Ramada Morgantown Hotel & Conference Center

My bad. I should have checked Unilocal first. This hotel is a bad deal at any price and Ramada should reconsider allowing their name on it.
I won’t repeat all of the accurate comments on the low quality of the facilities. I want to fill you in on the management. Once I got to Fairmont, a local resident warned me that the hotel is known as a place where local youth rent rooms to party and do drugs. Yeah, I discovered the truth in that. Last night was infuriating. The entire hallway reeked of weed. Kids yelling and fighting and slamming doors through the wee hours of the night. Some local trash in the hallway yelling about getting f*cked on the hood of her car. We called the front desk, but the employee did nothing.
Today, I asked to speak to the manager, but was informed that the manager does not come in on the weekends, when the hotel has most of its business.

This place is the Donald Trump of hotel rooms. Looks good on the outside, but is basically a horrible combover that smells funny. It is too disgusting for people who steal kidneys for a living. Keep driving. Trump 2016.

I don’t think this hotel deserves the poor reviews that are posted. Yes its older, its not fancy, but it is clean and certainly adequate. The outside looks a little strange, a brick building with small, paned windows. It has a very institutional appearance from the outside. Lobby was spacious and clean. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. In the room, the carpet and furnishings are not brand new, but they definitely are not old or in disrepair. Bed, sheets, towels are clean. Someone posted about no closet — there is no closet with a door that closes, but there is an alcove with a place to hang clothes, which is not unusual for a hotel. There is a dresser with three large drawers as well. Someone said no mirror — there is one. There is a desk and a refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom is small, but not unusually so. This is a nonsmoking room, and I don’t notice any unpleasant odor. The room smells clean. Air conditioner is working fine, and actually much quieter than air conditioners Ive encountered in other hotels, which can be very noisy cycling in and out of cooling.
There were also poor reviews of the free breakfast. I disagree with these also. The buffet included: scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuts and sausage gravy, pancakes, waffles, french toast, (these items did not appear to be fresh, seemed to be the frozen variety, but were still good), a variety of pastries, bagels, bread for toast, cold cereal, and packages of instant oatmeal with toppings provided, juice and coffee. The food was all good. Not a gourmet or fine dining, but good food for an average buffet. And its free! I really don’t understand the complaints.
Overall this was a good experience. The building is clearly old, but nothing was in disrepair, and it was clean, and food was good. I give it 4 stars not because it meets luxury standards, but because it meets my expectations of a hotel of this type and price range. I give it 4 instead of 5 only because of things not being newer.
Overall this hotel absolutely met my expectations and I would stay here again.

This Review is for the bar The Wit’s End located in the Ramada. The beer selection was really good. They had some local beers on tap! We stopped by to listen to music and this review is for the late night menu. They have a full restaurant next door but we got there too late. I also really wanted to go because I heard a rumor that the chef from the now closed Richwood Grill was shaking things up. Well it has to be wrong because I ate once at the Richwood Grill and The Wit’s End reminded me of cafeteria food. We ordered onion rings, artichoke dip, nachos and wings. There had to be something wrong with the rings and were kind of gross. Artichoke dip was very tasty with nice pita for dipping but it was just too rich to eat much of it. Nachos consisted of corn chips, canned cheese and jalapenos and literally 20 black beans. For $ 8.95 I was really expecting more. We got medium and barbecue wings with ranch because they ran out of celery and the server said the blue cheese was runny. The wings were crispy and medium ones had some kick. The barbecue wings were too sweet for my taste. So I am willing to give it another go but they have to improve the food and at least for beer choices outside of town this seems like a dependable place.

Totally disgusting smell in my room the AC units fill room up with old smell. Shower curtain smells even worse. Room phones don’t work so you can’t call down to complain. They ought to be embarrassed charging over $ 100 a night here.

Stayed for a motorcycle meet and I wish I could go negative stars. First, the laundry, weight room and some ice machines were out of order. The place smelled of cat urine. The rooms have not been updated in probably 30 years. We had ants and the room smelled bad. The free breakfast is probably some of the worst food I have ever eaten. Absolutely disgusting!!!

I was trying to set up a meeting with execs from our company that are flying into Morgantown, WV for an event. I called Ramada Inn. Stephanie answered by saying the usual «thank you for calling, please hold.» Never asked me to hold like most places do. I waited on hold for 2 minutes. Sounded like someone picked up the line and then it was disconnected. I called back. Stephanie said «please hold» without asking again. Instead of holding, I hung up. Sorry you just lost some corporate business.

