Mukilteo Lighthouse & Gift Shop

This is a wonderful gem to find about half hour from Bellevue. My sister moved to Kirkland from East coast for work. It’s going to be more awesome exploring Washington now that she’s here. Going weekday in the morning has its advantages — opposite traffic, no lines, even the ferry is nice and pleasant. The lighthouse itself offers such beauty both its structure and its surroundings; yes it still works!!!
We were surprised how much cheaper ferry fare is compared to others (maybe cuz it’s only 20min ride). Drivers apparently like to stay in their cars because hardly anyone was in the sitting rooms or decks. we decided not to take the car into the ferry and rose as passengers. All the better for us with freedom to roam!

Came right during closing but we got to run up to the top and see the inside of the lighthouse. What a cool adventure. My daughter thought it was awesome.

I had stopped out to this lighthouse for its view. The city was clean and a good of the ocean. It wasn’t opened when we arrived there. However, it is a good area for fishing or going to a picnic. There is sufficient parking.

Got married here on 09 – 27. Don’t be even 10 seconds over your scheduled time. Other than that is was a-​ok. We had to go to a restaurant to sign our marriage certificate. They wouldn’t give us a minute to do that. Our minister was upset about their «rush» on us. Everything else was nice.

So many fun memories here!

we went to the beach to have a fire at sunset. like we used to a couple years ago. it turns out there are not longer any fire pits at the beach. instead of posting NO FIRES they had a sign at the location of each old pit saying «use fire pits only» the part they left out was there are NO FIRE PITS. the signs are BS i will have to drive down to golden gardens now

In continuing with my «lazy day» program, we went for a drive to the end of the road… Mukilteo. I am a huge fan of Lighthouses and decided «what tha’ heck». It was everything and more than we expected.
It was like walking back in time. We learned the history of the land as well as it’s keepers. Were educated on how the Coast Guard was stationed here and when they left. The land is owned by the city and it is beautiful. The ferry comes and goes in the near distance, the lawns are well manicured, property is clean, gift shop volunteers are friendly then there is the Lighthouse Keeper. This gentleman is 84yo and just as nice as can be. He had some of his own stories to tell which put a personal touch on the entire experience.
We really enjoyed our visit.

This is a great park with an incredible view! The ferry is right next to the park and Lighthouse. There is a boat launch, and plenty of parking. There are covered picnic spaces, a playground for the kids, fire pits on the beach, and benches.
This is a great place for a picnic, and bring fire wood to burn in the fire pits.

We were told how pretty this place was and that it was a nice place to take your dog for a stroll. The lighthouse is small but beautiful with Mt. Baker in the background! You may get a good picture as long the ferry isn’t blocking Mt. Baker. Dogs are allowed inside the fenced area (but must be leashed). They are not allowed inside the lighthouse.
Right next to the lighthouse is a rocky beach with a playground. Dogs must be leashed. We took a stroll on the rocky beach. My dog wanted to lick some rocks and spied a crab arm that I had to command (well– yell) «LEAVE IT!!!» You’ll need to wear good shoes and and balance to walk on the beach. It did have some nice views of the islands! Stop by if you are in the neighborhood :-) Bring a packed lunch to eat at the beach or a good book! There are some benches or logs to sit on!
