Hampton Inn & Suites

Nice enough; quiet, but a few aggravating annoyances: We had a large 2 room suite– no full-​length mirrors. Really? Bathroom lights are pathetically dim– don’t try to shave or put on makeup if the sun isn’t out! Long black hairs found in our sheets.
Gross! WiFi has to be renewed like every hour. Try working online with that mess. Our housekeeper threw away things she shouldn’t have, like rubber stoppers for wine. Shabby, thin towels, and not enough of them. Poorly designed without towel bars and the tp holder is in back of the door. What a mess! OK, but won’t come back.

My family and I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suits from 11÷24−11÷28. I have two sons who I travel to visit often and also travel for business, I frequently stay at Hampton Inn & Suits because of standards of the chain.
A few things I noticed were:
— Old blood stains on one of the bed pillows
— Musty /​Moldy smell in the room
— Air conditioner did not work properly, very damp air
— Dirty dishes in the cabinet
— Dead small bugs on bathroom floor
— Water that came out of the bathroom faucet was brown and smelled AWFUL… Had to buy bottled water to brush our teeth
— Hot water never got hot, had to take semi-​cold showers
— Overall cleanliness and smell of the room was less than par
— Door handle was broken making it hard to enter the room every time
— Had to have keys remade 4 times
— Side door entrance from outside was not working 60% of the time
— I reserved the room with a credit card with a chip (like most cards have these days). I received an email from the hotel manager stating if I did not call within an hour, my room would be given away! Good thing I checked my email!!!
On a positive note, the staff was very friendly. I will visit Charleston frequently over the next two years but will need to cross the Hampton Inn & Suits off my list because of the things mentioned above.

Brother’s dream wedding got completely derailed because of Hurricane Joaquin and the historic flooding. An hour before ceremony time, their venue flooded. Hampton Inn came though in the clutch and hosted both the ceremony and reception in the lobby in a moments notice. Full set-​up with DJ, catering and the works. Pretty amazing. So props to manager Matt and the crew at Hampton Inn for saving the day. We will forever be indebted.

This place is perfect! A living room, a separate bedroom, bathroom AND a kitchen, and swimming pool and free breakfast! You couldn’t ask for more! My new home away from home!

Wow. Such a nice place so poorly run???
Hotel is clean, most of the people who work there are nice, polite and work hard to accommodating.
Go to check in around 5, (after «pre-​check in» online available for Diamond members) and told my room isn’t ready. Desk clerk can’t even get my name right (which is NOT hard) and/​or find me in the system. Had to get help. Front desk clerk acted like it was her first day on the job.
New desk clerk comes in, finds me right away, hands me keys and on my way. Only to get to wrong type of room, smaller room than what I booked and internet won’t connect because I’m listed in different room. Almost no towels, missing soap, iron didn’t work and stains on ironing board… You know the drill.
Breakfast: Onions in everything on hot bar, very limited gluten free options, Cold water for hot tea, so. Basically had to go elsewhere.
Not at all the best stay I’ve had. If management and staff would double check quality standards, this could have been better.

Another great Hampton property. Great service from all the front desk team. The ladies that do the Breakfast have a true gift for that. Never been at a Hampton Inn or any Hotel with a staff that really treat you like a guest in their home. These people know people. I stayed for a week. Some of those days I needed to work and not be bothered. Other days I was a more flexible and love to chat. The staff was attentive to each. Only problem I could see is the traffic jam at the waffle machine in the morning. But really that is stretching to find something. The place is great, community spaces are warm and inviting, the pool is nice and big, business center, exercise room, etc. all kept up and fabulous. The best part is the location. You can walk across a parking lot to a supermarket and behind that is a nice open air mall. If you need to run out pick up anything you can walk to whatever you need. They also have suite rooms with kitchens if you need that. Overall a great place and my go to hotel for the Mt Pleasant area.

We booked this stay using HHonors points that I had earned so I can’t really comment on the value because I stayed for free! Overall, though I enjoyed my experience. First, we were able to check in 2−½ hours early which was awesome because we were already sandy and nasty from being on the beach. Chelsea at the front desk was super friendly and fun to talk to during check-​in. Room was clean and the hotel was pretty quiet considering it was booked for the holiday weekend and there were a lot of small children there. We really enjoyed the close proximity of restaurants and the beach. Seems like we were ever only 4 – 12 easy miles from wherever we wanted to go. Also there is a Bilo adjacent to the hotel which was great for getting sunscreen, drinks, etc. We appreciated having a fridge in the room where we could keep sodas. We plan to stay at this Hampton Inn again for our next IOP visit!

This is the second time staying at this property and just like the last time I am very happy with it. The outside is clean and well maintained with very easy access from 17 or the connector. The last time I had a great suite which was a two rooms. This time they where all out if suites and I had to stay in a double queen room on first floor adjacent to the back access road. Like others the noise was very low and I could barely hear any traffic outside.
Interior, was greeted when we checked in with happy faces and the offer of snacks and drinks. Awesome service here! Keep that up.
Here is the ONLY thing that was kinda gross, I had a wet wash rag hanging up in the shower when I checked in. Not worth leaving by any mean or even switching rooms, but still should not be there.
Overall I would highly recommend the property if you need a place to stay in Charleston on this side of town otherwise stay downtown.

