We have eaten at A&P several times, and have always enjoyed it. The chef recently changed, and our experience here has become even better than past visits. The food is excellently prepared and is different than any other location in the city. It offers a great new take on many traditional Southern dishes. The service today was wonderful, and staff is typically extremely helpful and friendly. If you’re looking for an upscale eatery in Montgomery, then try A&P Social.

So good that it makes you speechless and filled with jubilee. This place… ridiculously awesome. The atmosphere is sophisticated but comfortable. The food was full of surprises but didn’t disappoint in quality and taste once… ever. Nothing I ordered disappointed. If you’re not a foodie you might become one here as long as you ride the rollercoaster of amazing concoctions. It was just AMAZING.

Dropping a star because the dinner menu has gotten a little boring with the recent changes. It took a lot of effort and discussion to order anything because nothing sounded that interesting. Gone are the unique«Fried Chicken Skins» and the succulent«Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps» in exchange there is a plain«Black Eyed Pea Hummus» and«Seafood Rillette»(which usually means we had to do something with this leftover fish). I miss the rich Gorgonzola sherry cream sauce that came with the Steak & Frites; instead there is a Filet with mashed potato and a weak smear of demi glacé. The service is still great and this is still a good restaurant but there are a lot of good restaurants in the Gump and with the new turn at A&P it doesn’t really stand out anymore.

The food is decent but not great and surely not worth the price. The cocktails are also decent but not great and not worth the price. The ambiance is nice and the little Old Cloverdale area is nice but you can find better food elsewhere.

You have to be a true foody to appreciate this place. I personally didn’t think it was 4 stars, but I can at least appreciate what they are trying to accomplish. If you want a fu fu meal, this is the place. Service was outstanding.

As another review so eloquently said, this place is classy without being over the top. Beautiful atmosphere, location, and presentation. It makes for a lovely setting for a wonderful dining experience. Our table ordered: — Bacon dates — Cheese platter — Pork chops — Seafood risotto The bacon dates are stuff with sausage I believe, they were wonderful. The cheese platter needed some help. There were only 4 crostini, which did not allow for enough plating of the cheese and relishes. The pork chops stole the show. Never have I seen such a thick pork chop cooked the same all the way through. Every one at the table marveled in this. It will make your grandmother jealous! The flavor was similar to Coq au Vin with a mushroom white wine sauce and braised corn. It was so lovely. I personally ordered the vegetable risotto. I felt the price point was a bit steep for this dish, at $ 26. There were a few shrimp, and it boasted crawfish. I suspect there was crawfish in it, although I can’t be sure. There was only what seemed to be some kind of white meat(possibly fish?). I did not ask. It was very good: flavorful. I would’ve added something crunchy to compliment the soft texture of the risotto. Our waitress was very patient with our wine pairings and questions. She did warn us that it was her first night on the job, but she was very kind and professional. My main complain here, and the reason this review is not getting 5 stars, is the chairs. They are insanely uncomfortable. I found myself squirming the entire night, not being able to get comfortable on the metal seat. Although they do fit with the décor, they don’t make for an enjoyable physical experience here.

In town for work, and this spot popped up on Unilocal as an option. I drove over and was not disappointed. The place is in the Cloverdale area which is pretty nice and it sits next to other small restaurants and shops. I sat at the bar, as is my custom when dining alone, and received great and friendly service. I ordered the Gulf Redfish which came with lentils in a butter sauce. The bartender recommended the Cote de Rhone, even though it breaks the whole«white with fish» thing, and it was a wonderful pairing. The sauce and the lentils made it a heartier dish that paired well with the red. The place was popular and the ambiance was casual but hip. Good music playing overhead. I noticed that the new chef came from Central, which was another recommendation I was given. I didn’t see the chicken skins everyone talked about on the menu, so just know they might not be offered anymore.

We were in town for business and chose this because we saw Wes on Top Chef. We started with the combo board which was amazing. They were out of fried chicken skin and that was disappointing. The hubs had the AP burger and enjoyed it. I ordered the lobster roll which was also not available. I chose the stuffed dates and pimento cheese apps for my dinner. They were average. Overall, the experience was above average but lacking for the price

Love everything about this place from the food to the staff. Menu is constantly changing, which is a welcomed plus in the Montgomery area where variety isn’t always well received. My favorite app is the grilled oysters in the siracha garlic butter sauce. If you’ve never had oysters before, these are a must and will certainly win you over. Fave entrée is impossible to choose. They recently added homemade pasta to the menu and they are all a little piece of culinary heaven. I’ve become a regular and for good reason. Promise you will not be disappointed!

