Pump It Up

First, this is my second review and first negative.
I thought several times as this is negative but decided to post.
My wife’s experience;
I haven’t been there myself but my wife been there several times for birth day party and open play. She went there to make a birthday party reservation. There was one person waiting in front of her for paperworks and she asked paper so that she could finish it beforehand.
Owner, (named Larry probably) said to my wife wait. She planned to do open play (specific time slot) after party reservation and thinking to save time for paperworks. So she asked again for the paper for birthday party reservation. He told my wife to wait and said ‘you are rude’.
She couldn’t understand why she was told like that in front of other people and felt embarrassed. She didn’t start to argue as she was scared a bit at that point and my 2 year old son wanted to go inside. So, she just did open play and called me to explain the situation asking she is doing something wrong.
My direct experience with him is;
I called and asked manage or owner there. Explained what I heard as close as possible and asked that is the way the business or you do to the customers. What he said, I was not there, which is correct, and he added, he does the same way to the customers whatever he got from customers. I tried to say something more but he stopped me saying I have a customer in front of me and hung up.
I think I called there hoping to make a birthday reservation if I can have a reasonable conversation with him.
Before I post this review to Unilocal,I tried to calm down first so this negative review is objective not emotional and talked with my wife again to calm down and think several times whether you did something wrong to the business owner as a customer. (usually we don’t need to think) She said, just asked paper twice and heard «you are rude, I told you to wait twice already» in front of other people there. I told her not to talk with him any more.
My guess is;
My wife looks very very young compared to her age. So, I think he thought my wife needs to be taught in his way as he already told to wait twice.
Decision;
We were lucky enough to have this experience before we spend more than $ 500 there.
Of course, we didn’t make a reservation as we may not be able to satisfy him as a customer or do not want to be treated in that way again.
Of course, we won’t be going there even there is a birthday party invitation from friends and we may have to explain them why we can’t go.

I really hate being lied to! If you are not going to honor your coupons then please do not advertise in the Value Pak mailings. I was told by M. my extra pizza orders were NOT considered ‘Party Extras’ and instead was offered their free picture package. (Bait & switch strategy I guess.). After reading the fine print today in their advertisement it clearly states food & drinks are considered extras! For $ 15 you just lost a customer who planned to have future parties for the younger siblings. And honestly I did not mind paying the $ 455 package. It’s a matter of principle!!! Don’t offer coupons if you don’t honor it. Larry — you were great to talk to, I hope you are aware of this practice. In fairness, I have no other complaints.
⁹⁄₂₉ update: I received a call from management the very next day. Thank you Larry for clarifying the misunderstanding and owning up to the mistake and offering amends to your customer base. I’m happy to hear staff members will be trained properly going forward on the coupon policy. It’s good to know management cares about their customer base. We will come back!

I recently checked out Pump it up with a friend who has been taking her son. My almost 3 year old daughter loved it!
Only $ 8 to jump for an hour and a half, during the M-​W-​F jump for 1 – 6 year olds. It’s quite a bit of exercise for your kids. In addition to the inflatables there are play cars, and they have a giant bubble machine!
I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the place, it’s immaculate and my friend told me the owner told her they clean the equipment on a regular basis. Just a great, fun place for kids. Parents can jump/​climb with kids too, just remember to wear socks! You must wear socks on inflatables. We will be back!

