Morro Dunes RV Park

We wanted to like this place. The location is ideal right next to the beach and Morro Rock. The sound of the surf was great. The restrooms and laundry were clean. But there were a couple of turn-​offs. First is the proximity (as in right next to) to the Morro Bay sewage treatment plant. This adds a certain, shall we say, bouquet, to the environment which is pretty tough to escape when the wind is blowing the wrong direction. We also found the back-​in spaces arranged around a cul-​de-​sac quite difficult to maneuver, especially after dark. If you’re staying here, be sure to ask for a pull-​through.

Decent for the money. Friendly and not overboard with rules. Proximity to town, the beach, the rock are all good. Nice bathrooms, showers, laundry. Kept clean and maintained. Monthly rate is damn reasonable.

This is a very nice park to take your new Airstream to. :) Full Hookups, general store and the staff is very helpful. Full showers if you don’t want to use your own, nice laundry facilities and the best part is that it is right across the street from the Morro Bay Rock and Beach where you can take your dog for a long walk! Minutes from the little downtown shopping and dining area which is always nice if you like Ostyers, Crab and a Cold Beer!

Love this place, after twenty-​five years of camping here still planning many return trips. Easy drive to wine country, walk to town and beach.

We stayed for the first time Saturday night. Very clean bathrooms, staff very courteous, clean park. Across the street from the beach. We will definitely be back!

Proximity is the operative word here. The park is very close to the beach; a short walk across the dunes and you’re on the beach. It is also close to downtown Morro Bay; an extended walk of about 15 minutes or a very short drive. The park is also very close to the city sewer plant and the aroma often wafts across the park.
The staff is very friendly and quite helpful. There is a small store on site with ice, soft drinks, snacks, some trailer supplies etc.
While the inner park roads are paved, the sites are sand and relatively level. The sites however are pretty tight and don’t leave a lot of room for parking a trailer and a pickup together. When doing so, there is little recreational space left over. The sites are also quite close together so if your neighbors are outside or speaking loudly inside their RV, you will hear them. You will also smell the smoke from their barbecues and/​or fire pits which sometimes get sucked into your RV’s ventilation system. Unfortunately, many parks like this are more interested in quantity than quality; a few less spaces might make the place a bit more enjoyable.
All spaces are full hookup with power, water, sewer, cable TV and so-​so wifi (very slow). Overall the park is kept quite clean with full bathroom/​shower/​laundry facilities throughout.
Would I come back? If I had to return to Morro Bay as there are few other facilities for RV’s in the area. Its not bad but not a luxury RV park.

My family has stayed here for about the 6^th year in a row and we love it. Clean bathrooms, nice laundry area, close to beach and beautiful view of the rock. We had a pull-​through spot this year and prefer that over the cul-​de-​sac spots because we have more room.
Wi-​fi was weak in our spot at the furthest south location but the newly upgraded dog area was welcome. We are avid bicyclers and we joyed to hear a new bike bridge and path we completed linking the road next to the RV park to the marina! We used it daily instead of crossing the mud at creek bottom in previous years.
Only issue we had was when group BBQ area right behind us was vacated promptly at the 9pm posted time, but some loud beer drinking teens woke us up about 10:30 in the BBQ shelter. However after I explained to them they we too loud, they quietly left and we enjoyed the gear sleep that we are used to at Morro Dunes.
We’ll be back for a longer stay next year.

Only one issue. The Wifi is weak. Won’t even open some websites and I’m in a tent site close to the office. I was in a tent site a little farther from the office and could not get internet at all. I have cricket/​Android gf has att/​apple. Both experienced bad service. Only reason short of a 5 Star.

Stayed here Sunday night, the first stop for our family RV trip from San Diego to Portland, with two babies and two small dogs. The campground was clean and decently maintained. The staff were awesome, prompt and polite when responding to emails. Arrived after hours but they had a note for us on the door. Our site had a little ocean view, which was lovely. My 1.5 year old loved walking to the beach and looking at all the birds, plants, shells, etc. Got some amazing pics of my daughter on the beach at sunset. Definitely planning to stay again on the return trip home.

