InterContinental The Clement Monterey

Was not a guest but my fiancé and I stepped into the bar here for a drink. First of all the atmosphere is great, very calm and classy. The bartender, Bill, was awesome. I had asked at other bars throughout the day for a White Linen, but he was the only bartender who even knew what I was talking about (it was made perfectly too). I ordered the steak frites and it was amazing! Everything cooked and seasoned perfectly, wonderful dining experience. We’ll definitely be staying here next time!

I booked an ocean view suite Valentine’s day weekend and I was very pleased! The room is very spacious and has two big restrooms with showers! It has its own living room area and a sofa that turns into a bed. It also has a tub in the master bedroom that you can relax in and enjoy the ocean view. The balcony is breathtaking! I recommend booking an ocean suite! You will not regret it. Service was amazing and they have valet parking and charge 26 dollars for the entire day (you come and go) as you please. Everything is just a walking distance and just so very convenient! I will definitely come here again.

We parked in the Clements parking garage. Outside it said $ 15 8 hours flat rate. Be careful. That means TO ME that you pay a flat rate for 8 hrs not less than 8 hrs. So, if you stay 30 min or you stay under 8 hours, they still charge you $ 15. Ridiculous. Rip off!

I loved this very lovely hotel! It is in the heart of Cannery Row. Perfect location for stepping out of the hotel and taking in your surroundings!
We checked out from a nearby hotel that day and we arrived very early for checking-​in here. I wanted to get situated because we had bought the Aquarium Package and wanted to get to the Monterey Bay Aquarium as soon as we could. So, I went through the check-​in process and was told my room wasn’t ready yet. It was fine. I asked if we could go ahead and get our passes and the clerk went over to the Concierge and got our tickets.
The hotel would text message me when our room was ready. They offered to hold our luggage, but we declined. We got the parking key and my husband parked the car over in the garage which is not attached to the hotel. In fact, it is a street away. Be careful because the key decided to stop working the day we were to check-​out and my husband was carrying some of our stuff to the car in the rain and ended up having to go the long way around.
TIP #1: The cost of parking is $ 25 per day. Makes no difference in rate whether the valet does it for you or if you park your car yourself.
This hotel has rooms on both sides of Cannery Row which has an enclosed bridge walkway. You can take this to walk over and across the street to get to the parking structure, the fitness room & pool as well as those hotel rooms.
We headed over to the Aquarium for a couple of hours and I received the text that my room was ready. A little later, we walked back to the hotel and got situated in our room. There was a celebratory card left for us with a complimentary dessert from the restaurant on the premise. We celebrated our 29^th Wedding Anniversary. That dessert we chose from C Restaurant & Bar was the bomb! The room is luxurious and very welcoming! They place a Sea Otter Plush between your pillows. You can choose to purchase it if you want to take it home, it isn’t included in your room rate! The layout is simple and the room was spacious. Our room had no balcony, but it did have 3 windows which opened up to the street view. That was a really cool feature!
There is an In-​Room Bar stocked in the entire mini-​fridge, leaving no room for personal use. In the closet was a safe and ONE robe which was soooo thick & heavy! The towels were also very thick and plush! The bed was so comfortable as was the comforter that was on it.
There is one staircase leading up to the Banquet Rooms (I think) and it is worth taking a look at! There is a light on the ceiling that looks like a jellyfish and moving lights which give you the effect of the ocean moving. (…

I’ve noticed that the higher the price of the hotel, the less conveniences that are included with your room. No fridge for personal use, microwave, or internet without charge. If it is so expensive to provide these things, I wonder how smaller or less expensive hotel/​motels can afford to offer these for free!
This hotel has a fairly good exercise room. Do not come to this hotel for a pool. The pool is a long strip, more like a lap pool. Seems like the pool was just «fit in» to the property and not a main feature.
TIP #2: If you join IHG Rewards, you will get free internet. ** I didn’t know this until I got home and signed up. They also won’t give you credit for your night’s stays if you weren’t a member before your stay. I got confused and only found a reward program of being an Ambassador for $ 200.00 for the year, and I thought that was the only reward program, so I said, «No way!». Oh well…
Other than for the non-​inclusion of useful things I just mentioned above, this hotel is worth staying in when playing tourist in Monterey! I really enjoyed getting away from every day life for a few days!

This hotel is one of the nicest I’ve stayed in ever! The evening started with an incredibly friendly front desk member who gave us tips on things to do and then helped us bring our luggage upstairs. The room itself was beautiful. It was spacious, very clean, had a view of the ocean, and was decorated in a way that was very calming and peaceful (it even had a miniature zen garden!). The gym was very nice with a variety of free weights, and there C restaurant served a wonderful breakfast.
The location also can’t be beat, as it’s located on Cannery Row, right next to the aquarium. I can’t wait to book my next trip to Monterey, and I’ll be sure to stay at the InterContinental.