We just hosted our first party here. Even though we live on San Jose we decided to make the drive to Morgan Hill because of their low price packages.
Since we had never hosted a party here before we decided to drop in during the week to get more info. To our surprise, the owner (Larry) gave us a tour of the rooms and answered all of our questions. Everything was clean and well maintained.
We got the classic 25 with Glow package. I also ordered Snapshot. The party was on a Monday from 6:30 — 8:30. Traffic wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be thanks to the carpool lane.
A couple of days before the party I called in and ordered the pizzas. I also ordered the garden salad which wasn’t worth the price but we had to get since many of our guests don’t eat pizza. Asside from the kids pizzas I ordered 8 more pizzas for 25 adults (family only) and unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Thankfully we were only in there for 45 minutes and I took a cake.
On the day of the party almost of all our guests arrived on time and there were a few stragglers. We asked the staff to start on time regardless of who was missing. That way the kids that did arrive on time weren’t waiting on them and we weren’t wasting our jumping time.
The jumping time went by fast but it was well worth it. The glow experience helped the adults go in the jumpers without being embarrassed.
The party room was very clean and the staff was very eager to help. My kids and guests had an awesome time and I will definitely pick this place again for a future party.
The only two suggestions that I have is that they buy a new camera and train the staff members to use it. The pictures were blurry and not worth the $ 15 :(. I’m not sure if it was a combination of user error and a bad camera but they were really bad. My Galaxy took better pictures and I was glad that I didn’t relay completely on them to take the pictures… Also, the only male staff member there made a rude comment thinking that no one heard him. Unfortunately I did but thankfully no one else did. Since everyone else was amazing I didn’t make a fuss about it.
So, other than the Snapshot and the rude comment this party was Amazing!

Pay and play, that’s as easy as I can explain it. I’ve had both my monsters bday at different pump it up locations and their all the same friendly assisting employees that take care of the gifts, party favors, cake/​dessert, and photo’s… wait I forgot one; cleaning up!
They asked specifically each their given special day and each one had a blast the scheduling may be the most difficult part although it’s totally doable if not arranged to close to the bonanza fest. Morgan hill has only 1 room vs other locations that have multiple rooms and they have plenty for the lil ones or even us adults who have that inner monster inside.
If you’ve been you know how the playing and eating part goes so, Yea’! The staff here is very assisting and that is always appreciated when trying to socialize with the parents; it takes a huge chunk of the time and allows to enjoy with those who are present. Fun times indeed

We have been to many parties here and even hosted a couple of parties there for out kids. They do a great job of helping the parents throwing the party. The food choices could use improving; the pizza is not great. I would give them 3.5−4 stars based on my experience prior to May 30, 2015.
We were guests of a party on this day. I tend to supervise my kids pretty closely in these types of environments. I was standing outside the bounce house my daughter was playing in. I was talking to another parent and took my eyes of my daughter for 2 seconds. Then, I look up and one of her peers has a partially inflated ball in his hand and is pounding her in the face. Not throwing it at her face a la dodge ball. But using it to punch her in the face. Given the intensity I observed, if the ball had not been there, these would have been closed fist punches & she would have required emergency medical attention; concussion, etc. He was pounding her. Very scary.
I went and told one of the staff because the other parent was not concerned (I know) and they first informed me that I had a beverage in my hand and that was not allowed. They escorted me to the trash can to make sure I threw it away. They were right, I did have a drink and it is against the rules. I admit that. I forgot.
But really, I think the fact that my daughter was getting the you-​know-​what beat out of her would have been more important than the fact that I had a beverage. Again, I admit I should not have and threw it away immediately.
The offending child was given a verbal warning. They did not remove him or attempt to talk to his parents. They brief the kids before going in about safety and what is allowed and isn’t.
Sadly, they did not follow through.
Safety is obviously not such a big concern to them after all.

Overall I think the place is OK for its concept of how to run a party. Full staff and good time for playing for nearly 2 hours. But the price is too high ($ 400 for 25 kids) served with junk food. I understand that they have to make some money. I have been to Legoland, San Diego Zoo, and other kid’s entertainment. They are on the same rip-​off page.
Since I paid for the party, I want my guests enjoy it. It turned out they wouldn’t turn the AC or music on unless you asked for it. I have to give them three stars for not preparing the place well when customers reserve a party.

Today was our first time at Pump It Up and my 20 month old had a blast in their free jump! The staff was very friendly and attentive… the staff member who was hanging out in the arena while we played was interacting with the kids which was nice. Everything is very clean and there is a lot of space for kids to move around. I also like that the free jumps are limited by age so my smaller son isn’t getting bamboozled by 8 year olds.
I noticed some previous reviews said that they had negative interactions with the staff, but everything I experienced was positive and I tend to be picky since I’ve worked in customer service for close to fifteen years. We will definitely be returning for more fun! $ 8 well spent.

