Hampton Inn Philadelphia/Mt Laurel

We recently stayed here for a wedding weekend understanding that the hotel was in the midst of a renovation. Which after our stay I can say it certainly needs. And I’m not sure I would recommend staying here before the renovation is complete. That said…
The staff is exemplary and truly deserves 5 stars. We were impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone we met — from the front desk to the breakfast servers to the cleaning ladies to the janitorial staff. The breakfasts were up to normal Hampton Inn standards — not the Ritz but perfectly edible with a wide variety of options (e.g. fruit, oatmeal, etc.) for the more health conscious. As always I wish that they offered plain yogurt as one of the ‘flavors’.
The fitness center is all of three machines — but it was clean with fresh towels and I happily alternated between the treadmill and elliptical machine during our stay. And while in January the outdoor pool was a disappointment to our kids, it did mean that the fitness center didn’t smell of chlorine.

Stayed here for the past five nights; where to start? I can forgive the tarps covering archways and blocking entire hallways, as well as the intermittent construction noise, since they are undergoing a major renovation. Bad timing, and nothing else. What I cannot forgive?
I checked in on Sunday the 10^th, for a week of corporate training. I awoke on Monday the 11^th to NO WATER. That means NO shower, NO shaving, NO toilet. I phoned the front desk and was informed that there was a «plumbing situation» that forced a shutoff of all water to the hotel. Not to worry; they were «kind» enough to allow me to drive nearly ten minutes to the Fairfield Suites to sh! t, shower and shave. Awesome; now I’m homeless. Why the loss of plumbing? Some poor soul on the first floor had the water main break over his room, flooding the entire first floor. Cue the wet/​dry vacs and remediation crews. Okay, this is a one-​off inconvenience, right?
Moving on. The bed felt like it was broken on one side and listing to the left on the other. Like a stateroom on the Titanic. Four pillows; two filled with bricks and two filled with tapioca pudding. Awesome. The TV got ²⁄₃ of the channels ²⁄₃ of the time. Good thing I brought my Kindle. Except that the wifi cut out every hour on the hour.
There were ten of us in town for the same training and eight of us were interred here at GuanHamptonMo Bay. I hope, hope, hope that our employer bails on this awful establishment in time for next months training session.
On the positive side of things; the cookies were decent. Of course, a bag of Chips Ahoy and a sleeping bag in my car would have been just as nice.

This hotel is in serious need of renovation! One elevator was out of service and the other was slow and creeky. Internet was inaccessible.
Breakfast area was small and over crowded, but food was plentiful and tasty.

Extremely disappointing, even for Hampton inn. Sure the coffee is there ²⁴⁄₇ and you’ll need it after a crummy night sleep — because you are itchy from the beds. Don’t dare to look behind the headboard. If all the other hotels weren’t sold out I would have without a doubt stayed somewhere else. Really run down and unacceptable. Probably wouldn’t even wish this place on my worst enemy.
The one star is simply because the front desk staff is friendly and good at their job; otherwise this place is disgusting. Did I mention disgusting?
Can’t believe my company has this on the approved travel list.

I don’t know why the rating of this place is so low. I understand that some people may have a bad experience but I am just here to share my experience…
Hotel overall is pretty clean, the front desk are very friendly and were willing to help me and my fiancé get comfortable by meeting our request for razor, extra towells, shaving cream, etc. I also like this place because they offer 24 hours warm coffee in the lobby because I don’t really like the coffee in the room since they never give enough sugars and provides crappy creamer. Anyway… they also offer a pretty decent free breakfast from 6 am-​10 am I believe.
I was very hesitant about this place because there was one review on tripadvisor where someone complained a bed bug, but I can assure you, our room was clean and there was no bed bugs to be found. I enjoyed the swimming pool too, it is clean and the place is fairly inexpensive for the service they provided.
Now my only complain is that, we stayed for memorial day weekend and after our first night there, we left in the morning to travel down to Philadelphia. We specifically took off the «Do not disturb» sign from our door because I remember in detailed that I didn’t want them to clean the room while my fiancé wanted to, so I took the sign and leave it on the bed and told my fiancé to get all the electronic from the room and to make sure we didn’t leave any money or anything important in the room. Then when we came back, there was a sign on our door and the «Do not disturb» sign all of a sudden is back on our door with a note from the housekeeping staff that they could not clean our room because there was the do not disturb sign on the door. Basically, we knew the housekeeper did not come to our room to clean it even after we specifically not put the sign on the door. Why? I don’t know… they’re lazy? I don’t know what the reason is but that pissed me off. The other thing is that the second time I asked for a towell, the front desk told us that the housekeeper wilk come by to our room with the towell. Five hours later… no one came by. I told my fiancé to go down and get it from the front desk.
That is the only complaint I have about this hotel. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay, hence why we cannot give a full 5 star to this hotel.

