This place is amazing. I loved it. We got an ocean view room and was just breathtaking! I will definitely stay there again!

Very nice hotel. Should get 4 Stars.
Too bad the noise from the Blue Fin club 2 blocks away kept us up till 2:00am two out of three nights. Thumping bass sub-​woofer radiating through the fourth floor walls whether the windows were opened or closed. Then the Blue Fin closes, screaming, cussing patrons fighting on Cannery Row, oblivious to the time of day or that other people just may be trying to get some rest.
Monterey’s men in blue trying to deal with the carnage despite the fact that the Noise Ordinance of 2014 obviously has no teeth. One star for the sleep we got Thursday. We will be heading home Sunday exhausted after what was to have been a restful, special weekend.
We feel worst for the honeymoon couple who packed up and left at 1:00am.
There needs to be considerable pain in order for this to be corrected. We will be soliciting opinions from the other guests in the morning. We will make our noise in the daylight while the low life’s sleep.

Just wonderful! Not that I am not thankful for every day life, but the beautiful serenity of an ocean view, fireplace and cozy room is an awesome retreat to get away. Right in the heart of Monterey bay. How fortunate are we

Thank-​you Victor & Co! Once again you name our last minute spontaneous dreams come true. Rolled right into valet, & landed a corner room waterside with a wood burning fireplace. Also, he held onto our bags, made stellar referrals to cocktails & shopping while we waited. The Spindrift is an amazing weekend get away from Sf, & a tradition of tranquility and indulgence for us. Thanku again

AMAZING! Even if you don’t have an ocean view, it’s still awesome. Everything is walking distance and it’s beautiful inside and outside!

I am so obsessed with the Spindrift. My boyfriend and I had the best stay. The fireplace in our room was one of my favorite things about the hotel. It’s so romantic and cozy. The breakfast was on time and yummy. They also have bubble bath salt to toss in your nice warm bath. Not to mention the location and the views. And the roof top garden. Ahh! I can’t wait to go back.

It’s nice, but not 5 stars. Place could use a renovation, and more front desk service. Very old fashioned. Room was spacious and bed was comfy. I wish we had a sea-​facing room — I should have upgraded.

Love this little hotel, very romantic, they deliver a lovely continental breakfast in the morning, and there’s a canopy bed and a beautiful fire place. I love the little alcove where you can sit and look out and another nice thing they offer wine and cheese from 4 – 6 pm. Very sweet and romantic for our honeymoon.

Absolutely stunning boutique hotel! After a long drive up from Anaheim it felt great to walk into such a relaxing and cozy place. Spindrift is right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants in Monterey so you can walk around and explore very easily. Everyone working there was great. They valet parked our car and had us into our room within minutes of our arrival. When we walked back in after dinner we were greeted by the lady at the front desk saying «welcome home» and my husband and I really did feel at home there. Our room had a feather bed, fire place, dimmer switches, and bay windows. Right outside our room we had access to the outside stairs leading up to the rooftop patio where we could sit and look out on the beach.
There was no air conditioning but the ceiling fan did a good job of cooling the room and this was in August which I’m sure is the hottest month. I keep my air conditioner at home set very cold and I was comfortable with the fan on so I doubt the lack of AC would be an issue for anyone. They bring a list of breakfast items you can have brought to the room for free which was very convenient. They have simple things like toast, boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, yogurt, cheese, and granola. It was definitely plenty to eat.
My only regret is that we did not stay longer. I can’t wait to visit again!

My husband surprised me with an ocean view room at this oh so romantic inn and we absolutely loved it. The view is gorgeous and the room is big but cozy. The fireplace and the canopy covered bed covered in blankets and pillows that are filled with feathers was a dream. We both did not want to leave after the breakfast they bring up to your room in the morning which we ate while enjoying our view of the ocean and hearing the waves from the beach right below us. The fireplace is a perfect touch in the evening. The customer service was incredible. Hoping to come back someday soon!

My wife and I came to Monterey for our anniversary, and the hotel was romantic and sweet. The valets were super friendly and energetic. The check-​in was quick and very accommodating. We’ve had nothing but great service while staying here.
Breakfast was delivered as ordered and on time right to the room. The coffee was surprisingly good (I’m a coffee snob).
Most comfortable bed in a hotel ever!
I’ve read other reviews posted here about the loud street noises, but we’ve not had a problem with it at all on the Cannery Row side (granted, it was during the week, but it’s been surprisingly crowded with other events in town for a Monday and Tuesday).
My wife wad thrilled with the hotel and wants to stay here again next time.

Stayed here once for our wedding anniversary about 2 years ago. We stayed in one of the ocean view rooms.
The room was clean and had an aged charm to it. Husband complained the room was a little too pink, but I thought it was homey and cute. There was a large window with a long and comfy window seat that looked out into the ocean. Fire place was well stocked with wood and matches for a romantic fire at night. The bed was fluffy and soft.
Though, you can hear noises from the hallways and upstairs, it was tolerable and didn’t bother us at night.
Complimentary breakfast is provided every morning with the morning paper. Nothing fancy about the breakfast but it’s enough to get the day started.
The hotel is valet parking but we only ended up asking for our car twice: once to go Carmel and second when we were heading home. The hotel sits in the middle of Cannery row making it a simple walk to eateries and shops.
The staff were all nice and always greeting you as you come and go.
All in all, it was a wonderful 2 nights stay here. While my husband thinks they should update the look of the place, I think the place is very charming as it is.