I have successfully hosted two parties at Pump it Up in Morgan hill. One for my 10 year old son and this past Sunday for my 2 girls birthday’s. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My kids and all our friends kids had a blast both times. They take care of everything for you. From goodie bags to clean up. They will provide your goodie bags or you can bring your own. I was very happy that they allowed me to have a double birthday party for the same price as a regular party! Its a little pricey for 2 hours to come and go like that, but still well worth the headache and mess of having a party in your home.

We had my sons 8^th birthday here & were very happy with it. Larry the owner was great. He answered my emails quickly, even on the weekend. The employees that worked the party were wonderful with the kids & seemed to really enjoy their jobs. They reminded me of camp counselors. It is very clean & there is lots of floor space in the jumping room. We did the glow party where they turn on black lights & give the kids glow bracelets, which was fantastic! We paid for the photo package & it was well worth it. We are from Hollister but would not hesitate to have another party there. It was much better than the place in Hollister. Overall, I highly recommend Pump It Up for your child’s next party.

Came here for my nephews 4^th Bday & we had a blast! The ‘blacklight’ effect was so neat, but the best part about it was that it was closed to the public, only our family & friends were in the jump room. I loved that as it wasn’t crowded with randoms. The only con I have is that they don’t let you open gifts here — what kind of place doesn’t allow you to open gifts?! Ugh!

We have been having parties here for about three years, twice a year for our sons. Until our last pray this were great. This time we had a party with my son and all his friends from church. We did the glow in the dark party for extra money. The male staff member was calling my kids «special» in derogatory fashion. He was doing this in front of my son who is special needs. Both staff members were lunging balls at my kids. The male staff member pushed my son down and called him «special» again. This was the child having the birthday party. Because we were the last party of the day they let the people from the part before us stay late and cut into our time in the dining room. By the time we got in there it was like here’s the pizza, let’s cut the cake, now get out of here. My son went home with my ex husband and my older son went home to Hollister with his grandparents. My older son told me that night what he was calling him and I thought he misunderstood or was being paranoid. But the next morning at church my younger son told me what he had done to him and what he called him. They had not had contact with each other so I knew this time it was the truth because they both told me that he had called them the exact same thing «special» in a derogatory manner. I immediately called the owner. I didn’t even tell him about being shorted time. He defended them but said he would look into it. When he did and called me back he said that the male staff member said that he never used the word special at all, and that he pushed my son because my son was tackling him. He also said that the staff said our party was the roughest party they had had there. I told him all the parents were there and the grandparents we all watched and the kids were not being especially rough at all. It is a jumping house so it’s physical but they did nothing that was out of the ordinary or breaking the rules. We had seven adults watching. We all saw the staff lunging the balls at the kids. He continued to say he believes his staff that they are youth leaders at there church and deal with kids all the time. In the end I got nowhere. His staff is a liability. That young man is going to hurt someone, and it will be the owners fault because he was warned about his behavior. He said he has cameras but he still defended them. Maybe the recordings convienently disappeared. If you have kids with special needs this place will hurt them emotionally and physically.

Awesome 6^th birthday party!
PROS:
— Your kid will have a blast and that’s what it’s all about.
— You will be greeted with a smile by a friendly staff member when you arrive.
— The staff member will help you unload your car.
— The facility is very clean.
— The staff will play with the kids the entire time so you can actually socialize with other parents. Imagine that!
— Your kid and his/​her guests will be well-​exercised and wiped out when it’s over.
CONS:
— A little bit of a drive from the LG/​West SJ area but honestly not that bad. No traffic and maybe 25 minutes max.
— Their pizza and salad. It’s not good and you can’t bring your own. But, the kids all seemed to love it.
SUMMARY:
A kid birthday party at Pump It Up in Morgan Hill is a really nice change from the planning, prep, clean-​up, stress and COST of throwing a big party at your house or a park. Highly recommended.

