The Grand Lodge--Crested Butte

Maybe not a 5 star luxury hotel, but nonetheless awesome. Great rooms, kitchenette, great indoor/​outdoor pool, wifi signal, good design, on slopes, clean

Stayed here 3 nights. Great, clean rooms, quiet. Great location. Service and front desk are incredible. Great people working there. Parking is a breeze.
The Restaurant is the most disgusting place I’ve ever eaten in, but its a great hotel so I won’t be a jerk and deduct for that. We ate incredible pizza at Brick Oven the night before — why did I order pizza here??? I don’t know. The service was so bad I shit you not the server just left and no one came by, I had to get up and start asking for the check. She got the Pasta Pomodoro, which being Italian seriously was a racist offense to my culture. Take it off the menu and never speak a word of it again. Or just put it in English. The ACLU needs to here about this.
But, back to that pizza. That pizza was nasty! Like Eating out of a garbage can at the bus stop when its 120 degrees and stinks like pee. So just in case anyone from the kitchen thinks, «this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about.» Your wrong! I do, have Italian cooking experience and can help you.
Here’s a few tips for free. Turn the over to 600 degrees at least. You’re using gas, but put some chips something in there for smoke. Then get the cornmeal off the crust, mix it with flour, its ok on the bottom, but nothing was cooked, the dough still doughy and soft. Yuck!

Not so Grand… the room was filthy and we had to keep calling the front desk to get clean sheets. Housekeeping never did clean the room the entire week, they were in and out in two minutes flat. The Lodge at Mountaineer Square is much nicer and clean.

Our stay at The Grand Lodge Crested Butte was great! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there was no AC. We were all hot, which made it hard to sleep comfortably. Other than that the room was great. We had a room with 2 king beds and 1 was a murphy bed. Our room was very affordable and it came with 2 free lift passes. We got lucky as we stayed on Fathers Day weekend and dads got to ride the lift for free with the purchase of a childs ticket. I would recommend The Grand Lodge & we will definitely stay again

Very disappointed, stayed in one of the suites and had a multitude of issues. The shower was disgusting and would not drain. The outlet in the bathroom was broken and it took three hair dryers from the front desk until they gave a new one which also broke in the outlet. When they sent someone to fix it while we were at dinner we came back to a shower that still wouldn’t drain and was now filthy from the workers shoes. There was no manager on duty and the employees weren’t sympathetic to our issues. Would not recommend this to others.

We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Lodge. If we had paid a more expensive rate, I would probably rate the hotel as 3 stars.
In the past we have stayed at a condo nearby but the owners decided to no longer rent our their unit. Who do they think they are!!! So I set out in search of a hotel room and came across a fabulous rate for the Grand Lodge. We normally stay at five star accomadations and find the Ritz Carlton to be a bit shabby these days so I wasn’t sure how we would end up liking the Grand Lodge. I didn’t think it was worth an extra $ 600 to stay at Elevation… that is a week’s lift ticket, pair of shoes, money in the market, etc.
Here are some things I like about the hotel:
1. Location. Short walk to the lifts
2. Swimming pool. Sometimes it is crowded with children but other times it isn’t.
3. Room is a decent size.
4. Lots of TV channels and free Wi-​Fi.
5. Free parking. As a Washingtonian and former Manhattanite, free parking never gets old!
6. Pet friendly.
7. Friendly staff
8. Room was very clean! The cleaning ladies did a great job every single day! I can’t overemphasize how clean the room was.
What didn’t I like?
1. We stayed for seven nights and they put us in a room right by the ice machines and elevators. Ugh. It was kind of loud every morning, most likely from all the people from Texas. The hotel needs to put up some quiet signs in the hallways and by the elevators. There were literally people screaming at each other down the hallway.
2. Guests from Texas!!! This is not the hotel’s fault. Seriously what is wrong with these people? Loud, overweight and horrible manners — most of the time. I know most Americans dislike Texans and now I know why. You would think with the «family values» that the men would at least have some manners and would quiet their family when clearly disturbing others.
3. The kitchenette needs a toaster.
4. Our room didn’t have a fireplace, but maybe others do.
5. The breakfast downstairs in GROSS. Head to camp 4 coffee and bring something back to the room.
Overall, I enjoyed staying here and will return if we find a good rate next time.

