Bayfront Inn

Beware of the extra charges when bringing children. They charged me $ 30 extra ($ 15 per night) for my 5 year old. When I booked the room through
, they only asked how many adults (not about kids). Third party booking engines should accurately reflect the hotel’s policies so not to mislead customers.
The extra charge was not only misleading but it was handled in an unprofessional manner. Upon check in, instead of a warm welcome, they front desk saw my kids and without explanation asked us to wait outside while the front desk staff called the owner to tell them about the children. Instead of a warm welcome, we felt like we sitting outside the principals office waiting to be reprimanded! When we were finally spoken to, I asked if there was a problem with kids at the hotel because I was confused and felt extremely uncomfortable. The front desk staff told us that kids are allowed, but would have to charge «extra» for the 5 year old (the hotel only allowed 2 adults per room — and we were a party of 3, one adult and 2 children). I was not happy about the extra charge, nor how it was handled.
I asked to talk to the owner about this, but she never came to our room and I was never able to reach her to let her know about my dissatisfaction.
The rooms are also very noisy where you can hear people talking (and doing other things you dont want to hear) from the next room.
Despite the great location, I wont stay here again. I also would not recommend this to any families with children. We got a «cold» feeling regarding my kids from the staff (upon arrival), which is terrible for any hotel!!!

Super cute little hotel, the rooms are small but perfect for two people and a dog. They put a cute bag together for our fur baby as well which was a great touch. I would recommend requesting an upstairs room if you’re a light sleeper, as having people above you can get noisy. Our bed was super comfy but a bit squeaky. They do a great job of keeping it clean and tidy and throw in some nice freebies. Definitely would stay here again, just upstairs next time.

Loved this place and will come here again! Awesome location unique and vibrant décor. European style is a good way of describing this great place: smaller, VERY CLEAN, you can tell the owners put a lot of effort into ensuring a great stay. French bakery next door is a favorite of mine. Amazing location to walk around Morro Bay.
I also have to recommend Top Dog Coffee Bar as the best coffee in town!

I love this little motel! Clean, friendly, convenient location and flanked by 2 good casual locally-​owned restaurants. Great view of the Rock and within easy walking distance, as was the beach. The décor inside and out is beach chic meets quirky meets funky meets artsy. I guess that means eclectic and interesting. It’s not fancy or hip or trendy — just a good solid affordable place to stay in Morro Bay. We will be back.

What a wonderful stay. We brought our two small pups and the inn was very acceptable and pet friendly. They provided a goodie bag for our pups! The only downside we had a loud neighbor, but hey this can happen anywhere. All together it was a great place!

I definitely am a big fan of this motel. I stumbled upon a deal on living social which includes 2 weekend nights plus I can bring my own pet! I’ve just visited Morro Bay this past weekend and it was one of those amazing getaway, Bayfront Inn deserves the most credit.
I actually didn’t research about Morro Bay about a week before my visit. The main reason the deal attracted me is because the motel is pet friendly, and I want to bring my dog for a weekend getaway. We arrived at the Inn on Friday around 4pm. The staff knows the visitors by name, they immediately know which 2 rooms I reserved by my first name. They carefully went over all the goodies (there are a lot of goodies!) We were eager to check out the rooms and we were already very content. They went over and beyond for being «pet-​friendly». The staff put a pet-​goodie bag on the bed. Inside, there is a blanket, a toy, 2 treats, a few poop bags which you can get more at front desk. It doesn’t end there, they put 2 bowls in the bathroom (water and food), also dog food (organic rice) in the refrigerator. The other hotel/​motel doesn’t have any of these bonuses!
There are many goodies for us too
1) 2 coupon for the full fish and chip meal at Giovanni, and I am glad we went because it’s better than Tognazzini. I will write a review for those 2 restaurants

3) 2 fresh baked cinnamon bun every morning and Frankie and Lola, also one of the best brunch place we’ve been to, I will write a review on that too.