Had an awful experience here. Booked a room for Labor Day weekend. I did not found out until we went to check in on Saturday afternoon that they overbooked and bumped us. Not only us but about 20 different people /​rooms of people.
They did not notify any of us in advance by phone or email. Staff did not act apologetic or remorseful.

I may be biased because my father made this reservation hours before I arrived from the world’s WORST HOTEL EVER, but this hotel was great. Check in was the simplest thing in the world. Easy parking. Free Sara Lee pound cake? I ate so much of that. Rooms were spacious though not a nice view. There is a pool (I didn’t go in) and as a tourist, it was SO CLOSE to the bridge, Whole Foods, and even better the Fort Sumter cruise from Mount Pleasant. Is this a palacial estate? No. But its a nice hotel, and even a nice Hampton Inn. I would 100% recommend and stay here again. No drama, no fuss. Oh, and we had a crying baby next to us that you could BARELY hear, so that’s good.
Breakfast was quick and easy but CROWDED at 830am.

Only complaint was the walls were thin, and we could hear our neighbors. Thankfully they went to bed pretty early. :) Room was clean, had that funky beach hotel smell, though. No big deal… it was Mother’s Day weekend and we got the suite for $ 101 on a Saturday night. Brunch was good, and the woman attending it was really lovely. Front desk staff also very pleasant. We will stay here again.

Honestly, I was pretty impressed. I mean, Hampton Inns are usually fine, but nothing particularly special. Upon arrival, we asked if there were any upgrades available, and received a King Suite. This was an actual suite, with a door you could close from the bedroom. The bathroom was very clean, with a separate room for the commode and the tub/​shower. Just outside was a granite vanity. I strongly prefer this, so someone can be in the shower while another person is getting ready at the mirror.
In the living area, there is a loveseat and a comfortable chair with ottoman, a coffee table, and armoire with TV. The kitchen had a ²⁄₃ sized fridge/​freezer combo, sink, dishwasher, 2-​burner stove, coffee maker, microwave, small table with 2 chairs, and the basic utensils/​serveware needed to do some basic cooking.
In the lobby, there is free coffee and a decent selection of teas at all hours. The pool is outside. I would most definitely consider this property again, especially given the price.

Great Hampton Inn, Priced just right for the property and level of service. We stayed here for two nights and could not have been more pleased. Staff was great, always smiling and breakfast was a notch above similar priced hotels.
I hope to return to Charleston SC and stay at this property.
P. S. there is a lot to do with in walking distance, eat, Drink, and Shop and it is easy to get on 526 to be anywhere in Charleston quickly.

I called while on the road, 3 hours before I planned to arrive to reserve rooms and was told the computers were down. I asked if they could manually take my information since I didn’t want to arrive and find no rooms available and the person on the phone laughed and said that wouldn’t be a problem. The tone and response seemed a little rude and unprofessional, but I didn’t think too much of it. I wish I’d trusted my gut instinct. Arriving at the hotel, I found a desk clerk (who turned out to be the manager) who was sullen, even hostile, upon check-​in. 3 employees were hanging around the desk chatting loudly while I and 2 other guests were waiting to check in. The shower in my room had water spots all over the glass door and walls — left from cleaning, or not cleaned at all? The quilted bedspread was hideous quality; it had clearly not been washed properly as the stuffing clumped up into softball sized lumps, making for an uncomfortable sleeping experience. For $ 117/​night (and that’s the AAA rate), I was very disappointed. Other perfectly nice AAA recommended hotels were right up the road and had rooms advertised for less than $ 70. I chose this hotel based on my positive experiences with other Hilton brand hotels; don’t make my mistake — stay away.

We were SO pleasantly surprised! I was nervous at first because we were literally the first room on the first floor. Luckily, we were in a suite, and the bedroom was tucked back away from the hall — so it was quiet.
Our room had a small kitchenette, sitting area, two TVs, free wifi, and a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Really, what else did we need? They also gave us coupons for complimentary bottles of water.
The bathroom had a real hair dryer and plenty of towels. I have to say we were impressed! We had gotten a great rate online and for what we paid, we were beyond happy with our stay. It’s not a luxury hotel, but again — for the price, the amenities were great.

I got the king size bed suite which was very, very, very comfortable. Me, Lana and my niece slept like a dream… and we really needed the rest since we had a very early flight to catch. BTW it takes about 20 minutes to get to the airport (take 526 W then I-​26) as well as historic downtown Charleston (take 17 N over Ravenel Bridge then exit at Meeting).
I chose to stay at this hotel because it was cheaper than Marriott Residence… I knew the they were both 3 plus stars so the price made the difference.
As far as food is concerned there are plenty of franchise restaurants nearby. We walked to Tsunami for dinner.
