Nest Bedding

The salesperson I worked with was very nice and the environment non-​pushy. Everything was fine up until the point of sale, when they pretty much wouldn’t work with me on price at all, even though I was looking to purchase a pillow and mattress protector on top of a pretty pricey mattress. Kinda feeling shafted today. The most they would work on the price was to offer a $ 100 coupon that one could find already online. Really?
I’m glad to have mattress shopping done and a mattress on the way. But otherwise the pretty aloof process of not even being able to talk about price at all, for such an expensive purchase, leaves me feeling pretty non-​good overall.

I spent an embarrassing amount of time researching mattresses both online and at some of the retail stores (Mancini, Sleepworld, etc). I had 10 tabs opens at once: sleeplikethedead, bald old guy, mattress under-​ground, sleepopolis, etc, and all the reviews I could find. I spent (wasted?) more time trying to figure out which mattress to buy in the $ 700-​$ 1700 range than I did on which car to buy in the $ 10,000-$ 16,000 price range!
I created a spreadheet where I narrowed it down to the following mattresses:

I sort of quickly eliminated the Casper (likely too hard), the two Dreamfoams (the Ultimate Dreams is likely too soft, they charge $ 99 to return/​exchange, only 45 day trial period), and the BB (there were some negative reviews about difficulty returning their mattresses). So my short list was the Leesa and the 2 Nest Beddings. I liked the Leesa but decided to try the Nest Bedding first.
There’s a Nest Bedding store in Mountain View so I went there to test their mattresses. I worked with Jeff during my lunch break and decided (amazingly) on the medium firmness Love Mattress. My logic was that if I don’t like it I’ll exchange it for the Alexander. I liked both of them about the same even though there was a small difference in how they felt in the showroom (Alexander was perhaps a bit softer or I just sank in a bit more), but I figured that if we like the Love then we’ve saved $ 500. If not then we exchange for the Alexander. Either way was ok at this point. I also ordered their organic mattress protector and their steel platform frame for $ 199. Delivery was set for ~7 days and I was happy to be done!
Two days later I got a call from someone from Nest Bedding and he said they had my order in stock and a truck was going to be in my area (Santa Cruz Mtns) the next day so would I like to take delivery earlier? Yes.
The packaging for the steel platform frame and the mattress was not great. There were a couple of smallish holes in the cardboard and 2 flattened corners in the boxes. Lugged the boxes upstairs (King size), and set up the platform frame. A king platform is really 2 twin XL platforms and it was pretty simple to set them up. Then I opened the mattress box (careful not to cut the mattress cuz the plastic wrapping is thin and tight). No smell at all! The king mattress was not really that heavy and was not difficult to lift onto the platform.
First night was good. No smells. No sore spots. Good night’s sleep. It’s been 3 weeks now and the mattress basically feels the same as it did the first night. So it’s good so far!
I’m a 59 years old, 5’11″ male about 160 lbs and mostly a side sleeper. My wife is younger, lighter, and prettier — in case she reads this :). I’ve already paid full retail for the mattress, have no vested interest at all in Nest Bedding, have no coupon to offer, was never in the mattress business… but I sure spent a lot of time deciphering all of the stuff/​hype around mattresses so I hope this helps someone…

The poor store manager of this location. My fiancé and I visited him three times while shopping for mattresses (and suffering through our others from Tuft & Needle and Casper). Unlike other mattresses that are shipped in boxes, the ones at this store come in varying levels of firmness and/​or materials. This ended up being the key to finding a bed that doesn’t make our backs hurt. A soft ‘Love Bed’ is what we ended up with, and so far so good!
I’d highly recommend Nest Bedding in general, not just because Jeff is insanely patient and not-​pushy, but also because (1) their mattresses come in different firmnesses, (2) you can try the mattresses in store, (3) reasonable prices, and (4) [I think] most of the mattresses come with a 100 night risk-​free trial. You don’t really know a bed until you’ve slept on it for 30 days (at least), so this is incredibly key.
The mattress arrived in a 6′ tall 100 lb box about 1 – 1.5 weeks after we ordered in store. FedEx delivered, and it seems the minute they realized we lived on the second floor, they dropped the box randomly in the middle of our apartment complex leaving us to Where’s Waldo our own delivery (this did not happen with our other two mattresses’ deliveries). So, delivery could use a bit of work, but I doubt the store has much control over FedEx.

