History
Established in 1989.
Brian and Genny Gordy purchased their downtown Muncie shop after working out of their studio/shop for several years as artists and picture framers. Both graduates of the Ball State University Art Department, the couple began their careers as art teachers. The opportunity to work together in the art field became even more gratifying when son, Ben, joined the firm in 2002. Serious students of current and historical picture framing, both men have earned the designation, «Indiana Artisan,» for their individual gilded frame lines. Handcarving, restoration and gilding services separate the Gordy family business from typical frame shops in the Midwest. Additionally, Brian Gordy is a signature member of four watercolor societies, both state and national. His paintings often reflect Indiana rivers and woods, along with a portfolio of paintings and prints of native turtles.
Meet the Business Owner
Genny G.
Business Owner
Genny Gordy began her art career as a high school art teacher. Married to an artist, Brian Gordy, the pair worked in separate fields — art center director, corporate designer — until a local art supply/frame shop owner suggested they buy her business. 22 years and many tweaks later, the Gordy’s operate a serious custom framing business with an active art gallery. For artists, having a gallery within a frame shop was the perfect fit. At the time, Muncie, Indiana, had only one art gallery in its historic downtown retail center and Genny worked with other arts advocates to help foster the vital downtown Muncie art scene now in place. While Brian continues to excel in his own art career, Genny markets his, and 21 other local and regional artists with skills learned thru the Indiana Artisan program; a new statewide initiative that promotes, markets and mentors artists and artisans, including food and wine producers.