I stayed here for a conference, and was appalled by the condition of my hotel room.
When I first checked in to a room on the 2^nd floor, I noticed the window was slightly ajar. I shut it all the way and latched it, and noticed that there was no screen in the window, which could potentially be a hazard for children. Not that it bothers me too much since I live in the backwoods, but there were several Asian lady beetles (look like ladybugs) crawling on the curtains, and a few dead ones under the window. A little chilly, I went to turn on the heater, but quickly shut it off when the metal fan started clanging inside of the unit, shaking the entire thing.
Realizing that the heater was not going to work, I informed the staff, and they moved me to a new room on the 1^st floor with a working heater and no dead lady beetles. Although outdated, this room was much better than the first.
Yes, the internet is dismally slow, so don’t count on it for work. However, I did notice that my wireless internet improved when I moved down to the 1^st floor room, closer to the check-​in desk.
There is also a restaurant downstairs that I ate lunch at. The food was very bland, and needed a good shake (or two+) of salt and pepper.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, but the building needs a major overhaul. According to a poster at the front desk, a renovation is in the works. I’d be interested to see what the place looks like after the renovation. Until then, I’ll keep driving down the interstate to try my luck elsewhere.

If we were living in 1987, this place would be a rock-​solid butt-​kicker.
Alas, we’re more than a decade into the 21^st century. The Ramada hasn’t joned us.
CRT television… Dated and well-​worn décor… The whole place just seems old.
I got the impression that the folks at the Ramada do their best to maintain the place, but it is in need of a big facelift.
The free breakfast buffet is a huge selling point for those who travel with kids. The food? Well, the selection isn’t impressive at all. But it was edible.
We used the pool. Standard rectangular outdoor with no frills. Clean, though.
I got this room for under $ 50 on Priceline or Travelocity… It was more than reasonable at that price. I wouldn’t consider spending full rate on a room here unless I had some inexplicable need to pretend it was 1987.
Oh, for those who put a premium on WiFi access, etc. They have it. It is slow. Seriously. You’d be better off relying on passenger pigeons.

This facility was much larger than I thought it would be, which gave me some hope that though the décor was dated, it would be a good stay. When I walked in my non-​smoking room it REEKED of smoke. I’m not generally sensitive to it but it was so bad, it gave me concern about the cleanliness of the room. The bathtub was visibly stained, probably more from years of use than dirt. The ceiling above the shower had something black growing on it. I was kind of alarmed by this and checked the linens, which were decent, but worn.
The wifi was inconsistent. When I called the front desk to ask about it they said they were having trouble with it too and offered no solution, nor did they say it would be resolved.
The breakfast was fine, but there’s some set amount of food that doesn’t get refilled, so if you come later, none will be there!
I would not stay again.

I stayed here on a business trip in October. Since hotel rooms are so scarce in this area I was unsure about this place according to the reviews. Here is what I found.

–the front desk employees have no idea what the hotel offers or what is in the area. (I asked two employees)
All in all
The owner is just collecting money without putting any money into this place. I did not eat here since i see how the rooms were kept up I can only imagine the kitchen area :(

We stayed here in March and it wasn’t so bad so we decided to stay here again. This time we were on the 1^st floor on the route to the pool. This is also where they put guests with pets. And, directly outside our room’s window, is the picnic table where guests and staff like to smoke. The location of our room was simply abysmal. They had no other rooms to offer us.
In our favor, when one of the dogs staying next door got loud and we complained to the front desk the lady at the front desk, who when I checked in came off as a terribly unfriendly woman, didn’t even have to be told what room it was. And the dog was quiet for the rest of the night.
The most serious problem here was that the internet didn’t work. Don’t bill yourselves as having wireless internet when it can’t actually be used. I ended up trying to get work done on my smartphone, something I really don’t like doing too much.
But the breakfast is still decent, even if we didn’t indulge on this trip and the bar is actually kind of nice. The staff was good and so was the bartender!

Do yourselves a favor and skip this hotel.
1. Our phone reservation was made on the wrong night so when we arrived they had no reservation and no rooms. Finally, they found a «suite» instead of the two rooms I had reserved, so I got the sofa while the couple I was traveling with got the room.
2. The room’s carpet was gross. I don’t think they have been cleaned in years. The room smelled of smoke, so if you are a non smoker, make sure you ask for non smoking unless you like sleeping in a room that smells like a dirty ashtray
3. The shower doesn’t have a temperature control so periodically, the water turns either freezing cold or boiling hot.
4. What high speed Internet? It was so slow I finally just gave up.
5. The whole hotel has funky, old place, not really clean smell to it. It is just kind of creepy… kind of «the Shinning» meets «Deliverance» feeling.

All guest rooms are supposed to have high speed wireless internet. Lies! Dial up would be faster and more reliable. Not only is it. incredibly slow, but it kept cutting out on me basically making it unusable.
As we were checking out, someone got on the elevator with a PIG. A real live pig. I was in shock. If this does not tell you what a classy hotel this is, I don’t know what will.

