Went in at 10:30. Waited close to 10 min for service and finally just left. They are understaffed since they changed hands.

I LOVE this bakery. The white bread loaf and cinnamon bread are terrific. The texture is soft and flavorful. It reminds me of the tasty baked goods I had while visiting Japan. Also love the cheese danish, fruit tarts and muffins. Nothing is overly sweet. For lunch I enjoyed a really great hot mozzarella and roasted eggplant. The customer service is terrific and place is clean. Cakes are tasty as well, particularly the strawberry shortcake and ganache.

The food is consistently very good here. The turkey, avocado, and Swiss sandwich I got today was delicious, and the sliced whole wheat bread was very fresh. However, I was disappointed that they don’t offer espresso drinks anymore, just drip coffee. Hopefully the espresso will return sometime soon.

This is my usual post-run coffee place, because it is close to Stevens Creek Trail. I have tried anpan(sweet beans past inside bread), apple pie, and éclair. Pastries are Japanese quality, I love all of them. Today, while my running friends and I were chatting at a large table, the worker gave us bread(sliced bread with nuts, shokupan(kurumi inside) in Japanese). It was on the house! I ate a few slices of them. So definitely 5 stars!

I bought a Strawberry Tart for my friend here on Saturday. There are plenty parking, the place is clean and my friend loved the Strawberry Tart.

Excellent hot sandwiches, no wait in line. I stopped by for lunch since I get my allergy shots nearby. I planned to go to another sandwich place but that place had a 30-person line. The sandwich was good enough that I was planning to take the sandwich to go, but ended up eating the entire thing there.

This place has come under new management recently and I think it’s a positive change! The menu is still the same, and they still serve the very delicious hot roasted eggplant and mozzarella sandwich, but there is a greater selection of pastries(now the display case is only half empty when I go there, instead of completely empty as it was previously!). The new staff are nice and they now also give you a little piece of lemon cake with your sandwich — how cute and fabulous :).

If I could give this store a lower rating I would. Some of the people that work there are wonderful and the Grain D’Or BLT can’t be beaten, but the owner has made mistakes on my custom cake order on two separate occasions. I spoke with her directly yesterday to order a ¼ sheet chocolate ganache cake. This is a custom order you have to make ahead of time. Today when we go to pick it up, we were given a cappuccino cake. I was clear on ordering a ganache cake since my daughter only eats this one type of cake and I go there specifically to get it every year. On the prior occasion I ordered the same custom cake for an event and when we went to pick it up, they had no cake for me. They«forgot» to put the order in to the bakery and you are only left with the meagre sample in the case as an alternative. The problem with this store is the owner. I have shopped there for my breads on a weekly basis for 3 years. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere from now on.

…if you like one server rubbing her nose as she walks the length of the service area back into the kitchen, and another working her nose over hard w a Kleenex as you walk in before giving her hands a quick rinse w the dish sink spray nozzle and then serving you bread. If you’re into all that, by all means stop by!

Let me tell you fam. If you’re lookin for a dank sandwich and a fire place to chill at… Say no more fam. This place is the mad notes, the American club had me feeling so patriotic I decided to go and talk to my local marine recruiter. Colorado needs more places like this — Michael Unilocal

Incredible deal on white bread, 2 types white bread loaf and english white bread. $ 3.50/loaf. High foot traffic on Sat mornings when people get off work to come and buy loafs of sliced white bread. They always sell out; have to get there before noon. $ 3.50; is cheaper than the supermarket and has no chemicals. English white bread has no butter. Can’t find it anywhere. Very soft. Good for jam and sandwiches. Should try this once in your life. Much better than any store bought commercial bread. Hidden secret.

Not bad little sandwich spot. The staff is friendly and for a quick bite to eat or for some pastries it definitely hits the spot. Try the spicy turkey!

Croissants should taste buttery with a fresh springy inside and a flaky/crunchy outside. This one tasted like nothing and was dry throughout. I think I may throw it away instead of forcing anyone to eat it. Next I tried some fig & pecan bread, but the bread again tasted like nothing. The fig pieces tasted like fig and the pecan like pecan, but the bread itself has no flavor. Finally I tried an oatmeal cookie, and again was disappointed by the lack of flavor and vaguely cake-like texture, though it did taste slightly of walnut. Good bread is addictive and the smell alone will draw me like a bloodhound on a trail. Mediocre bread is a welcome vehicle for other foods. Tasteless bread isn’t worth eating. Try the Acme Bread Company at the Mountain View Farmer’s Market to see what good bread is supposed to taste like.

That creamy french bread is disturbingly delicious. A co-worker brought it into the office. Hope to try other stuff soon.

Located in an average strip mall, Grain D’or is surprisingly nice. With various breads lined up against the back wall and an impressive display of pastries in the front, it’s the type of cozy local bakery that gives off the feel that everything is made in-house, though I cannot confirm this(they are owned by Andersen Bakery, so at least it’s better than the Starbucks/Peet’s baked goods that are imported from a galaxy far, far away). Essentially it’s like a mini Panera that’s much less chain-like. Indeed, it is clever of them to adopt a name that’s different and sounds like a small business. My all-time favorite has been the eggplant panini, which I ordered the first time I came here because I was in a vegetarian phase, and I kept coming back and ordering the same thing. The cheesy melt, grilled eggplant, and wheat bread all come together into an amazing and filling sandwich that I could have lived off of had I really become vegetarian. It comes with a pickle slice that looks quite out-of-place sitting by itself on the plate next to the towering sandwich. The interior is roomy, clean, and in general exudes a very relaxing ambiance. As the first café I discovered, I used to love this place before I became an excessively picky foodie, but I have plans to come back.

I absolutely love the service here. Though it may not look like much from the outside, you really need to come inside to appreciate its true value. It has a warm feel or ambiance inside because the workers are never disgruntled even though I’ve only seen 2 workers working at a time. Plus their version of the creamy french actually does compare to andersens. I also bought one of their delightful little cakes for a surprise party of about 5 people and it was delicious. Their mocha is ok. I have yet to try the other breads made here

I wanted to give this place more stars but their breakfast and pastries selection was sparse. They have more sandwich options for lunch, but nothing that pops out to try especially when this place is competing right next door to the Sandwich Spot. What I do like about this place is they serve organic drip coffee, and the fact that they hang local artwork for sale along their walls. It makes a chain feel more local and a part of the community. I really wish they had a bigger pastry selection because my husband and I need more dessert places in our area other than Safeway, Sugar Flour Butter, and Paris Baguette.

TIME&PLACE: Friday lunch time Great Unilocal reviews convinced me to stop by, but friends who lived nearby warned me that they were underwhelmed. FOOD Figured I could judge any bakery by its baguette, so picked up a baguette for $ 2.35 and… was disappointed. Tasted not quite fresh… not quite stale, but definitely not fresh. The $ 1 baguettes from Lee’s sandwiches definitely outshines them by leaps and bounds. Maybe I would suggest trying some of the desserts since it sounds like other folks have better luck with those. LOGISTICS *Located right next to the Nijiya market in the same plaza as a Burger King and Walgreens. *No credit cards for orders less than $ 5 — ugh *Lots of parking, which is always a plus *Cute space with lots of seating inside and a few small tables outside as well *Can’t really speak to the customer service since I had only been there for a few minutes, but didn’t get a very good impression from the few moments I was there