I’ve had great experiences here so far. The Social is classy without being too formal. For dinner the steak and garlic frites were spot on with the steak cooked a perfect rare+. The gorgonzola brandy cream sauce was a perfect accompaniment with the beef. The fried chicken skins with a buttermilk ranch dipping sauce is pretty stupid incredible as well as the lettuce wraps with the pork belly. The servers menu-knowledgable and the bar/staff is tops. Our bartender Tara knew what she was doing and was passionate about good cocktails. I like to occasionally bring wines I know to dinner but the $ 25 corkage fee discourages that. In contrast The Vintage Year, which I would consider in the same class, just a few doors down has a $ 15 corkage fee for your own bottle. Brunch on Sundays offer the epic bottomless mimosa and great menu items. We were very happy with the A&P burger and the Chicken & Waffles we ordered. The chicken had a shatteringly crunchy exterior served with spicy honey and syrup on a waffle slab and the burger was among the best I’ve ever had. The A&P is one of the top choices in the Gump.

The food I ate today was worthy of 1 star, but the outstanding staff and service raises my rating. True’s brunch was my favorite in Montgomery and my parents insisted on eating there whenever they came to town. We won’t be back after today. Honestly, I don’t know where to start with my disappointment. I used to get the shrimp and grits for brunch at True for about $ 16, but A & P charges $ 24 for the dish. With the price hike, I opted for something new. For $ 18, I got one piece of chicken that was served on top of a mushy half-inch«Belgian» waffle. The watermelon on the side was translucent pink and inedible. The bacon served with my mom and dad’s meals was thinner than what you get at Waffle House. I watched a man at another table look like he chipped a tooth as he pulled a half-chewed«smashed potato» out of his mouth and put it in his napkin. The only bright spot of the meal was my mom’s squash soup; that was legitimately delicious. It’s really too bad how disappointing the rest of the food was because the space is beautiful and the waitstaff deserves to be serving food that matches their exceptional service.

Eaten here two times. Food is very good. But, DON’T GOHEREONMONDAYS. Really enjoyed the first time. Went back when driving through Montgomery on a Monday. They have 3 meats & we’re out of 2 of them. Also out of oysters. Not acceptable. Apparently they get restocked on Tuesdays. Translation: Don’t go on Mondays.

I am awarding A&P Social five starts because they were able to do great in presentation, taste, atmosphere and service. When I mean service, my food was personally delivered by the chef himself! The staff were all professional and friendly. I also enjoyed that the staff wore professional clothes, but not the typical ill-fitting uniforms one sees at more upscale restaurants. A&P Social is currently my highest recommended restaurant in Montgomery.

Seemed like a great local place with lots of fresh, locally sourced food. Brian, my server, was delightful. Everyone seemed to know each other and I was made to feel welcome. And the food was excellent. I had the grouper and it was light and flavorful. The white chocolate mousse bar was decadent and not heavy with sliced blueberries that were sweet as can be.

Had a fantastic dinner there last night with my Wife and two of our friends. Service was great and we never felt like we were waiting on anything. Atmosphere was nice and comfortable. Not a large selection of draft beer, but what they had was good. All our meals were excellent. I had the baked red snapper, and it was suuuuuper good. Awesome deserts as well! Will be coming back for sure.

I want to start this review by stating if you ever want to host a dinner for a group of 10 or more, this is the place to go and Bryan Wooden is the guy to call. We had a recent celebration and had what I can only describe as an amazing experience of excellent food and top notch customer service. We tried several appetizers and can spend hours talking about them but will tell you if you do not try the chicken skins, you are missing out. I had the catfish and it was the absolute best I have ever had!!! Not one person in my party described their dish as anything other than absolutely delicious. For desert I had the banana pudding and half my wife’s sundae and truly wish I had space to try the others. I may have to come back to Montgomery from DC just to try the other items on the appetizer and desert menu. I don’t think I can stay away from the catfish.

Best restaurant in Montgomery. Better than Central. Great beer selection, started with a Back Forty Pale Ale. Chicken skins were a new experience but oh so tasty. Really enjoyed them. Very big portion too! You could easily fill up on them. Also had the the cheese/bacon jam on bread, nice. The pork belly lettuce wraps were the real deal. Washed them down with a Monkeynaut IPA. You build them yourself too! Very cool. The dessert was real good as well, an ice cream mixed with porter beer sundae. Perfect finish. Nice atmosphere, great staff, good ambiance. Very cool part of town too. Price was right for the quality of the food. Highest quality food I’ve had in Montgomery.

Very expensive! Not a lot of food for a lot of money, but very very tasty. Hubby had the fried oysters and I had the red snapper on risotto. The cheese/bacon jam appetizer was also very good. Atmosphere was pleasant and service was classy.
