The food is all above average: breakfast and sandwiches. They offer dinner too but I haven’t had that yet. Love sitting at a shady table outside. ABC Omelet is my current favorite

We stumbled upon this place while walking down Castro looking for a good breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised with the delicious quality food they served. Not fancy, just wonderful organic healthy food well prepared. A hidden gem. Lunch menu looks good too. Well worth a try!

Very inconspicuous. Tucked away in Ava’s Market. They have breakfast, sandwiches, salads, a to-​go section, and beer on tap. I’ve been coming in for months. Quality establishment, run by a quality person, Mr. Augustine.
It’s not about portion, it’s about quality ingredients and flavor. Talk to them, ask them about the food; they take the time and the effort to ensure that they focus food from clean and natural sourced vendors. How many eateries can say that? Not many in my experience and estimation.
If you value passion and quality, this is it. Its not flashy, but its worth it.

Seeing Crepevine crowded like no other, I decided to check out Omelette House inside Ava’s grocery store for breakfast. The breakfast menu is extensive with some pretty exciting options, so I got the almond joy pancakes (buttermilk batter with coconut, almond, and chocolate chips) with sausage links. The pancakes themselves were done well and tasted good, but the syrup was goopy and not flowing, making the pancakes difficult to eat and enjoy. It might have been because the syrup was heated? The sausage links were also dry and not flavorful. Overall, I think this place has the potential, but currently offers quantity over quality.

The sunny side eggs came out raw, asked them to give us a cooked sunny side so they took the plate to the back came out several minutes later with the same egg all broken up and still not fully cooked. Horrible service and food was so bland.

Found this place on Unilocal while looking for breakfast, I wanted an omelet so decided to try it. It’s a little confusing as its inside a grocery store. It’s basically a deli counter with some seating. Their menu is mostly sandwiches, there three breakfast items on the menu none were omelets. Ended up going somewhere else. Giving one star because the name implies they serve omelets.

These folks (Augustin, Alma, and crew) took over the «Deli» operation within Ava’s Downtown Market and Deli, around early 2015. (They’ve also run the butcher counter in recent months.) Despite the name «Omelette House,» this is a general short-​order restaurant and caterer, with an extensive fancy SANDWICH menu on the wall, and a compact steam table offering HOT LUNCH specials daily. More details on those, below. In late 2015, Omelette House also added traditional BREAKFAST dishes («served all day»), which I’ve now used 3 times — Belgian waffles recommended. An alternative to remember when Crepevine, down the block, has long lines.
But to me personally, this is mainly a lunch and sandwich place, I’ve used it for those at least 25 times, and I often check the day’s lunch offerings before considering other restaurants. And usually stay, am very satisfied, and got real value. Many meal experiences went into those five stars I gave here, it’s not a casual or fly-​by assessment.

Their past experience was in catering (still advertised on their business cards), and Augustin has high-​end restaurant-​kitchen experience. Which clearly shows — this guy knows his herbs, sauces, seasonings; he makes refined, creative sauces and condiments from scratch, used in the sandwiches. Gives tips on meat cookery when I buy from the butcher counter. Some of Augustin’s lunch specials have actually reminded me of the Michelin-​starred Chez T. J. a few blocks away.
Three classes of food are offered. First, a small covered steam table has good-​VALUE hot lunch («Hot Box») daily specials ($ 10 – 12). Typical might be a chicken breast stuffed with something savory (which will be cut into attractive slices on a plate and drizzled with a sauce) or grilled fish, all served with your choice of two side dishes (often roasted vegetables, mushrooms, saffron rice, etc.) Secondly, the vast and creative sandwich menu (many of them grilled, panini-​style, $ 8 – 9) is on the upper wall.
Omelette House certainly now has the most interesting sandwiches around downtown MV. I was a years-​long semi-​regular at Le Boulanger, a few blocks south, a respectable bakery/​deli/​café where sandwiches are a big part of the business. Boulanger now has strong competition, given the diverse flavorful sandwich menu at Omelette House. It also gets my business before other local places that have good but smaller sandwich menus, such as La Panotiq across the street. I’ve tried 7 – 8 of the 20 or 30 sandwiches on the big menu board, all superb. Additional styles are often offered as daily specials. Some specials came with good freshly-​made fresh-​cut French-​fried potatoes (always available as a side order).

Bad best service here — gave us really undercooked eggs, runny liquid all over the plate messed up our order multiple times and couldn’t figure out how to give us a refund. The omelette we ordered didn’t even include all the ingredients that were listed on the menu.

Hands down, the best sandwich place on castro.
I love crispy chicken and the market club.

Great local and informal place to have a sandwich or a quick lunch/​breakfast, nested inside ava’s market in downtown mountain view.
Their Cajun chicken sandwich is probably the best sandwich I had in the south bay in a while.
Prices are very reasonable, service is fast and the owners are super nice.

I went with A-​OK because although I’ve had better and meh is a word I would use for my own dish, there was some good feedback from my staff here! We catered via a 3^rd party vendor with the Omelette House @ Ava’s. My wrap was just ok, it may have been the hippity dippity spinach tortilla that wrapped it, or the overcooked bacon (which I understand from a restaurant)…but it was just mediocre. I think overall though, they have a great catering presentation. And the portions are GREAT for the pice paid. So I go with A-​OK!!!

Omelette House is hidden within Ava’s Downtown Market & Deli, and unless you go inside, it is quite easy to miss. I come here at least once a week, and grab a bite to eat before purchasing my groceries. I really enjoy the mashed potatoes, as well as the «Crispy Cajun Chicken» sandwich – my two «usuals’. The new owners (Alma and Agustin) are extremely friendly, and are always will to customize my order whenever I ask :)