7) pretty intensive line up of TV channels, but i recommend you spend the day outside to enjoy the view!
The patio in this motel is amazing, they line up chairs facing the morro rock, we sat there to watch the sun set, after I made a cup of coffee from the in-​room keurig machine
More about the inn:
The inn is situated at the corner of beach street and embacadero, It’s very close to the morro rock, took us about 30 minutes to reach the rock by walking. It’s located at the less noisy/​crowded side of embcadero, where all the other inns and restaurants are.
However, we found out Frankie and Lola is very famous in morro bay and we are glad that we stayed right next to it! There is free wifi, but again, go outside!
Each room is actually different, compare to the other motels, they don’t categorize their room by only bed size. You can view all the room pictures and descriptions from their website. The following review is base on room #4 because that’s the one I stayed in.
1) It’s located downstairs, it goes give a glimpse of the morro rock from the window. The window also faces the front entrance and the courtyard. It could get a little bit noisy when people go to the galley for breakfast, or entering the gate during after-​hour.
2) The room is pet-​friendly, the rug seems to be newly put in. They also used pet-​friendly cleaner in this room
3) Since it is downstairs, you might hear more noise such as walking from upstairs, flushing toilets.
4) If you have a noisy neighbor in room 5, you will hear that. Luck for us they were quiet during the motel’s quiet hour.
5) The room is located right next to the galley, where they serve breakfast, drinks, microwave, and a wall of local tourist brochures. That also means it’s very convenient for us!
Overall we enjoyed the stay at Bayfront Inn very much, it was a nice relaxing weekend which we glad to spend at Morro Bay. We drove past many other inns and they don’t have as such nice view of the morro rock, the goodies, and probably not as priced competitive as bayfront inn too!

This place was just lovely, an absolute gem. Have never had a better experience at a hotel! The staff was too kind, they even give free coupons for fish and chips and cinnamon rolls from local restaurants near by!

This is a pet-​friendly, well-​restored, 21^st century Bohemian kind of place reflecting the ideals and tastes of the owners. By taking advantage of the Unilocal*Day 2 @ 25% off deal we got reasonable lodging at Embarcadero-​level Morro Bay, with the rock, bay, fleet and local business in sight out our second floor window.
A tourist can fly a tight circle here and have most needs fully filled. Restaurants, waterfront, day spa, bakery, kite and surry store and a snall patio and deck loaded with chairs and tables are near. Bring beverages, and relaxing happiness is possible. I chose to read my first book of choice in two years, mostly abandoning the smartphone and laptop.
Room size is mostly couples-​oriented in this mid 20^th century sized beach venue. I spent the fancy hotel money on nice adornment for Sweet D, so this place was excellent.
Muscular local business promotion gave us chits for free cinnamon rolls at Frankie and Lola’s, which we slept through and free fish and chips dockside. A small dish of local salt water taffy, plus water and juice in the fridge were in our room. A nice flat panel with satellite reception provided TV. The mattress was a bit soft, but fitted out with the perfect amont of bedding. No cold midnight toes here.
Would we return here? High probability.

Quirky, whimsical & kitschy… spot on! This is not a «4 or 5 star» hotel in the popular sense but is a 5 star experience for its pet friendliness, location & charm. The welcome package with people and doggie treats really made us smile. The complimentary cinnamon rolls from the next door restaurant were very good. The complimentary coupon for Giovanni’s Seafood (a block away) was even better. Overall a wonderful weekend adventure with our pups. We highly recommend and will be back!

Clean, cute, quirky bay motel, exactly as described. The rooms are small but have everything we needed plus friendly touches like extra bottles of water and welcome snacks. The bed was comfortable and even with window closed the overhead fan and box fan kept us perfectly cool.
In the morning, you get free cinnamon rolls from the café next door. Don’t skip them. They’re big and fluffy and delicious.
Great, charming place to stay when visiting Morro Bay.

I’d give them 4.5 stars, but rounding down because this spot may not be for everyone. It was perfect for a night’s stop during a coastal Californian drive — affordable, right by the bay, walking distance to a selection of restaurants/​bars, came with breakfast in the morning, and local salt water taffy in the room! Oh, and the bed was very comfortable too.
Fortunately, the temperature drops in the evening so we were able to have the door and/​or window open with the fan on to cool down, as there is no A/​C.
It’s a cute and charming spot that’s great for a night or two when passing through Morro Bay.

