stock than you can sell based on the volume of clientele you attract.
According to the clerk they do carry small flats of wheatgrass for about $ 3 and some change on a regular basis (unlike Sunshine where you can order a large $ 10 flat).
It looks like they have decent sandwiches and the wraps in the case were pretty big. I was excited that they had Tomato Dill soup (which I can never find anywhere) for the soup of the day, but I didn’t buy any because I was still on the hunt for sesame oil for oil pulling. I will be heading back to Sunshine for cold pressed coconut oil instead. Really disappointed at both places. I’ll get over it.
I would think of this place as more of I-​want-​something-​different-​to-​try-​today than anything else.
They do have wheatgrass shots.
While it may not be their goal, it would be nice to see the style of this place merged with Sunshine Nutrition’s volume of products and supplements.

I love the look, feel, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere of Pa Bunks! Murfreesboro is more than ready for an all natural grocery store! There is another health food store in town, but Pa Bunks is a cut above what others have to offer. The wood flooring, tables, juice bar, fresh food bar, grocery items, and deli offer a great selection of gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and juice enthusiast options. There is even a section with cloth diapers and other clothing made from recycled materials. The price is fairly comparable to other shops of this type. I wish the staff was more helpful though. This store is fairly new to Murfreesboro and the only one of its type in this area, so for a newbie the store can be somewhat overwhelming. It seems that the staff is very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions, however they rarely approach YOU to ask if you need assistance. So if you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask! Overall, great place and one of my new favorites!

I love Pa Bunks. I don’t get much in the way of groceries there, I usually pick up cloth diapers that Green Pixie stocks there. But I usually come in and grab a snack and some juice for my kids. I have met the owner several times and think he is a great guy. I have always had good service, great coffee, delicious soup… seriously, no problems here!

I wanted to get an evening walk after being cooped up all day in a hotel conf room. I was pleasantly surprised to find this organic place while checking out the public square. It was getting ready to close, but Corey let my friend and I tour the store to check it out and we admired it so much, that he ended up chatting with us about the store, its beginnings, and concept. We came back to see if there were any sandwiches left and my friend scored on a vegan wrap and I got a yummy organic tuna wrap. There’s a great kombucha section and when all you have is Whole Foods GT options, the amazing variety he offers there is a jewel of a find. There’s a Saturday farmer’s market tomorrow morning we’re going to check out and Corey went out of his way to make sure we can get some more wraps for lunch to go/​the road. Thanks Corey for showing us the southern hospitality! We can’t wait to come back and pray you’ll get that cook/​teaching kitchen concept upstairs soon … remember: duplicate and delegate, delegate, delegate =)
Oh! and I love the name Pa Bunk … its got character!!!

I love this place. Don’t let the name (!) put you off. The juice bar is great and the prepared food is very good. A medium size collection of some hard to find organic foods. Friendly service. Parking has never been an issue for me either… I pop I about once a week sometimes more…

Not the friendliest staff. Definitely a market and not much of a café. I stood and looked at the coffee menu for a few minutes and was never acknowledged. My wife and I each had one of their pre-​made sandwiches which were not bad but were on the pricey side. The market has a good selection and my wife says she’ll be back.

Let me start off by saying that I LOVE the concept of this business. Murfreesboro is more than ready for an organic market option. I have just a few small points of constructive criticism for «Pa»:
1. My first trip to this market was for some bulk items. I wanted brazil nuts and a few other snack type items. While they had brazil nuts in stock, they were almost double the price of Whole Foods and were not fresh at all. I was only able to scrape up a small handful of the leftovers. I also wanted to purchase some produce but most of it (and there wasn’t much) had a dried up appearance. While I am 110% willing to pay more for a local product… I’m simply unwilling to give up quality. Perishables must be fresh!
2. This may sound ridiculous… but I think the image of Pa Bunk’s is a bit off putting. I don’t like the name or the logo. When this market was called «The Greenery», it sounded like the kind of place people wanted to talk about or be seen. I found myself hiding my receipt when friends piled into my car. I think the owner would do well to study more closely their target consumers (MTSU, hip twenty-something’s, health conscious folks of the square). The image is too «backwoods» and those types, more than likely, will be shopping at Walmart.
There’s my two-​cents. Believe me, I relish the thought of not having to drive 45 minutes every week for a WF and TJ’s run in Green Hills. I really hope they kick things up a notch! :)

