Django’s Restaurant & Wine Bar

Obsessed. My new favorite restaurant on the mountain. I’ve been wanting to go there for awhile and I finally convinced my group to do so. It’s definitely not a place to go when you’re hungry. I also don’t recommend it for children. It reminds me of a restaurant that belongs in a W Hotel. The service was on point. They are knowledgeable of the plates and can help steer you in the right direction. We almost ordered all of the small plates they had to offer. My personal favorite were the artichoke hearts and the Brussel sprouts. Yum! The meat eaters in the group raved about the elk. If you’re going to bring the kids, I’d order them the steak frites. My two boys loved it. They had an extensive wine selection. I think every restaurant should offer a quartino (¹⁄₃ bottle of wine). Keep up the good work. Can’t wait to come back!

Some of my favorite memories from my honeymoon were made here at Django’s, just steps away from our lodging room at the Mountaineer Square. We came in one night for tapas and champagne, and were so impressed by the flavors and the view of the Chef’s counter, that we had to return for dinner another night! We weren’t disappointed.
The second night we came, Kate (the executive chef), came by and introduced herself to us personally. She made us feel very welcome and recommended a few select menu items, which we ordered. We tried the Rabbit Cannelloni and our lives were forever changed. The pasta was unlike anything we’d ever tasted; it was made start-​to-​finish from scratch and was run through the pasta roller machine at least 10 times, if not more. The combination of the barely-​there pasta, with the fluffiness of the rabbit mixed with cheeses inside the cannelloni, was absolutely remarkable. On the side, we had the brussel sprouts which were slightly crispy, complementary to our entrée, and superbly delicious. The wine options were also very good at Django’s. We received recommendations each night and were offered tastings happily. We came back another night (maybe two) and relived this experience again just cause we were so taken with the impeccable service and food, we just couldn’t stop.
Please note that items listed above may be available seasonally. We visited in December. Also, I’m pretty sure that just about anything on the menu would take you on this same sort of happy-​belly experience. Don’t limit yourself to one thing, just because I said so.
I can’t say enough praise to everyone at Django’s that made our experience so lovely on the mountain. The convenience of the location in proximity to that of the Mountaineer Lodge was unbeatable and no other dining experience in Crested Butte lived up to what we had at Django’s. In fact, we haven’t been able to stop talking about it since and we truly can’t wait to get back up to that mountain to visit our Django family again soon. Cheers

What a fantastic night at Django’s! We recommend sitting at the bar to watch the staff prepare the dishes ;) Everyone was incredibly friendly (granted, it’s hard not to find friendly people in Crested Butte). We specially enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts and the Duck leg. Warning: The portion size of the scallops was small for the price. We ordered «A Lisa» Malbec wine and it was delicious. The crème brûlée was a wonderful finish for the night. Definitely must visit!

Excellent, imaginative food. Very good wine list. Intimate atmosphere. Great service. Can ve a little noisy when full. Dress is casual to dressy — It’s in a ski resort. We’ve eaten at Django’s a number of times and it has never disappointed. I don’t think the photos do it justice. Peter K

By far the most incredible Acorn squash arancini, baby articokes, grilled hanger steak frites, boneless beef shorties, crispy Brussels sprouts we have EVER had!!! The wine list is superb also. BIG KUDOS FOR THE CHEFS AND AMAZING KNOWLEDGEABLE SERVERS! !!!

We had a reservation here on Christmas eve and we were going to cancel it — I am so glad we didn’t. This has some delicious food! My fave was the Brussel Sprouts. Everything is small plates to share which makes it fun. The wine list is fantastic. Our service was ok — our waiter kind of just did his job. The tip is built into the price of the food, so I wonder if that is why he didn’t work too hard. Anyways, I would DEFINITELY go back here again!

Dropped in last night with a rather large group. I was immediately impressed with the wine list. What surprised me even more was the absolutely incredible food! My wife and I have eaten all over the world and have a particular – albeit budget busting – affinity for Michelin stars. I dare say the Michelin Man should make a visit to CB.
Django is easily on par with any of the best restaurants in Downtown Denver. Do not miss this place if you are a foodie!

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, as we had our baby with us. The food was very good, the duck leg was my favorite. The meat was so tender and fell off the bone and had a perfectly crispy skin. The brussel sprouts were another favorite.
It is a bit pricey for small plates and our waiter was a bit aloof.

Always a great time at this restaurant. Chris is an amazing host and the food is as good as it gets in Crested Butte.

Serving up the ultimate après-​ski menu, this small-​plate-​style restaurant is easily the trendiest and most sought after spot in town. After a long day of skiing there’s no better way to feed your appetite than with exceptional small plates, an extensive wine list and crafted cocktails. Inspired by the cuisines of Southern Europe, Django’s is sure to delight everyone in your party.
I’d recommend ordering the charcuterie plate filled with the most amazing chorizo, shaved salami, creamy burrata cheese and house-​made lavosh crackers. The Trio of Nibbles with rosemary marcona almonds, parsnip ribbons and Italian country olives, will make you re-​examine everything you think you know about parsnips, olives and almonds. Such a tasty platter, we fought over the last crumbs in this trio. Of course, you can’t go wrong with the Catalonian Flatbreads topped with fruitwood-​smoked blue cheese, caramelized onions and Medjool dates. The blue cheese is just divine. Don’t miss the trendiest après-​ski spot on the mountain!

Overall was very expensive for the small portions and the ok taste of the food.

