I have been in the legal information and legal tech fields for 30+ years. I can say without hesitation that Justia has the most responsive, visionary, and technically savvy team in the legal community. Though I rarely have issues with Justia support, on the few occasions when I have contacted the group, the answers and solutions were immediate and comprehensive. And while I think I know something about CMS, I continue to be impressed by the advanced knowledge and implementation skills of the Justia tech team. I have been writing books (many for the American Bar Association) and giving seminars to lawyers about Internet legal research full-​time since 1999. One of my favorite sites is Justia because it meets my «quality» test by (1) having a practice area directory and a jurisdictional (and document type) directory, (2) offering a keyword search box, (3) being user-​friendly (intuitive) by providing an easy-​to-​read and easy-​to-​navigate home page, (4) linking directly to many relevant sites that appear as you start clicking on the practice area or jurisdiction links, and (5) offering «added value.» Some examples of added value are Justia’s Supreme Court Center, a searchable database of all U.S. Supreme Court decisions since the 1790s; links to Recall Warnings, the Stanford Copyright and Fair Use Center; and Free Law Firm Web Sites. Also of note on the home page is the recent addition of Latin American legal research resources. Unfortunately, as it continues to redesign its site, Justia has made it less easy to access some of its other «added value» resources by hiding them behind the «more» drop-​down menu at the top of the home (e.g., Justia’s Federal Dockets database). Stacy Stern and Tim Stanley, leaders of the Justia team, are well-​known in the Internet legal research field and were the co-​founders of FindLaw.

I originally «designed» our web site in 1999. Finally, after a decade, when it was (well past) time to seek professional help, we chose Justia to redesign the site, implement a content management system (CMS), and generally bring it into the 21^st century. We chose Justia based on the company’s history and reputation in the legal community.
The Justia team presented us with a number of design concepts to better-​present the b-​to-​c and b-​to-​b content on our site. Once we settled on a new design/​layout, they automated the process of importing the more than 700 existing pages of our site, bringing all the existing pages into the Drupal content management system, while still preserving the internal and external linking structures and navigation between pages in the new site. They also set up auto re-​directs for all of the pages on our previous site, so that all of the existing external links to our site would continue to point to the corresponding page (s) on the new site. They were also careful to structure the redirects so they would not negatively effect our Google rankings.
Before the site went live, Justia provided detailed instructions, and walked me through the process we would have to go through to create different content for our site going forward. They made the transition process from our old ftp site to the new Drupal CMS platform as painless as possible.
Since the new site has been live, we have had a number of questions for the Justia team about a variety of issues, including: creating certain types of pages, adding features or functions to the site, and changes to the site — all of which they were able to find solutions for.
After going through this process with Justia and working with them on our site for some time, I would recommend them to any legal professional looking to launch or redevelop their web site.