I stumbled on Nest after going on
and found out that Bed in a box was a top memory foam mattress.
This place is a small store with lots of mattresses to try. I’m so happy Nest is in the south bay and I didn’t have to drive all the way to SF or Albany to test out the sample mattresses. Plenty of parking as well.
Bela suggested mattresses to us and answered our questions. Completely easy going and no pressure. I initially was not excited to go mattress shopping, because I hate dealing with pushy and sleazy sales people. This was a breath of fresh air.
Although they no longer had samples of BedinaBox mattresses, I was happy to find the Honest Bed Cool Sleeper mattress instead. Ordering was easy and it was free delivery. Next time I might actually pay more for room delivery. We ordered a Cal King and it was delayed 2 days through Fedex delivery, I think because it would require 2 people to move it and luckily the Fedex driver was considerate and even though she was by herself, she took initiative to deliver it and was able to place it in my garage. The delivery experience could’ve been better, next time I wouldn’t mind paying more for an easier delivery experience.
Taking the mattress out of the box and unrolling it wasn’t too difficult. It was packaged and protected even though the box tore in some areas. It was just like the videos we saw online. After it was completely rolled out, flat, and best of all– NO CHEMICAL smell or off-​gassing. My friends warned me about memory foams having to flatten and off-​gas over several days, not this mattress.
I had been waking up daily with a neck and shoulder ache and thought it was my bad pillows, but after one night on this Honest Bed Cool Sleeper, I didn’t have that ache this morning and my pillows felt better. Maybe it was my old sinking mattress, after all…

If you are considering a Casper, Tuft and Needle or Love Bed there is only one right choice, and it is the Love Bed.

I came here with my girlfriend about 5 months ago. Jeff helped us out. We love the ambiance of the place, it felt very bright, cozy and semi rustic. I also loved that Jeff had the perfect combination of helpfulness and left us alone at times so that we can really relax. Other places like Mancini’s and sleep train have pushy sales people that are obviously paid on commission and it shows.
We ended up purchasing a bed frame, two twin xl mattresses — serenity outlast, and two memory shred filed pillows. My girlfriend returned her mattress a months later because it was too soft and nest bedding honored their 120 day guarantee and picked up the mattress. We returned back to the store the week after and purchased the Love Bed. It was priced low, but offered the perfect combination of firmness for her needs.
This place offers what I feel are the best products at a reasonable price and unbeatable staff. After coming here, we can’t go to any other mattress stores any more, we’re spoiled now.

We recently purchased the Q3 soft bedding from the Mountain View store. I waited a bit to give my review. Since we purchased this new bed, I have slept so well because, as a side sleeper, I am finally able to sleep on both sides again! We had a Beautyrest Black which we purchased only 5 years ago and back then we wanted the firmest mattress we could find… but with time and aging bones :(I developed bad shoulder problems… and most recently couldn’t get a full night’s sleep… I woke up with shoulder pain in my «good» shoulder and said «That’s it!» So I googled all morning and researched SO many beds and we found ourselves at Nest Bedding. Jeff, the manager, and his assistant are super knowledgeable and helpful and extremely accommodating. I cannot recommend their product quality and service level more… I will never go back to a traditional bed again. Sleep is great, I’m in a better mood, and even my husband’s stiff back has improved. Thank you, Nest Bedding! We actually feel like two little birdies in a nest at night.

Amazing place. Amazing manager. Competent, friendly, personal. Great offer of organic beddings. The virgin wool comforter with organic cotton is a must.

