Specialties

Conservatory for Contemporary Dance Arts (CCDA) is a training program for dancers 14 – 24. It prepares serious young dancers for university dance program, advanced conservatory experience and professional dance experience. The world class faculty lead by Mark Foehringer trains these young dancers in the latest modern dance trends, contemporary dance and jazz dance influences as well as world dance, choreography and movement awareness. It provides one on one mentoring for each of its dancers.

CCDA has 3 artists in residence each year and 13 guest artists fill the teacher roster with new concepts and the dance traditions past down from generations before them.

The dancers perform in works some of the nations most sought after choreographers as well as work by modern masters such as Jose Limón and Merce Cunningham and the residence artists and faculty.

CCDA specializes in developing each dancer for his or her next step in their dance plans.

Summer 2013 classes will be at San Jose State.

History

Established in 2013.

Conservatory for Contemporary Dance Arts was created in February of 2013 and was developed by artistic director Mark Foehringer with the students and faculty of TDC which closed its doors in January 2013. Foehringer had been training these dancers since 2006. CCDA has been broaden out to include more in depth training and performance experience. His faculty is made of world class teachers, advisors and dance educators.

Choregraphy assistant and modern dance teacher Brian Fisher is a former Broadway dancers and former dancer of San Francisco based ODC Dance SF. Heather Cooper is a associate faculty at San Jose State University and former dancer of New York City based Jeniffer Muller Works.

This faculty has trained dancers who have gone on to television careers, professional companies such as: Lar Lubovitch, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Lines Ballet, Smuin Ballet, Batsheva Dance Company, Royal Swedish Ballet, Gotheburg Ballet and several San Francisco companies.

In the past 38 years in the dance industry, Mark Foehringer has created a dance organization, directed two pre professional dance programs and made works for dance companies and dance programs, directed operas and developed collaborative projects with musicians and other artists. He is a producer, presenter, director, teacher, choreographer and mentor. Mark Foehringer is an internationally active choreographer and dance educator who has directed his San Francisco based contemporary dance organization, Mark Foehringer Dance Project|SF (MFDP|SF), since 1996. The Company employs some of San Francisco’s finest dancers. Foehringer choreographed and taught throughout the US and abroad, working with organizations that include: Rambert School of Contemporary Dance in London, Ballet Nacional del Peru, Ballet San Marcos of Lima and Cisne Negro Dance Company. Outside of Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area, Foehringer’s company has been seen in Aruba, Peru, London, Brazil and NYC.
