Established in 1979.

Julian McPhillips founded the firm in 1979, following his run for Assistant Attorney General, in Montgomery, Alabama. The firm began its history with handling civil rights cases, employment discrimination claims, and criminal defense matters. In the 90’s when additional partners joined the firm, the legal practice expanded to include automobile accidents, wrongful death claims, 18 wheeler accidents, workers compensation claims, social security claims, and breach of contract matters. The firm most commonly referred to as «The People’s Law Firm», strives to help its clients, priding itself on its diversity of its clientele.

Mrs. Strickland serves as officer manager of McPhillips Shinbaum, and has been with the firm since 1996. A graduate of Troy State University, she handles the accounting, bookkeeping, IT, advertising, and over all management of the firm consisting of 7 attorneys and 9 support staff.
