William C Vogelpohl, MD

I had my first appointment with Dr. Vogelpohl today and have nothing but good things to say about him and the practice in general. I was greeted by a smiling, friendly, and professional medical assistant who got my new patient paperwork going very quickly. I was called in a couple of minutes after finishing the paperwork. The doctor was very knowledgeable, took time to listen to my medical history, and asked lots of pertinent questions before advising me of what tests he would complete during this visit. I found his approach very thorough and caring, he put my mind at ease and I was in and out of the office in less than an hour including a pap smear and detailed ultrasound of my ‘lady parts’! It doesn’t get much better than this folks.

I have been going to Dr. V for about 2 years. I have really appreciated that he take the time to actually talk to me instead of rushing in and out between other patients. He and his staff have always been extremely accommodating. They have fit me in immediately if I’m having any trouble and have gone out of their way to get prescriptions filled quickly if I forget to call ahead.
I have been to many doctors since moving to California from the east coast and he is one of the few that actually treats me like an individual!

I have been a patient of Dr. Vogelpohl for over 25 years. He has always been kind, compassionate, caring, and given his full attention for every office visit. It disturbs me to see any negative posts. I have had only positive experiences with the office staff, who are very efficient and caring. Dr. V. delivered my daughter 22 years ago, and I am still very grateful for his concern during, and follow up afterwards.
5 stars are not enough!!!

sometimes I think only negative nellys give reviews, so in an effort to even the score, here is my review:
Dr. Vogelpohl is one of the most popular OB/GYN’s on the peninsula for a reason. His partner, Dr. Keith is very good as well. I have been a patient with Dr V for over 16 years. I have had nothing but compassionate and attentive care from him and his office staff. i have had several emergencies that were handled perfectly, and quickly. Taking the fear out of the situation completely. I have also had years of infertility, and the care with which the Dr. treated my husband and me during very emotional times was very appreciated. I have always appreciated the private consultation in Dr’s office prior to the physical exam. The office staff is discreet, sympathetic and very personable. Most of them have been there longer than I have been a patient.
He is a very good doctor, and a very good man.

I’ve read the reviews for Dr. V’s office, and am so sad everyone has had such difficult experiences there! I myself was recommended to Dr. V by numerous friends whom have had him for many reasons child birth in particular, OB, etc… and was very excited to be able to get into see him given the demand. My experience was great from the first phone conversation, my appointments were flawless, he was kind, gentle, concerned, and most of all compassionate, I am very thankful to have been able to be added to his patient care list, and will continue to see him as needed — even recommend him! Thank you Dr. V & Staff!

I wish I could give no stars. I would rather go to a Dr. Office and pay than have to use my insurance with these people. I spoke to three different women on different occasions and they were all rude, brash, and unprofessional. Each them gave me the run around and asked me to call back and speak to so and so. On the last phone call she said that is not covered you will have to check with the Dr. when you have your appointment. I asked her if she could check with the Dr. prior to me coming in so I would know how much I was looking at and she said he was busy. Should have guessed when there answering machine will not take any messages, and it takes them 10 rings just to answer your call. Why anyone goes here is beyond me.

Dr. Vogelphol was recommended to me by another absolutely wonderful doctor. It was determined I needed surgery and he performed the surgery. After the surgery I was completely debilitated. When I returned to Dr. Vogelpohl to discuss the situation his face fell and I could tell he clearly wasn’t interested and referred me back to my primary care physician. He said over and over again his surgery did not cause the condition. He said he thought I had diabetes. My primary care physician did several test and determined I was anemic and my blood sugar is completely normal. She requested I talk to Dr. Vogelpohl once again so I called his office. He wanted me to come in and this time determined I was still bleeding and treated me to stop the bleeding. I told him both the first and second visit I had blood in my urine. All he would say is it is not my fault. The most frustrating part is he did not seem to know who I was and believed my primary care physician was a different doctor. It took me several times to convince him who my actual primary physician was and who I was. He was very defensive both visits. I will not ever visit Dr. Vogelpohl again.

I did not have a good experience at all with this office. I went there as a prospective new patient, and walked out fuming. My simple question about the insurance– got me a very defensive irritable response from a small brunette behind the front desk. In all the «excitement» I never got her name. When I mildly complained about her attitude to «Shelly» who took her place– I got a weird scolding mother response! Ha! she was short with me as well I left the office promptly… with Shelly gleeing telling me how she was going to «Shred my paperwork». NO WAY– but on the bright side after reading the first review of him (Dr. Vogelpohl) I was grateful this happened– and I would not be going to him Paula Scott

I was referred to go to Dr. Vogelpohl as I did not have a OBGYN and was having some female related issues. So I went and he diagnoised me as having large fibroid tumors. The pain was intense. He gave me pain pill after pain pill. He then put me through menopause so that the fibroid tumors could get smaller and they could operate. I took so many drugs for two years because I couldn’t leave the bed the pain was that intense. During this time, he did not perform or ask that any other tests be given. One would think with the high intensity of pain, he would have further investigated possible other problems, NO… he loved to prescribe pain pills. I called and said set up an appointment to have surgery as I could no longer take the pain. I went to his office and gave him a check, for what I am not sure, but found out latter. The surgery was going to happen within the next few days. The day of the surgery, I was opened up and they found CANCER everywhere in my colon. When I awoke from the surgery, there was Dr. Vogelpohl, handing me back the check… which I thought was so strange at the time but now I know he wanted to get as far away from this circumstance as possible. Dr. Shideler ended up doing the surgery. On day two they found more CANCER in my Pelvic Wall. On day three they found more CANCER in my lymph nodes, On day 4 they found CANCER in my leg. In my opinion, I would stay away from Dr. Vogelpohl for the above obvious reasons. And you know what? This man didn’t even have the decency to follow up with me after all this had happened… it wasn’t a little minor female problem Dr. Vogelpohl, it was Stage IV Colon Cancer.