Well I am happy to report that my first groupon getaway was a success! We stayed for two nights at The Grand Lodge. While sleeping on a murphy bed is never a first choice, it is really the only reason I took away the 5^th star. Yes, we came during the off-​season, so the hotel was far from full, which meant it was peaceful and quiet. The restaurant and gift shops were not open, but who cares when you can hop on the free shuttle bus into town? The accommodations in the rooms are fantastic (fridge, dishwasher, microwave), the shower heads are amazing, and they provide two robes to use during your stay. Parking was kind of an issue – because there were no doors near our room, so we had to walk through the lobby each time, but in the grand scheme of things it was a minor inconvenience. Overall, we had a great experience and LOVE CRESTED BUTTE!

Came here using a groupon. There is practically no room service – our bathtub was backed up, we asked someone to come take a look TWICE, and no one ever came.
Walls are paper thin as well. We could hear people talking at a normal voice in the room next door (it was one of those rooms that shared a door). We later asked to be switched because we were on the second floor overlooking vents which they obliged to. That room didn’t have the shared door, but vacuuming, people talking on walkie talkis, and the ice machine helped wake us up in the morning.
We tried the breakfast buffet in the morning, it was not worth the price – although the made to order omelettes were pretty good.
It’s an older hotel – the lobby might be refurbished but the walls between rooms have not been.
The good thing though was that the room came with a stove, dishwasher, sink, and microwave. That was GREAT. We were able to heat up food and make tea no problem. Their cabinets also have pots, pans, spoons, forks, plates, etc. so we did not have a problem there either. Rooms also have HDTVs which I wasn’t sure of before we came.

Worst hotel I’ve stayed at for many years. Beds are ROCK HARD, staff is practically non existent, restaurant is closed, have to go down three floors to get ice, there is some sort crazy loud rattling exhaust system in the bathroom that is not controlled in-​room which is constantly on, there’s no AC in the room just wall mount heaters, window dressings don’t cover the entire window and entire room stays lit up at night (think old Porky Pig cartoon where he fights window shade all night and never sleeps), construction in parking lot… I would never recommend it to adult travelers. Twenty somethings who are on ski party trips and need somewhere to pass out are the only people I would suggest stay here.

Fresh cookies everyday at 3pm, fireplace in the king suit! What an amazing and magical place. We are a few feet away from the lifts and great food and shops! Some say this place is outdated but who cares if the coffee maker is the same one I had in 1994… It still makes a great cup!

Nice hotel but a little dated. The highlight of the hotel is the staff they are extremely pleasant and helpful. They couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms are pretty nice but the second bed is a Murphy bed. The amenities are nice and the hotel is 100 yards from the slopes and 50 yards to the shuttle. Great location. The only negatives are restaurant and pot smokers. The restaurant is open for breakfast which is ok but same few items every day. As far as the pot smokers even though you sign a form that says they’ll charge you $ 250 and call the police if you smoke pot in the room people do and it really stinks up the hallway.

My first time to this area… I gotta say this Lodge is fantastic! I plan to bring the family back for Christmas this year.
If you are a family in need of multi rooms with shared kitchen ask for rooms 211 and 211A. These are on the hot tub side of the resort so you dont get the 5am wake up from the snow trucks every morning.
I absolutely love this place!

Murphy bed. The «2 king room» is actually one king bed and one king Murphy bed. It was the worst bed my fiancé and I have ever slept on. We tossed and turned all night. And I woke up and instantly got a back spasm that has lasted all day and inspired me to write this review. There is no way to know the second king is a Murphy bed until you walk in and can’t find the second bed and call down to the front desk only to learn that every room has a Murphy bed… Boo…
Other than that, the shower head was amazing, and I loved the various sea/​spa themed scents of the complimentary shampoo/​lotion/​conditioner/​soap. There was a steam room downstairs open to guests (that we didn’t get the chance to use, but looked appealing). The breakfast buffet was $ 10.50 and appeared to have a great selection (we walked to Camp 4 Coffee instead and got breakfast burritos). The kitchenette with a one-​eye stove looked useful if we were staying more than one night (a big pot, some dishes, a dishwasher, a sink, and a 4-​cup coffee pot too). No AC, but didn’t need it in mid-​July, so I can’t imagine you’d ever really need it. Free shuttle to town (that makes stops at a few hotels) right outside the hotel. And they provided free lift tickets to take the scenic ride up the mountain and hike around a bit ($ 17 each, so $ 51 value for the three of us), which was really the highlight for us.
Overall, not bad if you’re not the one sleeping on the Murphy bed. But definitely not as grand as we had hoped… pretty standard, actually, with a large resort-​style price tag. Better to rent a vacation rental or maybe one of the boutique hotels/​bed and breakfasts down in town.