I am overjoyed with my Q3 Blended Latex Mattress. I tried several stores before I came back to Nest Bedding and made my purchase. For each mattress, they have two options: the all natural latex or blended latex. Essentially, the all-​natural latex is more eco-​friendly and natural, but it’s more expensive because they have to charge more in order to make it that way. The company hasn’t been around for that long, but they have free shipping and an excellent return policy. The mattress also has a 10 year warrantee.
Both times, Chris was great. He answered all of my questions, was not pushy at all, and followed-​up via email. I also received emails from Jeff letting me know the status of my order. The entire experience felt very personal, and I felt like my mattress was in good hands.
I was a little surprised when my mattress arrived because the layers came tightly rolled up in two tubes (is that good for the latex?!), but I wasn’t concerned. I’ve been sleeping on the mattress for only 4 nights, but I already notice a significant difference in my sleep. The Q3 is absolutely amazing-​I sleep so soundly and feel like my entire spine is supported. It’s so comfortable, and best of all, I know that I just made ¹⁄₃ of my life healthier by sleeping on a Nest Bedding mattress.

Went in and was attended by Chris. Chris was great!!! He took the time with me and was very knowledgable. I would definitely recommend Greg and a bed. I have slept very well on my mattress.

We’ve had great experience with Nest Bedding in Mountain View and keep returning there. They offer non-​toxic, sustainable materials at reasonable prices, and their customer service is excellent: informative and friendly, never pushy. We first purchased from Nest a BedInABox mattress, which we still enjoy after two years. Back then, it was Brian who assisted us, and he was very helpful and knowledgable. Next we bought a bed frame from Jeff – a nice, solid platform bed that we’ve been very happy with. We just returned for the third time to get another platform bed, and once again it was a pleasure working with Jeff. Their delivery service, too, has always been great. I highly recommend Nest!

I bought a cal-​king eco-​bamboo memory foam bed @4 years ago at a home show. Since then, the bed has gone south… literally.
My back has been hurting from the impression that has formed in the mattress. I have difficulty even rolling over because there is a ridge in the middle where apparently the foam is still firm. Oh, should I mention that for the past four years it seems like I have been getting headaches every morning. The off-​gassing never quite went away.
Was I to spent the next 5 – 10 years feeling like a bout with Tyson upon waking in the morning? I think not.
So, I checked Unilocal,and Sleep Like the Dead and The Mattress Underground for good reviews. I came upon Nest. In Albany, CA. A mere 3 hours away. I had an upcoming trip that timed out to make the additional hour journey to Nest Bedding
Mike spent 1+ hours with me discussing the different mattresses.
I chose a Q3 blended latex with a soft topper. And 2 side sleeper pillows. They arrived first and the order was wrong. Only one came and it was a back sleeper king. The owner, Joe, himself responded to my email. And so fast… I barely hit the send button before there was a response. «Keep the pillow –the shipper mixed it up but we will make it right.» Wow… customer service.
No haggling. Remember what that was like?
The bed arrived. We put it together. It actually smelled good… like a spice — like nutmeg or something. I have had my first night’s sleep and my back is already feeling better.
I have just one complaint. What… no Central Valley store?!
Final thought: I hope that as Nest gets bigger because you know it will that they will continue such stellar customer service.

So our search for a comfortable memory foam mattress led us here… we worked with Chris. He was great, not pushy at all, let us take our time, and helped us find a mattress that was the right fit for our comfort level and our budget. I also love that the mattresses have safety certifications for all the materials used; this was of HUGE importance to us!
We were stuck between a couple mattresses, and Chris knew just when to leave us alone so we could take our time to try them out without any hovering. :)
The mattresses are very reasonably priced and competitive. We had to follow up with Chris with some questions on e-​mail and he was fast (responded within an hour), friendly, and efficient even though our sale had already been confirmed (sometimes this is when you never hear from people again!)