Beets: B (tasted ok but not a lot of beets on the plate in comparison to the other condiments)

Django’s was the restaurant that we visited on our first night in Crested Butte and it certainly set the bar. Right on the base of the mountain and right outside our hotel, we couldn’t have found a more convenient restaurant. We got spectator seats of the kitchen and the pass which provided for some great entertainment. Only complaint about the interior is the weird see through cloth that drapes around the tables.
Despite being small plates, the quantity wasn’t as diminutive as some other «small plates» joints I’ve been too (may or may not be referring to Acorn). I was pleasantly surprised by the sizing, specifically the brussel sprouts half order and the duck. Amongst the Brussels, we ordered the charcuterie, roasted baby beets, the slow roasted duck leg, and the pan-​seared Colorado striped bass. Everything was exceptional with the duck being the highlight for me and the striped bass stealing the show for my girlfriend. She couldn’t stop raving about the lemon-​mascarpone risotto that accompanied the bass, even while out to dinner the following night.
The dinner at Django’s was a great experience with not a single miss as far as the food went. The service was fair and the ambience was solid. Without a doubt, I’d return on my next trip into CB.

This was THE BEST food i’ve ever had in my life. The ambiance, the courtesy and knowledgeable staff and the food. oh my heavens the food! The owner came over to our table and welcomed us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves, which we certainly were.
My party had 6 people including myself, this was great as we were able to have many different plates. Total, our party had 13 different tapas. It was so difficult to rank them as all the dishes offered different flavors, textures and offerings. My personal favorite was the brussel sprouts our table loved them so much we ordered two! I loved the arugula salad as i’m a blue cheese fan. accompanied with the pistachios the salad texture and incredible flavor. Like many of the other reviews, I too like the duck leg but also loved the bass and the lamb!
We also ordered cocktails and those didn’t disappoint either. Our table ordered a couple different drinks and they were so creative and flavorful! My favorite was the blackberry Manhattan which wasn’t too sweet but warmed our tummy’s up from being out in the cold. My bf’s favorite (as i can’t remember darn!) was a hot temperature cocktail. It had an orange rind, whiskey and a kiss of tea. oh it was delicious.
Highly recommend this restaurant as it was an experience I will never forget!

This really should be a 4.5 star review but Unilocal on works in whole numbers… I rounded down only because well I don’t know why I just did.
The food comes family style for sharing so you order 4 or 5 dishes for a party of 2. They bring them in timed intervals so you are basically getting courses so you don’t get overloaded all at once.
Food is really good!

Had friends in from East Coast and DJ’s was a big hit. Pace was perfect & all dishes were superb! HT cocktail was terrific — maybe that’s why I had such a good time.

We walked in and they were full so we sat at the bar. We had a great evening watching both the drinks and food being prepared. Our wine selection was perfect and the small plate servings were fabulous. Best brussel sprouts ever. Both owners were there and you can tell they love what they do.

A Little Gem in Crested Butte! They serve tapas small plate style and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. Steak and Frites and Colorado stripe bass were delicious! Excellent service ! We will be back next time we are in town.

My favorite date night place in Crested Butte. I love eating Tapas style, one dish at a time, enjoying many treats instead of one. Both times we ate here were on a Tuesday at 5:00 and we were able to walk right in, but the smart money would call ahead for a reservation, especially since they are closed for weeks at a time in the off season. The bacon wrapped figs are an absolute must. The service was attentive on both occasions, sad to say a rarity in CB. Plan to take your time and sample everything you can.

What a gem! I visited Django on my second night in Crested Butte. It happened to be their opening night and there ended up being a really good turn out.
When I arrived, I was greeted by the hostess and also one of the owners, who I recognized from the website. The owner asked my name and told me to pick anywhere I wanted to sit (I arrived earlier in the evening when it was still quiet). Since I was alone, he suggested I sit at the far end of the bar where I could watch the kitchen (which I love doing). I noticed that all through the evening, he was making his rounds to the tables to ask people how everything was going with their meals. This, to me, is a very clear indicator of an owner who really cares about his business. It was a huge plus in my book.
The restaurant is tapas style, which I really like, but I figured I’d be spending a lot on dinner since I was hungry. To my surprise, two small plates were more than enough to fill me up. I first ordered the sautéed mushrooms, which were beautifully presented and tasted even more beautiful. I’m a sucker for brussels sprouts, so I ordered that dish next (the most popular menu item, and for good reason). I got the half size which was huge for one person! Had they not been so delicious, I might not have been able to finish them all.
At first I was a little thrown off by the prices of the wine, but when you order a «glass», you’re really getting a small carafe that comes to about ¹⁄₃ bottle of wine. It was the perfect amount for me, and I usually prefer at least two glasses with a meal.
The other thing I wasn’t quite sure about at first was when the bartender told me that they bring out one plate at a time. Since I was hungry, I thought I wanted everything at once so I didn’t have to wait while I was still hungry for my second plate to come out. But as soon as i started eating my first plate, I was really glad they do it the way they do. Not having multiple foods in front of me allowed me to really enjoy the food I did have, and given the quality of the food, that was a really good thing. I did hear one of the waitresses telling the chef that there was a table that wanted some things at the same time, so I guess it can be done, but I highly recommend that you stick with their method of one plate at a time. It’s really worth it.
The quality of the experience and the food and wine really rounded out my time at Django’s. I noticed that some new wait and kitchen staff were being trained, mostly by the head chef and bartender, and I was really impressed with the patience that both displayed while simultaneously doing their job. In my opinion, there was so much to love about the experience. I would recommend going on a slower night, so you get a chance to talk to the bartender, and maybe even the owner.