Staff was outstanding… The OWNER was very rude… he should have nothing to do with the public… I feel sorry for the staff… I personally tipped and thanked all the kids working. would have given 5 stars if the owner was not working… very sad how he treats his customers. shame on you sir…

Our play group hosted a party here today. We got a good deal since we booked the party last minute.
The service was really good. This location was nice and clean. They have 5 different play stations.
The party room is big. The only problem I had was the kids seating. They have picnic benches instead of kids table and chairs. The benches are difficult to eat from for younger kids.

This place was so cool!
I am a mom who typically throws the huge, over the top party. This time around my little one opted for a party at Pump it up and what a great idea this was.
We arrived, instructions were given, they literally took care of everything. No fuss, no mess. Kids had a great time, the price was reasonable and we didn’t worry a bit.
Put it this way, usually I’m running around before a party making sure every detail is perfect. Yesterday, my daughters and I slept in, went shopping, had lunch and showed up for my 6 year olds party at 6:30. We even ended up going bowling right after, that’s how stress-​free it was!
Great job Pump it up and thank you to your energetic staff!
Btw. the «glow party» effect was a perfect touch, the kids loved it!

I can’t say exactly how long I’ve been coming here, but we have yet to have a bad experience here. We hosted a Christmas party here about 5 years ago instead of trying to buy a Christmas present for every single member of very large and ever growing family. It was a huge success. Everyone had fun with their kids, grand kids, nieces, nephews, and so on. It was a great family bonding experience. Earlier this month my daughter had her 4^th birthday party here. The staff was extremely accommodating, answered every question I had, and were extremely attentive to my daughter and all of her guests. I am also a regular to their open jump hours during the week and I have never had a problem with the staff. The only issue I have EVER experienced was with bigger kids being too rough/​pushy. And then it falls on you and the other parent to keep an eye on your kids, since you are the only one truly responsible. One or two staff members can only do so much.
Overall– the perfect place for an easy to plan, no clean up party. Or just a great place to let a little one run around for an hour and a half.

Open gym for 1.5 hours for $ 8/​kid. Best 16 dollars I’ve spent in a long time. The kids were so tired after that they took 2 hour naps.
The 6 year old had a blast, while the 3 year old was a little overwhelmed. He probably would have done better if one of the adult had remembered socks and went with him. Alas, we did not, and he wasn’t too thrilled on his own. Lesson learned.
The man at the front desk was nice and explained how it all worked — it was our first time here. A friend recommended it on our journey to the south bay. And their website told me the hours available which were fantastic for our schedule!
Maria, the young lady inside, kept everyone moving along and was there in an instant when a little guy couldn’t find his mom. I’m still amazed how Maria managed to have her eyes on everything and everyone the entire time we were there.
Only negative I see is that they have very few «open gym» hours. There were a bunch of kids in the lobby when we left, so I suspect they have a «camp» of sorts during the summer.
Will we go back? Yes, but we’d probably have to make our future schedule fit around the open gym times. And I’d remember socks for myself and an extra pair for each of the kidlets.
Looks like a great place to have a party!

Boy has this place gone downhill :(
Very different service from previous times. The girl hosting our party (Maria) was rude to my guests and husband! Was in a big rush to get in her car and play on her phone. Didn’t have my sons name on the whiteboard where it says happy birthday. I had to set up my own party bags. She blatantly pointed out the spot where I could leave her a tip on the bill. Ya right. After telling my adult guests to put the pizza back when I told them they could eat the leftovers! Rude!!! Doubt I will party here again if she’s still running the show. Bad bad bad.

Attended a Glow in the dark party. Pretty cool! Upon arriving, it was awkward, we didn’t know where to put the presents. Employees didn’t help us out, we had to ask the host. Usually when I’ve attended a party in Sunnyvale or Milpitas, there’s a cart available for gifts. There wasn’t one for this party. The host had to put the gifts in the party room on the floor. Only when the host was leaving the facility; they were allowed to use the cart to load up their car. That could have been handled better.