This particular Hampton Inn has 2 ½ stars for a reason… I travel a lot for work and the only reason why I come back to this place is because of the points. I stay in Hampton Inn’s all over the Mid-​Atlantic region and this one is the worst. The parking lot and exterior of the building is not well lit and at night you can barely find the place! The front desk staff is robotic and clueless. On one occasion, they messed up my reservation and had to find me a room. They gave me a room that was already occupied! Then when I returned to tell them about the mistake, they gave me a new room number that had an «air purifier» plugged in because someone had been smoking in it (it was a non-​smoking room). It reaked! It’s all they had left so I had to tough it out. I couldn’t wait to leave the place. But alas, I decide to give it another shot. This time I’m on the third floor and… no hot water! You can’t even shower in this shit hole! I like Hampton Inn’s but this one is a disgrace to the brand! And I’ve stayed in over 30.

Was here with a wedding party, and I was beyond disappointed. This hotel is sub par and just plain gross. The staff is even worse. First off, you would think that since the do not disturb sign is on the door they wouldn’t bother with trying to get in. Nope… at o dark thirty they’re trying to open the door and make the beds. Who does that? Luckily I had the lock on… but still… got woken up by the rudest housekeeping staff in the world. Ended up going down for food around 10am and the hot breakfast had just ended… no one had told us during check in that it ended at 930. Sooooo angry. Told them during check in that I wanted to pay cash and they said ok but took my card number down for security purposes. Co. e to find out they double charged me for the room… and added extra stuff on the bill. Pointed it out and the concierge got very uppity. Don’t come here… you’re better sleeping at a gas station.

I don’t know what people expect from Hampton Inns. I travel a lot, and don’t expect much… so I am not disappointed here. When I am traveling I look for a safe clean place to stay.
I know the difference between five star hotels and chain hotels, so I rate the two differently. I think it is silly when people try to compare the two. This hotel is very inexpensive, like $ 150 a night. So for the money you can’t beat it. The last time I was here I stayed at the Wingate (NEVER AGAIN), and this is wayyyyyyy better.
This Is a clean safe place to stay on the road. The staff was SO friendly. Super nice ladies at the front desk, and a very kind breakfast attendant really make this a great place to stay. They even called up to my room to make sure everything was okay.
They do have a small workout room and a seasonal pool. They have a great large breakfast in the morning. It is a very cozy, comfortable, clean place.
It serves it purpose as a friendly stop on my business trips. I slept great here, and they have free cookies!

This hotel has a very nice staff. The free breakfast is fantastic. The rooms have microwave and refrigerator. Clean and appealing.

I swear the layout seems exactly the same as the Kansas City airport Hampton Inn location. Here goes my 36^th one star review (out of 460):
–Leaky faucet (too late to call maintenance by the time I was thoroughly annoyed) so I shut the bathroom door all the time
–Brown smudges, almost like make up, on the shower wall. Just gross.
–Stains all over the sofa bed
–Carpet definitely needs an upgrade
–Hallway was dingy
For a sofa bed, microwave, and fridge, my room rate was $ 159.85 including taxes on a Tuesday night. There’s free wifi and breakfast, but that doesn’t make up for the dirtiness of the hotel. Stay away!

VERY disappointing for a Hampton Inn. Threadbare /​torn /​stained carpet in the hallways, dated, stained furnishings in the rooms (I think the chair in my room was probably from the 1980’s and was filthy! — no fault to the housekeeper — there was no way this chair could have been cleaned!). The staff was neither good nor bad but the physical condition of the hotel is definitely not up to usual Hampton excellent standards.

Sub par for sure. Musty odor throughout the hotel, no consistent TV channel signals and while the staff was not rude they were less than interested in helping solve problems and more interested in using the lobby PC. This will be my only stay here.

This Hampton Inn is not up to par with the rest of the chain. It’s an older hotel in serious need of renovations. No fitness room on site. They give you a coupon for a free trial at Ballys but you basically don’t do it since inconvenient. Small outdoor pool is available in the summer time, mostly for kids to play.
The staff is friendly but it doesn’t make up for the lack of attention to details: visible hairs still on the bathroom floor when I checked in, push-​in buttons in the elevators not properly working so you don’t know if your floor request is being registered, fruit basket and tea bags basket in the breakfast area pretty much empty and not being refilled, room smelling musty, key lock coming back from the swimming pool area not working so you have to walk around back to the reception area to get back to your room…
Basically, not worth your money, if you need to stay in the area pick-​up another newer hotel chain located on the same street.

This hotel used to be a smoking hotel. No one has ever told me that, but I know, because my room smells like it used to be a smoking room. You would think they’d have changed the carpet, curtains, wallpaper, and chairs when they went from smoking to non, and maybe they did, but it smells like they didn’t. Otherwise, the room is ok. It’s ugly in the way most hotel rooms are. The clock radio doesn’t get any FM signal and there’s no wireless internet in the rooms (and the wired internet is slow). Breakfast isn’t even as good as it is at the Marriott hotels (read: pretty bad). On the plus side, my room has a microwave and fridge, and the bed is really, really comfortable. I’ve also found the staff to be really helpful and friendly. There’s no fitness room, but they give you a free pass to a great gym. In a way that’s better than having a dinky little fitness room on site. I can see the pool from my window and it looks nice, but I try to avoid hotel pools.
I have another reservation to come back here later this month, but I’m seriously considering canceling it and going somewhere else. Hampton, I had such high hopes for you, and you let me down.