I am from WV and find that most of the hotels are somewhat adequate. EXCEPT THIS ONE. Too bad I did not bother to check out any review before I arrived, as I might have saved myself a bit of grief.
I worked until 4pm at the office the day before, left and got my hair cut so I did not look like sasquatch at the conference, and departed the Central PA area for Mo’town at 6ish. I arrived at 8:30pm and checked in. The hotel is old, and on the top of a hill. Signs are partially burnt out, and the lot is not well kept. I walked in, and the staff was friendly enough, barely. I went to my room, and as I left the area where the front desk was and left the area that had the benefit of the fresh air from the door… I discovered an odor. A BAD odor. A pervasive odor. It is definitely a mold/​musty smell. Fabulous… I am really allergic to mold. My eyes start itching, my throat starts feeling scratchy, and my nose starts running. WHAT A SEXY LOOK! So I go to my room and I realize that I am in a hotel that allows pets, and in the room next to me is a wiener dog name Raven. And Raven is a barker. And the walls are paper thin. Lucky me! As I take in my room I note the following:
The room was last redecorated in approx. 1989
Nasty, scratchy polyester comforter with A WET SPOT ON IT!!!
Stained, fraying carpet
Peeling wall paper with several significant wall gouges
The entry light does not work
Neither does two of the lamps
The lamp shades are FILTHY
So is the TV screen, the window ledge and the desk
The chairs are stained
The door has a CHAIN and is FILTHY
There is NO CLOSET
There is no full length mirror
No desk chair for the desk
The inside of the drawers have sticky stuff in them
The lamp that does work has brown shmutz all over it that I am not speculating WHAT that is…
There is some type of effed up ironing board/​iron hanging thing on the wall that has rough wire edges sticking out
I did not have dinner at that point because I was so late in leaving, and wanted to get to Morgantown before night fell. Meeting Bambi or his extended family for an automotive waltz was not on my agenda. I simply put my suitcase inside the door and went to the restaurant in the hotel (it is on a hill in BFE with nothing really around it …) and I was told the restaurant would be open later than its 9pm posted closing time since the hotel was so busy. It was 8:45. NOT. I had to go to the bar. So let me paint this picture for you shall I?
I walk in and there are approximately 8 men at the really dark bar. And looking really, really unhappy with life and/​or drunk. Two are wearing sun glasses. And other than the wait staff, I am the only female. A DJ is getting ready to fire up the karaōke portion of the night, and plays music worthy of a porno. I ordered and am told that I cannot take my meal to my room, room service hours ended at 9pm. I order a wrap and wolf it down .
I go back to my room. The hallway is as filthy and miserable as the rest of the hotel. Fab. I go into the bathroom, which luckily for me, was renovated sometime in the last few-​to-​ten years. Things go from bad to worse…

The toilet paper is rough, tough, and I am sure it would not take any crap off anyone…
There is a phone on the wall next to the toilet. With a speakerphone and data port option. Now why, why, WHY would you EVER need a phone in the bathroom? There is NO conversation that cannot wait until business is complete. EVER. Or maybe surf the web? WTH!!!
The towels are dingy, stained, and thin… reminiscent of my grandmother’s 15 year old towels. No Egyptian cotton here.
Something that looks like a biological (blood?) is dried on the wall.
I go to bed and try to read. The sheets are scratchy and stiff, and did I mention the ROOM STINKS like piss and mold? Yeah. Nice. Also, the HVAC sounds like a Cummings Diesel idling, and has two temperature levels. Freezing and sweltering.
I fall asleep out of pure exhaustion. I awake and go to take a shower. The shower is simply FOUL. Mildew and not cleaned well. I dry off with the nasty towels, and wrap one around myself. When I take it off, there is a LONG (like 8 inch) red hair on my chest. The longest longest hair I have is MAYBE an inch to an inch and a half. I wear my hair very short. And it is DARK BROWN.
Before I leave for dinner I return to my room. I threw my towels on the floor because I want a clean one each time. It is what I do at home, and it is what I am doing here. Or so I thought. The hand towel I tossed down was put back as a clean towel. How do I know this? A– It is wet and and B– it has my lipstick stain on the corner.
I think you get the idea. A truly DREADFUL experience.

Ok so funny thing. I grew up in Morgantown, and this place has been around for as long as I can remember. I lived not even 4 miles from this place, passing it every day on my way to school and work. Every now and then I would sneak up there and go swimming to avoid the crowds at the public pools. My sophomore year in high school, I attend a semi formal dance there. Other than that, I never had the need to stay here, until this year. I went back home for vacation, and needed to get a hotel room for just one night, otherwise we were staying with friends and family. I chose Ramada, knowing that there were several newer and «better» hotels, but something called out and told me to choose Ramada instead. SO GLAD I DID!!! The customer service was amazing. We didn’t have reservations, yet they were more than happy to accommodate us, even giving us a AAA discount (even though we don’t have AAA… lol!). There is also a complimentary buffet breakfast that is nothing short of amazing. I’m not talking donuts and cereal. They had fresh fruit, waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, and more. Our room was super clean, and the Jacuzzi was more than large enough for my husband and I (who aren’t exactly small people. lol). I was disappointed that we were only staying for the one night. Next time I visit back home, I will be making reservations to stay the entire week… my friends and family will have to share me with the Ramada Inn. :)