The Bayfront Inn has a great location, wonderful front desk staff and whimsically designed small rooms. It’s also affordably priced. That’s the good news. The bad news: the rooms get really hot in the summer heat, the walls are so thin you can hear your neighbor using the bathroom, and there are flies around all the rooms near the galley, especially room 16 above it. Which of course was our room. We had to walk through a black cloud of them every time we entered and exited the room, even at night. I wanted to open my door to cool the room down; not an option. Also, absolutely no maid service in the three days we stayed there, no bed made or trash pick up in the rooms or replenishing of coffee etc. but a nice envelope provided to give «Maria» a tip for her hard work. So, if you’re looking for an affordable motel with a view of the rock, but are spending most of the time away from the motel, you’d be OK here. Otherwise, I’d spend a little more and go elsewhere.

First off, when I checked in the front desk clerk gave me the bill and expected payment immediately. No problem however I had to walk into his tiny office to give him my credit card vs him getting out of his chair to get my card. He was clear that quiet time is 10pm. Again, no problem as I can respect that, however my son and I were having a great time playing around. Our front door was open to get the cool air in because the rooms are HOT! We get a loud abrupt knock and the night shift lady yells at us at 915pm and says «keep it quiet, we have other guests» and slammed the door shut!
They say free breakfast but that means a piece of toast.
Will I come back? Uh No! They are flat out RUDE! They know people will stay here and apparently don’t care about what people think.
Over priced for a closet size room!

Right across from Morro bay, within walk distance of many shops and food places, the rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. There is no air conditioning, but I think here it is not an issue most of the time. And the lady at the front desk had a wonderful personality.

The reception office smells like mildew and wet dog. The room was nice but small with a popcorn ceiling. You can hear noise from the other rooms. They gave us some cinnamon buns and were very helpful with instructions.
But it is definitely not worth the price. I would stay somewhere else next time.

Had a marvelous stay at the Bayfront Inn. The room was immaculate, bed was very comfortable. Refrigerator in the room, with lots of snacks and free continental breakfast. Had a great view of the bay and sunset was spectacular! Plenty of shops within walking distance. I would highly recommend this inn and definitely would stay here again on my next visit.

Stayed at Bayfront Inn for two nights and loved it! The owner, manager are very friendly and warmly welcome pets. We took our doggie, Oly and she had a welcome treat bag waiting for her in the room. She loved the blankie.
The room was small, but very clean. The bed was really comfortable. The windows/​walls are pretty thin, so if there is a crying baby in the next room, you hear it loudly.
At check-​in you get cards for free Cinnabon and fish&chips. The location is great, walking distance to good restaurants and the bayfront.
We loved the place and would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed here a couple of times and each time has been awesome! We really appreciate the managers watchful eye in keeping the noise down or keeping strangers out from the property. They really appreciate their guest and want them to be relaxed. This place is quiet and peaceful, just the way we like it. I agree with the owners that this place is not well suited for families with children. Even though they allow pets we have never heard any dogs barking, again the managers watchfulness keeps this place tranquil.
The rooms are on the smaller side and very clean. Cozy. We have been impressed how clean our rooms have been on our visits. Beds are super comfy! We usually book the queen bed room. Rooms are equipped with small Kuerig coffee makers, with a few k cups. Some small snacks and candies. Bathrooms are small but clean and have free shampoo and soap amenities. Towels are decent. The TV and channel selection was good. We had a 36″ tv mounted on the wall on our last visit, the first tv was small but no biggie. And best of all its right across from great restaurants and a short walk to the beach. Overall very nice quiet place at a decent price. They do have a Unilocal check in discount! And they will email you their current specials regularly.

Loved staying here and will definitely be back soon! The rooms are very clean with snacks, water, juice and a Keurig. Complimentary cinnamon rolls (huge, by the way) every morning, Fish and Chips down the street and 2 passes for wine tasting made our stay even more wonderful. It’s true the rooms aren’t huge, but I would rather have a small impeccably clean room than a large sorta clean room. All in all it was great!

Pluses: Super clean room. Free, yummy cinnamon rolls in morning, plus a card for free fish-​and-​chips down the street. Great view from room.
Negative: Super small room. Probably 12 X 15. Seriously. I have mild claustrophobia, but window opens, so I survived two nights.
