Specialties

We provide hourly, half day and full day charter cruises in and outside Morro Bay’s beautiful bay. All our charters are run by experienced U.S. Coast Guard-​approved captains on Minerva, our recently beautifully refitted 32-​foot Gulf Pilothouse. We can accommodate up to 6 passengers per cruise, and our guests are welcome to bring beer, wine and snacks along for a fun, relaxing experience on the water!

History

Established in 2012.

In early 2011, Central Coast native Dane Jacobs acquired a beat-​up 32-​foot Gulf Pilothouse, almost by chance. A lifelong waterman who had always dreamed of owning a boat, Dane spent the next 16 months redoing the sailboat and learning all he could about her, while still balancing coursework at Cal Poly and two jobs. Throughout this process the idea for Red Anchor Charters emerged quite naturally. With the help of some very dedicated friends and family members, Dane opened Red Anchor Charters in May 2012.

I wish I could give this five stars, I really do. Because that would have involved a good experience. As it was, though, my family wasn’t fortunate enough for that. Our reservations were cancelled, due to the boat needing repairs. This may not have been a big deal, except that after both an email and a phone call to confirm our refund, we hadn’t heard from them. So we went on vacation simply trusting their system.
When the money went missing from the bank account on Friday morning, we figured the repairs were finished and the tour was back on. We figured wrong. After struggling to find the slip (since we were given the wrong address for their building by the website), we were treated to an empty boat. It took another phone call — one that was actually answered this time — to find out that the boat was still having electrical issues, and thanks to a faulty server, they hadn’t gotten the email. I don’t know what their reason for not answering the phone message was. So we got to run around in circles because they don’t know how to cancel withdrawals in a timely manner. Vacation fun for all.

This is such a neat gem the central coast has. This is why I love it here, because things here are full of good people doing things they love & good times that are contagious to all. So good Morro bay has something like this! Don’t miss this neat opportunity to see morro in a way you’ll remember for ages.

This father-​son (Christian-​Dane) business is animated with a love of the ocean. And, let me warn you, this love is contagious.
When we left the shore, our 8-​year-​old son would have sworn he wanted to be a video game designer when he grows up. After two hours under the expert tutelage of captain Dane (Christian’s son), our son now wants to become a sailor!
While this was happening at the helm, Christian was keeping mommy busy — who’s also a sailor-​in-​training in the Bay Area — rigging the sails. In the meantime, our youngest daughter had fallen asleep in her sister’s arms on the bean bag chairs on the front deck.
We had brought snacks and wine along, but our hosts kept us all so engaged that we never even opened the cooler. We all had a fantastic time. Thanks again gentlemen. We’ll be back! :)

These guys are the best ever. We were in Morro Bay to celebrate our anniversary with our best friends, and to renew our vows (which we do every five years). What could be better than getting remarried on a sailboat in Morro Bay? Dane was so accommodating helping us set everything up; the day itself was perfect; and Drew and Christian made us feel like family while taking incredibly good care of us. We renewed our vows in the front of the boat while floating serenely in the back bay; it was the best ever. We can’t wait to go back and sail with them again!

Had a great time sailing with Christian and Drew. The boat is beautiful and they have bean bags on the deck. You can go out and have a quiet romantic time or the guys can put on music and you can party. Down to earth good people that cater to your needs and care about your experience. Christina is the man! Had a wonderful time and will be back on the Minerva when I’m back in Morro. Definitely recommend the company. 5 Star all around!

We went for a cruise Saturday night. Drew and Christian were fabulous. They were so friendly! My boyfriend proposed in the middle of the cruise. The cruise of the bay was truly the highlight of our vacation, not only because of the proposal but also how enjoyable, fun, and relaxing it was

We just got back from our cruise. It was the most fun cruise we could have taken. both of our kids got to drive the sail boat. The captian and his 1st mate were wonderful, accomidating and full of great information about morro bay and all of the sea life. We got really close to the sea lions, sea otters and morrow rock. Best vacation highlight ever. Will be back again.

If you want the best sailing adventure ever, these are your guys. They are completely in tune to whatever your needs may be and do everything they can to make your trip fun and enjoyable. Dane is so kind and engaging, Drew is a great skipper and let us sail the boat and Christian does everything he can to make a memorable adventure for all.
