Holiday Inn Express Mountain View-S Palo Alto

I have stayed at so many Holiday Inns around the country and this was near the top of the list.
The outside of the hotel is clean. Parking is limited but not horrible.
The inside of the hotel is very clean. Smells great.
The staff was very inviting and helpful.
The drinks /​snacks were very expensive in the lobby and the bed was a little hard. My only two concerns.
Room was clean, everything worked, had fridge and microwave. House keeping did an excellent job and left us an extra pillow and towels as requested.
I would stay here again and recommend to everyone.

Stayed here a few nights in November 2014. The room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. There’s a small exercise room off the lobby with free weights and other equipment. The elliptical was a little wobbly, so switched to the tread mill. These are not top of the line gym equipment.
It’s within walking distance of some eateries and a short drive from others, Trader Joes, strip malls with supermarkets, etc. There were a few issues, but it was only for two or three nights, so I managed. Still, now that I will be returning to the area, I’m looking for a different hotel.
1. I was in a room not only overlooking El Camino Real, but the huge blue neon light on the hotel’s sign. Luckily, the black out curtains kept the annoying blue glow to a minimum and there wasn’t much street noise.
2. Parking is free, or rather included in the cost, but not always available. The stalls are tight and some inconsiderate «guests» take up more than one space. Management does nothing about that. Guess that’s how it’s done in Cali. If you get back late at night, you’re likely to find no parking spaces in the hotel lot. Instead, you’re directed to the lot of another business next door. Since I was leaving the next morning and did not want to risk getting towed, parked on the street, but did not feel comfortable about that, either. Be sure there’s no rush hour tow-​away signs posted if you park on the street.
3. There is a free breakfast and I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before, which is why I tried this one. Found the breakfasts at both inns to be marginal. It’s nice to have free food and drink, but the eggs didn’t seem real and the pancakes and waffles were spongy, like they had all been made the night before. Think of airline food, before they stopped serving food in Coach.
4. At checkout, I was surprised by the bill. I know it’s Silicone Valley with lots of business visitors but had forgotten how hotels jack up the prices for weekday nights because of expense accounts, the law of supply and demand, and what the market will bear. Made the mistake of staying one weeknight without realizing the price was way more than I had paid for the weekend nights. At first, thought I had been snookered, but when I was finally able to find and check the reservation printout, the price increase was in there, just hadn’t noticed it. But be aware of the different rates.
If I can’t find a better place in the area or closer to SFO airport, may book two nights here, again, but still looking. Stayed at a surprisingly nice Best Western a short distance north of this inn, but that was 30+ years ago. It’s still there but wonder if it’s still as nice.

Nice clean hotel. I travel and stay in a lot of places and this was by far one of the nicest places to stay. JENNIFER is the best. She took care of everything and even helped open my bottle of wine for me. I will definitely be back.

This review is to let everyone know that this hotel is very clean, nice beds and the staff is extra attentive. It is well located and easy to park. A short time ago my 86 year old Uncle came for the family reunion for a 10 day stay. What I did not know was that he could not raise his leg over the edge of a bath tub. So we asked if he could be moved to a handicap room. There is one handicapped room in the hotel and it was already booked. In fact the hotel was full. The Assistant General Manager had to call the other guest and find out if they needed the handicapped room. They did not so the hotel made arrangements to move the current guest from the handicapped room, clean it and move all of my Uncle’s belongings into the handicapped room. We were in San Francisco for the day. The assistant manager then called the two other guests who had booked the room during the 10 days my Uncle needed it, and found out they would not need it either so my Uncle could stay the entire 10 days. When I offered a tip for the extra work she declined it and said they were very happy to help my Uncle. I just want to say. My Uncle had a great stay was very comfortable, and enjoyed his visit very much.

I booked a room for my 20 year old son to stay here since he was driving home to Napa from UCLA for the weekend and I called the hotel to let them know he would be checking in under my name and credit card. Since he had a long drive and I wanted him to get some rest be for he got home, I was told by the GM that he could not because he had to be 21. 21 BUT WHY? It’s not like I was sending him to a bar that he had to be 21!!! So I went ahead and canceled my reservation way in advance even had a cancelation number but they still took it upon there selves to charge my credit card for a no show reservation. I called and left a message with the front desk told her the situation and asked her to leave a message for the GM. I never got a call back so I had to call again. I finally got the GM told her about the charge and she spoke to me like I was a third person questioning the situation! She was rude and not helping the situation at all. After all the phone calls and having to justify myself because she spoke to me as if I was not telling the truth about the charges it finally took her a week to refund me my money! I stay at the Holiday Inn more then often but believe me I WILL NEVER STAY AT THE Holiday Inn in Mountain View –Worst ever

Excellent staff on duty! Every employee worked extra hard to make sure we are satisfied. The hotel seems brand new and I’m a little confused with some of the other posts. Our room was spotless and the beds super comfortable! Must have just finished a major upgrade with hotel and staff as this was one of my best stays at HIE. Even though the breakfast was mediocre, pre made stuff, I still managed to find something to eat and was impressed with the courtesy and integrity of the staff. I would definitely stay here again!

Overall a pretty disappointing experience — given the cost of the hotel and it seemed ok in the pictures on our company travel website. I know Silicon valley is expensive but this was Comfort Inn was mediocre.

bad: musty old smell in hallways, shower curtain wouldn’t stay in place, HVAC unit was extremely noisy, noise from El Camino road
The worst part was the front desk calling my room one night at 230AM and telling me that a neighbor had made a noise complaint and I needed to keep it down. Needless to say, I wasn’t pleased about being woken up and then falsely accused of making too much noise, absolutely UNACCEPTABLE.

