Mountain View Smog Test Only Center-Star Station

Great service. No line on a weekday morning and I was served quickly and politely. I will use this test station again.

We’ve been coming to this shop for many years, maybe fifteen or more, with a variety of vehicles. The operation is friendly, quick, and efficient.
Over that time, I have had a few occasions where I needed smog certification on cars that had had work done on them recently, and the battery had been disconnected. This resets all the stored information about the engine’s performance and sensor readings, which is necessary to complete a proper smog test. Mr. Chahbour provided knowledgeable advice about the various kinds of cold starts and driving cycles I needed to put the vehicle through in order to accumulate sufficient data for a complete test. Using this information, I was always able to get the certification completed in four or five days (even though the reset had occurred as much as a month before).
He also calls my attention to readings that indicate the engine might require some service in order to pass the next time it is tested. We always go ahead and have our regular mechanic do the recommended work, and when the next test rolls around two years later, (knock on wood) the car always passes.
Great shop — I hope they’re there for as long as I’m still driving.

Having to do anything car related is by far my least favorite chore, I am so glad that I stumbled upon Mountain View Smog — they made this task a pleasure. I pulled right up and started my smog, no wait at all. The waiting area/​restroom is by far the cleanest that I have experienced at a mechanic. The wait was brief but very pleasant. My car passed and I was on my way, couldn’t have been easier. Thank you MV Smog!

Came in Saturday morning with no appointment. Parking behind the building is easy. Left with a passing score roughly 15 minutes later.
The clerk was polite and quiet.
Will come again year after next if I’m still in this area.

Fast and efficient. My test was completed in less than 15 mins, and they had the paperwork ready. Big plus for being transparent with their pricing (unlike the other smog place in downtown mountain view) and nice with the coupon.

I’ve gone here a few times and it was always an OK experience. Unfortunately for me, I have older cars so I guess that’s why I always have to go to the STAR stations.
Quiet no nonsense guy but he will talk cars with you if you bring it up. As in performance cars… then again who wants to talk about cars you see in an airport rental fleet…
Does a decent job and will give you some suggestions on how to correct any problems you have… he did this for me and I fixed a couple small things (like a broken PCV valve, $ 2 for my car) and I passed the test after taking care of it.
Unfortunately he has to run the entire test again even if it passed aside from a small repair. Those are the rules though I gues.

After trying to get my car smog-​tested at three other shops, I was lucky to find this one. Mr Chahbour was honest about the amount of time it would take, and he showed me the one broken part that made my car fail the test. I was able to get it repaired at my mechanic’s and then retested and passed the same day.
I will always go here for my smog tests in future.

Fast, efficient, friendly and up-​front competitive pricing. They automatically transmit your smog report to the DMV. I was in and out in under 15 minutes, even with a guy ahead of me. I liked the location right off El Camino Real. Convenient and close to downtown Mountain View but also on a quiet enough street that finding the service station was not stressful.

Got there at 7:55am, was back in my car driving away at 8:10am.

Really happy I chose to go to Mountain View Smog Test Center. Was concerned that my old minivan wouldn’t pass, especially when they did their thorough inspection. But on the free re-​test (with a charged battery), the car passed. Mohamad even gave me some tips on how to make sure my car was running well. And the price was better than several other local shops I called. I would not hesitate to recommend using Mountain View Smog Test for anyone’s car, and in fact I’ll make sure I take my other cars here, too!

The DMV gave me the usual once every other year STOP your car needs a Test Only Center SMOG check.
After my previous encounter with Mohamad’s side kick, I knew he did not show up on time. So to make sure I got Mohamad to conduct the complete SMOG check on my old Subaru I got there before he opened to get not only first in line, but to make sure Mohamad did the complete SMOG check.
My plan worked beautifully as Mohamad cruised up in this BMW and I was right there sipping my Philtz coffee waiting for him.
Being an all wheel drive there was no messing the dyno, just check the smog equipment, and the all important gas cap, then rev it to the prescribed RPM and it was all over within ten minutes!
We both had a chuckle what Cal DVM classifies as a ‘gross polluter’ vehicle as being a car guy the exhaust emissions barely registered anything.
I always recommend Mohamad to anyone getting a SMOG certificate for their registration as he is a car guy and runs a a clean shop.
I am also glad I did not see his side kick this time as well.

There was one car already being tested when I arrived, but I was still in and out in about 15 mins for about $ 50. There is ample parking around the side of the building so you don’t need to worry about street parking if you can’t parallel park.
This was a really pain-​free experience and I’m definitely going to come here again.

I didn’t have to wait at all. The man doing the smog test was friendly, smiled a lot, efficient, quick and helpful. He walked me thought the process of paying online for the renewed DMV registration and I was in and out of the shop faster than I thought.
Overall I would recommend this place to all my friends. I will definitely come back next time I need to get my registration smog check. Wonderful service!
