Even better, you travel with a world class photographer who shares their talent and expertise with you. Our goal is to offer a unique experience, including staying in local villages and immersing yourself in each region’s culture. The image is the adventure!

History

Established in 2014.

We may be a new businesses but our founders are loaded with experience. Years ago the idea of a photo expedition company traveling to unique places and offering guests a true local perspective came to us. Now it is reality. We launched our website this year and have added renowned photographers such as Ron Haviv, Adriana Zehbrauskas, Moises Saman and Luca Zanetti to our roster. We are currently offering amazing itineraries to Latin America and have journeys to Japan and Spain/​Portugal in the development stage. We plan to be the premier expedition company for those wanting to experience the world, not just visit it.

Business Owner

We have three owners at Hidden Planet Expeditions. Michael Robinson Chávez is a staff photographer at The Los Angeles Times and is a two time winner of the prestigious RFK Journalism Award for photography. Alex Kornhuber is an acclaimed photographer in his native Peru and has been exhibited world wide. Fiorella Lopez de la Castilla is an expert travel planner and has led groups to such demanding locations such as Angel Falls in Venezuela and the Pantanal wilderness of Brazil. Together we decided to start HPE. Alex and Michael first met in 1989 while surfing the long waves of Chicama, Peru and discovered they had a passion for photography and travel. Now, together with the unflappable Fiorella, they have launched HPE to bring the experience of photographic journeys to intrepid travelers who wish to discover some of this planet’s mysterious places.