For the price in the area, this motel is one of the cheapest one. But this motel can be the best one in the area. Only 2 blocks away from downtown Mountain View. Very clean and the staffs are very courteous and professional.

So… This place was, as others have written, fine.
It was very clean. The folks who cleaned the rooms really did a good job every day (I came back early from a meeting one day so witnessed this and was impressed). The room was relatively quiet, although sound does travel between rooms a bit. I thought that the breakfast was really disappointing and didn’t take advantage of it. The coffee was fine, although one carafe at a time so always seemed to juuuust be running out. The front desk staff were super helpful and nice. For the price and location it was a good deal. But for a few dollars more you can stay in a nicer hotel closer to the airport if that’s your intention — which it was for me.

Fair. No real amenities. The rooms were clean enough. Staff was fair, everything was just OK. Whatever cleaning product or air freshener they used in the morning, smelled like a combo between a sweaty man and Old Spice. Not pleasant.

After my last trip to Mountain View, I was hoping the hotel I picked for this trip would be much nicer than the one I stayed at last time.

The Gentleman at the main desk (A fellow Brit) was very warming and accommodating to my questions while I was there, refreshing to have friendly staff in a hotel where most these days are all grouchy, this guy stood out big time! (Note to self, send email to their head office praising this guy.)
Room itself was very clean and well maintained, bathroom did stink a little bit but nothing that an hour of leaving the extractor fan on couldn’t fix. Wifi was alright too, a little slow but considering it was free, I have no complaints.
Loved having waffles for breakfast! And there were vending machines on all floors incase I got peckish at night (Aside from the fact there are a lot of restaurants nearby too!)
The location of this hotel is very convenient to get the most out of visiting Mountain View.
Very high praise for this hotel, I WILL be booking with these guys for my next trip back to Mountain View. The price, friendly staff and facilities ensured my satisfaction on this trip!

I needed a place to hole up for the day to bury my head in work, and get a good uninterrupted nap in. Saw this place on our company hotel website for about $ 80, which is great for SV. I don’t normally choose this chain, because I haven’t found them very sanitary in the past, but the site said it was newly rennovated and when I called the front desk, they were able to accommodate me for the day for the same price, saying I could even stay through the night if I needed. They were able to honor the same price even though I was going to them directly versus our company website.
I was pleasantly surprised to have no trouble with the parking off El Camino (covered parking lot), quiet, clean, and friendly service. I do agree with another reviewer with regard to getting into your business VPN/​sites — I got WiFi easily enough but for the life of me could not VPN onto my worksite no matter what I did (luckily I had plenty of work that didn’t require VPN and my email on my cell phone) so that was a bummer. There was also a mini-​fridge that emanated some constant pinging sounds that got kind of annoying. But for the price, service, and cleanliness I experienced, I’d use the place again.
And yes, I got work done and a good nap.

As a hotel this place was OK, what you would expect for the price.
HOWEVER in Silicon Valley in 2012, I expect a certain level of network connectedness, and this hotel did not deliver.
There is free wifi yes, BUT the login model is something from the late 90s and has clearly never been tested against 21^st century equipment. The login model does not have you login to the WiFi network — that would actually function usefully and well. No, the login model requires you to go to a separate web page and enter a userID and password. You might not think that sounds to bad, but you are required to do this EVERY time you login. OK, still not to bad you say. Let me ask you: do you carry a smartphone or an iPad? Because EVERY TIME your phone or tablet go to sleep, when they wake up you will have to log in again. It soon grows old having to do this thirty times a day, especially since, as I have already noted, far better technological alternatives are available.
To top it all, for a period of around 6 hrs during our two day stay, the authentication system appeared broken, and attempts to connect simply did not work, resulting in a hung web page but no progress towards the «you are now logged in» page.

Free breakfast, covered parking, and great service… we use this hotel for corporate housing, and is always good.
Tip: forget Expedia and hotwire they take a big cut from the hotel owners, just call them for the best price!

For $ 70+ dollars the hotel is perfect — free breakfast, free internet, comfortable room — great customer service — it’s perfect for the price.

This place was TERRIBLE. I called in advance to specifically ask if the hottub is operational and how late we could use it. I am assured that it is functioning and that we could use it past the 9pm (???) close time. We get there and the tub is freezing. Then I’m told it was on a timer and it was turned off at 7pm. The hottub was the entire purpose of my visit. There goes that idea… The next morning we go check it out and it’s hot so we grab our suits and jump in to realize that there is black mold all over the tile grouts, tiles missing and the water smells funky and has a yellow tint. The shower looked good after that…
The nicest thing about the rooms are the beds but even then, the sheets are terribly scratchy and of a cheap quality. The room itself was certainly not up to standards for the Comfort Inn chain. The smell of wetness (carpet??) was overwhelming and rather than suffocate, we opened the windows and got to listen to traffic all night.
Complaints were made to management but I was told BY THE MANAGER that he would have to take it to the GM… failing to tell me that he IS the GM.
Complaint unsatisfied.
Letter being issued to corporate offices.
Avoid this slum at all cost.

All the hotels/​motels in this area are overpriced. Probably better off going a couple miles west to Menlo Park or east to Mountain View. Anyway, on the plus side, the room was clean and beds were pretty comfortable. They also have a decent breakfast selection, including a Belgian waffle maker so you can make your own fresh waffles. On the negative side, aside from the price, the air conditioning unit was extremely noisy and woke us up during the night several times; moreover, the fan in the bathroom was also very noisy and made a thumping noise. The towels are very rough feeling. Probably won’t stay here again.

No too bad considering I was staying by myself on this busy street. I mean it was just me the pool full of leaves which was covered by the way and a bottle of Pinot Noir. I made it work. Complimentary breakfast was nice, the waffle maker memorable… too bad I don’t like waffles.