I can’t say enough about the quality of the room and the helpfulness and courteousness of the Staff. My wife and I are celebrating 25 years of marriage by visiting from Virginia and just loved the fact that we found this little oasis in Monterey as part of our trip.
We awoke each morning with a fire in the fireplace, windows open to hear the soothing sounds of the bay, followed by a wonderful continental breakfast delivered to our room. What a magnificent way to start one’s day! Just heavenly!

This is my second visit to this period piece hotel. Charming and incredibly clean describes it perfectly. No there is no pool or hot tub and yes it looks more suited for couples. The guests appear to be more in the late 20s to 50ish bracket so you wont be awakened by late night revelers or small feet running up and down the hall. Amenities include super comfortable beds, wood gas fed fireplaces, patios, complimentary breakfast delivered when you request it and HBO for you Game of Throne fans. Wine and cheese in the afternoon is a nice touch especially as the wine includes interesting choices.
Only downside was an elevator thats slower than the IRS with my refund. The staff is friendly and helpful… Best to valet especially if you are making a lot of trips. I chose street side as the ocean view is not like Pebble Beach … But beware of the 6 am garbage truck pick ups which negate the needfor an alarm clock.

On my first visit to Monterey with extended family, I came across the Spindrift Inn as I was walking along Cannery Row. I was lured by their claim as one of the most romantic hotels in the US by Tripadvisor and should I go back here with the right person I would strongly encourage whoever I was with to stay here with me. Fast forward a year and several months later I’m writing this review with the No1DP next to me on a very comfortable canopy bed with feather bedding eating continental breakfast on a silver tray.
VENUE: Located along Cannery Row, it is a 5 – 10 minutes leisurely walk from the famous aquarium. Valet parking is available (there is no hotel-​specific garage).
Lobby has a fireplace that’s always on. There’s also a book binder that contains the menus for places to eat around the Monterey area. Should you eat at the Fish Hopper or Old Fisherman’s grotto you can ask front desk for a free appetizer card.
ROOM: As you can see from the pictures, one of the most romantic hotel rooms I’ve stayed.
— The bed is a king-​size canopy bed with plush feather bedding. The mattress provided support for a comfortable night’s sleep yet the mattress felt soft. The headrest is cushioned so I could sit down on the bed. The curtains were permanently attached so I couldn’t use them to cover the bed.
— If you get a corner room the windows overlook Monterey Bay. Binoculars are included to do sightseeing. Using the binoculars we were able to see people along the bay as well as people dining at nearby Fish Hopper.
— Fireplace with wood and matches included.
— Two comfortable chairs to watch TV (though you could also watch from the bed).
BATHROOM: Standard, though their bathroom amenities comes from the Aveda line and bath salts are included.
AMENITIES
Silver Tray Continental Breakfast: COMPLIMENTARY for every night you stay. You read that right. You fill out a card that contains the breakfast choices. You can choose from toast/​muffin/​breakfast cake, fresh fruit, yogurt with granola, hard-​boiled eggs, slices of cheese, three types of cereals and your choice of beverage. You also specify the time you want it to be delivered to your room (6−10am), and staff will deliver your breakfast on a silver tray. The place settings are ideal to eat breakfast in bed. I ordered enough items to get me through breakfast.
Happy Hour: 4:30pm to 6pm in the lobby featuring a red and white from local wineries and cheese, crackers and fresh fruit. Fruit wasn’t fresh and wines were decent, though I did appreciate them locally sourcing their bottles.
SERVICE: Staff was very friendly. Shout-​out to the valet attendant who managed to fetch something from my car (cars are parked offsite 2 blocks away).
I’m glad that the No1DP and I were able to spend some quality time at this hotel and I look forward to my next visit here should I return to Monterey. Its location along Cannery Row and the romantic setting make this hotel ideal for a couple’s getaway vacation.

TL;DR: Disappointed with return visit. Location and facilities are still nice, but service wasn’t as on point.
Front desk, the check in girl kept repeating herself; asked us the same questions over and over in short order. Had to remind her 3 times inside of 5 minutes that we would not need the hotel’s assistance with parking.
Came down as part of my birthday celebration, same nice touches were not present even though they had told my girlfriend that they would be in the reservation email. When she did request, they sent a token small box of chocolates 4 – 5 hours later. The front desk personnel didn’t remember our names like last time (which was a really nice touch the first time around), and that was a little disappointing too.
The room itself felt smaller than last time. We were near the side of the building on our last trip, this time closer to the elevator, and our door was sandwiched right next to another room. Perhaps it was my imagination, but it didn’t feel nearly as spacious.
May be back to try and give them another shot, but probably not for a while. Might check somewhere else out instead.

The staff are super nice, the BEST we’ve experienced.
Great location & the breakfast is a nice touch.
I took one star off for the bed. It was one of the worst beds in a hotel room I’ve experienced. The bed was WAY too soft. I like soft beds but you can literally deflated as you lay on it, it offered NO support.
Also note, if you’re on the side facing the street, there is a club across the street & you will hear the music till they close.