I had an AWFUL experience here, where the owner, Cory Williams, actually accused me of lying to him. He called me one morning saying I my gallon of coconut oil was in, and I replied, confused, that I didn’t order a gallon of coconut oil. He immediately became defensive, called me a liar, told me I was losing him money, and then hung up on me!
I went down to the store to confront him in person. (Ridiculous that I actually had to do that!) And asked him why he (1) thought I ordered coconut oil and (2) why he was being so rude as to hang up on me and call me a liar!
He insisted I had ordered the coconut oil and told me that I was losing him money by not taking it off his hands. He then told me that he didn’t need a customer like me.
Like me!
Listen. As a customer, I intentionally support small businesses in my community. I also have recommended Pa Bunk’s in the past, which I will no longer do. I have revisited people I gave this recommendation to and told them of my recent negative experience. I am also a customer that buys in bulk quantities, because I often buy for multiple people. Kind of like a buying club. A natural result of this, is that people shop more at the places I buy from. This will no longer be the case for Pa Bunk’s.
Here’s why I know (beyond a doubt) that I didn’t order that 1 gallon bucket of coconut oil:
1. I don’t buy coconut oil in 1 gallon quantities. I buy in FIVE GALLON quantities.
2. I had a 5 gallon bucket sitting at home (still do).
3. Cory was saying the 1 gallon was $ 70. That’s ridiculous. I would never pay that! Not when I can get it for $ 46 somewhere else!
I was extremely disappointed and surprised at the way Cory Williams treated me, a GOOD customer, and just dismissed me, refusing to admit his mistake.
I urge you not to patronize this arrogant, foolish business owner. Everything in his store can be bought somewhere else, most things for better prices.

I eat here everyday for lunch… for two reasons:
1) this is the only place in murfreesboro to eat lunch that is guaranteed to not to kill you with give you type 2 diabetes… the food is fresh and healthy and i don’t need a nap in the middle of the afternoon…
2) the people who work here are dedicated to personal and friendly costumer service, as well as making the community of murfreesboro and the murfreesboro square a better more culturally enriched place to live…
they are dedicated to buying produce and meat from local farms, supporting local small business, and promoting the health and wellness of everyone in murfreesboro!
This is the best thing to happen to Murfreesboro…
come in for organic and local groceries or buy a sandwich for lunch!

Pa Bunk’s is an organic market located in Murfreesboro’s square. I was so excited upon hearing about Pa Bunk’s that I went there for lunch the day I heard about it. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed. One of the main draws of Pa Bunk’s for me is that there was finally somewhere healthy to eat close to where I work.
They boast a fresh salad bar, soup bar, and sandwiches all stocked by local organic foods. Yes, there was fresh salad, soup and sandwiches available, but they weren’t as good of offerings as I hoped. The salad bar consisted of greens, carrots, olives, cold pastas, granola, sunflower seeds and various dressings for toppings. I didn’t consider that much of a salad bar, especially after I paid almost $ 9.00 for the small salad and a bottled tea. Secondly, there is not a place to dress your salad with ease. Having to balance my wallet and keys while holding a flimsy box for my salad was awkward.
I shopped through the grocery area and was disappointed to see that all the organic products they had in stock were products that I could easily purchase at Target. Where were all the local products that I wanted to support? To top it all off, the staff was not friendly at all and I felt like I was out of place and was more of a bother to them by being there.
Disappointed. Obviously can’t say that enough.

Murfreesboro now has organic market Pa Bunk’s thanks to owner Corey Williams. Pa Bunks Natural Market is Murfreesboro’s modest answer to Whole Foods and has some elements of that store. William’s concept is to offer farm-​fresh eggs, milk, produce and groceries from producers as close to middle Tennessee as possible. Organic locavore is the goal although assorted products also come from other states like Kentucky and Alabama. A great little treat here is a steaming helping of hot organic oatmeal and a cup of espresso. The sandwiches are wholesome also. In the center of Murfreesboro not too far from MTSU this fresh grocery is long overdue, but has finally arrived. Thank goodness.