This hotel was a good spot to hang out while checking out Crested Butte. The rooms are ok, nothing special, but get the job done. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions regarding food. We found the pool and hot tub very nice and the fact that the hotel will store your mountain bikes is a nice added bonus.

A lot of ski resorts tend to act snobby towards their younger customers. Here, not the case at all! The employees at the Grand Lodge were some of the nicest and most accommodating people I have met. They were super knowledgeable and helpful when I asked about snowshoe excusions, let us do a late checkout, and in general went above and beyond (fresh made cookies and humidifiers, yes thanks!). Great place! Really enjoyed it.

Crested Butte is freaking awesome! This hotel was a great, affordable, well-​located lodging choice for the weekend. As for my review, honestly, I feel like a lame-​o for writing this, but Missy B.‘s review sums up what I would have said, with the following exceptions/​additions:
— We stayed Labor Day Wkd and the weather was lovely. As such, the lack of AC was no bother
— The tub is jetted. It was delightful, but very slow to drain
— They offer a tasty breakfast buffet for $ 9.50 pp. Do it, but also know that the coffee was watery and bland
— We did not take the shuttle since we had a bad experience with free shuttles in Steamboat, but there was a great walking/​biking path right outside the entrance that you can take into town
Although the hotel was a bit outdated, I would definitely return.

I recently stayed here for a wedding that I was attending in July. It is located next to «The Lodge» which is a much nicer hotel, so I found it a bit funny that this one was named «the Grand Lodge» when it was definitely not more grand than the Lodge next door!
The check-​in experience was awesome, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They provide you with maps, shuttle times and recommendations on where to eat and what to do. The lobby was very open and had an over-​priced gift shop inside. Also, there was a restaurant, access to the indoor/​outdoor pool and a gym.
The rooms are long and narrow and we thought it a bit odd that the bed was located in the section nearest the door, with the couch and kitchenette in the back of the room. Also, a word of warning, if you are staying in the summer, there is no AC in the rooms! They provide box fans, but I can’t lie, it was pretty miserable at night!
the best part about this hotel was the that there was a shuttle stop for the free shuttle into town only steps away from the entrance. It was very convenient! Overall, I would stay here again. It was great value for the money.

Convenient to the slopes, helpful staff and great amenities — makes for a very easy weekend getaway!

Big rooms, huge hot tub, clean, friendly staff. Great place.
Walk to the lifts is closer than the parking lot at Keystone — which is to say it’s very short. They also store your skis at the slope-​side ski storage (free) so you don’t even have to carry your skis back and forth.
Tip: The free shuttle to town is right outside the hotel.

This a GREAT place to stay for a ski trip to Crested Butte. My friends and I choose to go here when we got a coupon for a discount package at a Denver Nuggets game.
The accommodations are first class, all the way. The suite had two plasmas, a king-​size bed, pull-​out couch, and enough space for the right to ride the floor. Kitchen was decent to cook our own provisions. Housekeeping staff was prompt, efficient, and kind.
All in, for four days, we spent less than $ 900 for the room with taxes, etc. Split between the three of us, that left a lot of nickels for the «Talk of the Town», (review to follow)
Outdoor hot tub, indoor sauna, steam room, available massages at the Spa. Starbucks INSIDE the hotel. We would walk in from a day at hitting the slopes and the valets would literally grab our skis and take them to the slopeside storage for the next day.
All of this, and you have a 300-​yard walk to the chair lift. Along the way you pass Butte 66 bar, other restaurants, the lift ticket windows, and rental shops.
They had just finished their remodel and it showed. Everything was great. We went Super Bowl Sunday, and and a great sesh on the runs, and then watched the Colts win.