Beautiful views of the Morro bay rock, walk across the street and you are on the beach (dog friendly). A few minutes into town and you are at the boardwalk. Spaces with full hookups, fire pit & tables. Pull throughs have a little fence on either side for more privacy. Not a huge space, but plenty of room for your yard with the picnic table in it. Very pet friendly. One of the few parks along the coast that we stayed with a fully fenced pet run so big & small guys can stretch their legs off the leash. Fairly well stocked store. Very friendly staff, and we didn’t smell anything but the ocean breeze. We will return.

Stayed for 2 nights. Had an amazing time… the staff in office was exceptional at answering my questions over the phone (called multiple times)… First time there and WOULD come back again. bathroom cleaned… sink for dishes… space… close too beach. and fire pit. THANK YOU!

We love this place. It’s clean, it’s friendly, the bathrooms and laundry are clean and well located, it’s level and it’s right next to the channel so we can easily walk to the beach. During the day there is usually someone here to help with any trailer troubles.
Right now I’m sitting outside enjoying the ocean breeze and enjoying Morro Rock. We stayed here several time and never had a problem with the treatment plant nor a problem with getting to the beach. Lots of locals walk the beach here and we have always been able to cross the inland channel to talk our beach walk.

NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE! I live local and I have stopped in a few times to make reservations for my family to come into town to visit. This was the last straw. This is rudest group of old ladies I have ever came across. I simply asked for the availablility of my families travel dates and the lady was so aggressive she was spitting on me. I cant believe they are still open except that the place is beautiful. I simply walked away however I should have had the lady arrested for assault by spitting on me. I stopped at Morro Strand RV and the woman was literally the sweetest and so accomidating and kind and worked it out right away.

Best place to stay in the area! Right on the beach, right near Morro Rock. I tent camp here for $ 30/​night on a weekend. The restrooms are great! Multiple showers with warm water, clean, restrooms well stocked. The tents each have a water faucet, an electrical output, picnic table, and a fire pit. There is a nicely done fence between each camp site to give it more privacy. It’s nice and quiet at night. I’ve also stayed in the RV sites, very nice. The front row on the beach are the best ones, and that face the Rock.

Bad customer service !!! Very RUDE !!! They can’t answer basic questions & not helpful at all .
They need to be a bit more courteous …

Great RV park just across the road from the beach and in full view of and in walking distance to Morro Rock, shopping, dining, and the pier. Not a whole lot to add to what other reviewers have already said, except this. The only down side here is that a sewage treatment plant is like a neighbor on the back side of the block. Fortunately, for most of the three or four nights we stayed, there were no noticeable odors. Love those offshore breezes blowing inland!
The park also offers rv storage in back. While we were there, we saw several trailers being moved out to a camp site. Showers and laundry room were dated but clean and well maintained. They regularly pick up trash and sweep away the loose sand in the campsite loops.
There was little night traffic along the Embarcadero fence. Ask for a site right up against the fence so you can have an unobstructed view from your rig’s doorway of the sand dunes and maybe the ocean.

Love this place. Great front office staff. They were extremely helpful to us first timers. Our large pull through site was cleaned and groomed when we got there. Lots of activity, nice people, quiet neighbors. Amazing views of the rock, by the beach, no alarms and no surprises. We loved it!

Our favorite place to camp. Friendly staff, very clean park, close to all things fun, and no riff raff to ruin your stay!
Coming back in December for a month!

Stayed here for 2 nights in May 2014 having spent several nights here back in 2003. Had a nice pull thru site with ample space to park my toad. Strong 50 amp service, very reliable wifi, and was able to get my Dish satellite linked to watch TV easily. Weather was beautiful, though unusually warm, and the beach is a short walk across the sand from the park. It is always fun to watch a bunch of sea otters playing and diving in harbor near Morro Rock. We have stayed at most of the RV parks in Morro Bay, and this one is the most convenient and the closest to the sand and water. The Embarcadero address is a little misleading since the park is actually at the end of Atascadero Rd off Hwy 1.
My one complaint has to do with the dust, dirt and grit that comes from the coarse grey sand they spread over each paved site. Don’t know why they do that. It was very difficult to keep out of the coach. But, proximity to beautiful Morro Bay does make up it.
