Horrible place. No wait I shouldn’t say that. If you have all the experience in the world yu can maybe get into a good job but if not they stick you at PHH mortgage. When you try to email and call they ignore you. Sorry I don’t care if you have higher education then me and this is your job you don’t treat me or anyone else looking for one like shit. Unclassy.

This place is a joke. I recently moved back to NJ, and in my employment search which included Craigslist, I applied for a job and received a call from Amy Rotella at Contemporary Staffing in Mt. Laurel. I took their skills tests online, and scored very high on all of them. I went in for my interview with Amy, and she made me wait 25 minutes before she could be bothered. Her first question… «how did you hear about us?» Really? You called me… duhhh. We went through my skills and what kind of job I was looking for. They only offered jobs in the lower pay range, which I turned down because I have excellent skills and references, and haven’t made that low of a salary for years. She promised to submit my resume for a job she had in mind, but then I never heard anything about it because she left for vacation and didn’t say anything. She left me hanging, literally. She refused to submit my resume for any positions that paid in my salary range because «I didn’t have the experience.» Again… REALLY? She finally got me an interview for an «accounting» job, which I clearly said I didn’t want to do, and then sent me to an address that had a different company name on it. She never followed up with me to see how the interview went or to give me any feedback. I called her several times, only to be ignored. I also emailed her, and was ignored at that attempt as well. This company and this staffing recruiter should be avoided. She is rude and condescending, and tries to make you feel like you are less than you are. Many times on their paperwork, they ask if you are under 40… not sure why, but that’s a red flag also.
At this point, I have been blessed with a good job with a phenomenal company, and I couldn’t be more pleased.
All I can say is, you don’t need this agency or any other to make you feel like you are less than you really are, and that’s what they try to do. They are in business to make money, and the less you need, the more they make. Their job is to get you at the cheapest rate possible. They have a billing rate to their clients, and your salary comes out of that. There are so many good jobs and good companies out there, so just keep at it… you will find the job you are looking for at the salary you are seeking.

A friend told me about this agency back in May. It helped to get him a decent step up from a call center job to a supervisor job. So, my friend passed along his experience to me and offered to hook me up with one of their reps. I sent him my resume, it was passed on, and surely enough, I got a call the next day from Amy R.
I talked with Amy R. for about 20 minutes, offering my skills, work/​education history, and goals to supplement my resume, and she had a purchasing agent position that looked pretty good. Rock on! Career advancement!
That’s the moment when everything goes wrong with the staffing agencies.
So, I followed up after about a week and couldn’t get a hold of the rep. Odd. Apparently, she went to go work offsite, and any details of the purchasing agent application disappeared without a trace. I understand that conflicts come up and deals fall through, but what annoyed me more is that my resume also vanished, and to hook up with another rep, they wanted me to go through the nuisance red tape of reapplying digitally.
Fortunately, I talked to my contact again, he indeed called B.S. on them losing my stuff and needing the red tape online application, and he then passed my resume to another rep.
The next day, Katey M. called me. We talked for a bit about my ambitions and assets (a repeat of the conversation with Amy R.), and she offered to pass my resume off to a colleague and set up an appointment to speak about some opportunities in person.
So, I came into their office in a few days to talk with the rep. Things were cordial. Again, I told her my skills, work/​education history, and ambitions. She then offered me my options: the same job I’m doing now at worse hours for less pay at one of three companies. Same mindless drudgery, different industry. I scratched my head, and – somewhat bemused – ask her as professionally as possible if that was all they considered me qualified to do. Her response was that that’s what was available that matches my pay level. (I pondered why the dollar amount my current employer paid was the only important factor in matching jobs, but I held my tongue here.)
With hopes of any prospects through this agency dashed, she then dropped 45 minutes of paperwork – the formal paper application – to fill out. Basically, «fill this out, and we might contact you with opportunities and offers.» Two months later and four months after the first conversation, nothing.
*Sigh* Another delightful experience with a temp agency… Don’t waste your time with them.