12/​30/​2014: We just ordered a ‘Bedinabox’ mattress — Tranquility with mattress protector. I will update the review for mattress delivery and then later for usage.
Customer Service: Jeff helped us during the purchase process and I can say he was very honest and did not push us to buy the mattress. He answered all our questions and provided enough details while he was helping two other customers.
We also visited Mancini and Sleep train: They answered our questions as well but they are pushy. I mean to the point that you don’t have any more excuses. They definitely need to change that attitude. Their mattresses were good or may be even better for some but at least twice expensive. On top of that they said that we will work with you to get the best price — that kind of approach always makes me think that I could have negotiated more for the price. I guess I liked Nest bedding even more because of these retailers.
Mattress: Nest Bedding does not have a huge collection but it kinda worked for us. No coil mattress so its all foam or latex. You get to focus on the most popular ones. We thought that they are in a way better than tempurpedic. BedInaBox is not a popular brand. I got to know about it from
. I don’t trust random websites for reviews but when I found Nest Bedding Unilocal reviewers talking about BedInaBox, it encouraged me more. Nest Bedding is the only place where we can try them and I am glad they are the ones picked by bedInabox. Such casual approach while being professional, we loved it.

Had a great experience here at nest bedding. Jeffrey was very patient with me and I never felt pressured into anything which is great. They have a good amount of selections for all sleep types and finance options as well. Overall, I’m very happy with the bed I chose and even recommended this place to my friends. Had a horrible experience at Mattress Discounters with a mattress that smelled like a gas station, so I decided to try a healthier store. Went to three (insanely expensive) stores before coming to Nest.
NEST WAS EXCELLENT! I was helped by a guy named Jeff Abell, who was marvelous. No pressure whatsoever, just plain helpful. I ended up buying a Gemma memory foam mattress from Jeff and I couldn’t be happier. The mattress was also somehow $ 1000 cheaper than a comparable Tempurpedic, made with 60% natural material too and almost no smell when I unwrapped it.
Don’t bother with other stores, just go straight here. Trust me the rest are run by crooks or will charge you a fortune.

My wife and I went to Nest to look at the Wesley Allen bed frames and with many questions. Aaron helped us every step of the way with professional service and straightforward answers. He even took the time to call the store manager to help clarify some confusion with the catalog. After we ordered the bed frame we stayed and asked even more questions about all things bedding related and Aaron patiently answered every question.
We will return to Nest for all of our future bedding needs.

We found the Nest Bedding store on the
store locator and I am very happy we did. The store is very small and doesn’t have a huge selection but the mattresses they do have are of fantastic quality.
We came in a couple of hours before they closed and was assisted by Aaron who was not only patient with our questions but really seemed interested in finding the best option for us specifically. We had previously purchased a mattress at a large mattress store chain and had a horrible experience not only with the pushy salesperson approach but also with the low quality mattress we purchased so it was refreshing to be helped by a non-​pushy knowledgeable salesperson like Aaron (keep it up man!).
We didn’t purchase anything other than a new mattress but their pillows were amazing and planning on heading back to get a couple of those. They also carried a bunch of other organic blankets, pillows, and mattress covers.
Overall, our experience was fantastic, the customer support was great, and the store itself, although small, is clean and inviting. The only thing that I thought would be great that was missing was having the mattresses in stock (it’s a 5 – 6 day shipping/​delivery time frame). Even then, it’s not a long wait for the perfect mattress!

I had a great experience at this store. We first came in I think in August on a Sunday, turned out that the store had just opened. We were buying a new mattress for our daughter, and since she often slept with one of us, we decided it had to be something we liked as well. Brian helped us, we had indicated at the time that we weren’t in a rush and were reviewing lots of different types of mattresses. Brian was helpful in answering our questions, and helping us understand more about the mattress and encouraged us to try the different models
It took more than two months before we finally came back, and purchased the mattress. I felt very comfortable dealing with Brian, and appreciated the time he took to answer our questions. Our expectations were that the mattress would be one we use for years, and the mattress has worked out well so far.
My expectations with Brian was really exceeded when he helped me out on a last minute divert of the mattress delivery for a week since I couldn’t reach the delivery company. I had to be out of town, and couldn’t reach the delivery company, and tried Brian instead, and he communicated that info to the delivery company. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the service and the mattress thus far, and would recommend any friends of mine to talk to Brian if they were in the market for a new mattress.