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times and rated it higher. This time it gets a 3.5 as we were disappointed. The only available room was a second floor one across the street with a view of Bubba Gumps, and a small sliver of the ocean. If you like street noise and people watching, it’s a great location, however, I prefer peace and quiet when I travel as well as an ocean view. The hotel has an outdoor Jacuzzi, small lap pool, exercise room, and spa facility. The spa offers massages and facials but does not have any extra amenities like a steam room or sauna.
Positives:
*If you like to walk around Cannery Row, the location is central, very close to the Aquarium.
*Staff are very friendly
*Hallways are bright, clean, and updated
*Room is large enough with a fireplace that turns on with a flip of a switch.
*A small Juliette balcony overlooks Cannery Row. Not big enough for a chair, but nice to stand to overlook the street below.
*Bed is comfortable.
*Towels are fluffy and big.
*Refrigerators and fast internet (Extra fee for WIFI unless you are an Intercontinental member-​sign up for free, it’s worth the WIFI).
*Bathrooms have a separate shower and tub.
*Valet parking
Negatives:
*Rooms across the street facing Cannery Row have minimal ocean views, but plenty of views of the tourists and shops.
*The street is super noisy and even with the door closed, the motorcycles revving their engines are disturbing. And there are lots of motorcycles.
*We could hear the people in the room next to us speaking through our vents. That was most disturbing. IF we could hear them, we figured they could hear us.
*As much as we love a refrigerator in the room, when it is filled with mini-​bar stuff, we have to empty it, and then it still doesn’t fit a take-​away bag.
*Housekeeping had to be called before cleaning the room at 2:30pm.
*Valet parking is expensive $ 26 a day plus tips), but necessary.
*Expensive at $ 299 per night plus taxes equaling another $ 50 plus.
Ask for a room on a high floor and you’ll have less noise. For an excellent massage at the SPA, ask for Ann Marie (Services start at $ 125). The spa does not have extra amenities such as sauna, steam, or Jacuzzi.

Beautiful hotel and location. We didn’t stay here as we are from the area, however, came for Christmas dinner at the restaurant.
Knocking one star off as the service at the valet and at the hotel reception desk could have been quite a bit better. At the valet, hey were barely doing anything, took the key, and walked off (they weren’t busy) while everyone was still getting out of the car and needed help out. We still gave a $ 5 tip.
Reception desk wouldn’t look up when I went with my grandfather to ask where the restrooms were. Once we got his attention, he then pointed and gave us direction.
I go to the Intercontinental in downtown San Francisco almost monthly, and the service at every corner is off the charts. Seemed a little lacking here… could have been because it was Christmas, and people would rather be home with their families. I’d still recommend the InterContinental chain and this location as well. It’s beautiful, they are known for service… could have just been an off night.

Very beautiful and clean hotel. I love the simple interior décor in the common areas and in the rooms, which makes the space seem more spacious. The room also comes with a cute sea otter plush (which you have to adopt for ~$ 18), but adds a cute touch to the room.
The downside is parking. Location is great, but that means there is no self-​parking and valet car pick-​up can take between 10 – 20 min (and can be quite pricey).

Besides me loosing my $ 250 Bose headphones (sheds a tear), my stay here was amazing. Rooms were great. The atmosphere was fantastic. Customer service was on point. Beds über comfortable! I’ll be back here!

This is 4 star hotel with a 5 star staff. The staff is very professional and helpful. The valet is efficient, even during a rush time. The restaurant staff is friendly and attentive. The hotel consist of two buildings connected by a sky bridge on the second story. If you follow the directions, you’d take the elevator in the main building to the second floor, walk across the sky bridge, and then take another elevator to your floor. On our second day, we discovered that we can take the elevator down to the first level and jaywalk across Cannery Row to the main building.
My only gripe is the construction of the building. The floor/​ceiling lacks insulation so you can hear feet stomping above you. The other odd thing about the hotel is their dining recommendations. We asked two separate staff member what local restaurant they’d recommend and they both said the Sardine Factory. We’ve been there before and was not impressed. I wonder if the staff gets a kickback?
Overall, this is a very nice hotel.

We had a partial ocean view room on the 4^th floor. The room was clean and classy with a fireplace. Bathroom was very nice. The location is unbeatable for going to the aquarium and other activities. The staff was great, except the valet. I’m guessing the guy didn’t think we were guests at the hotel and directed us to walk to the garage to get our car. Sorry we’re not white people, but YES we can afford to stay at this place. Lol. The restaurants around the area are typical touristy spots, not really «fine dining», but pretty good. The room overlooked Cannery Row, so people watching was quite fun. The highlight of our stay– seeing a lady walk her cat, and seeing all the people pointing and laughing at her. Lol.

Arrived for a corporate event, Jessika Neufeld was superb in accommodating our reservation and arranging our stay. Highly recommended for group bookings!
Conveniently situated on the boardwalk of Cannery Row, it’s a 5 minute walk to all the restaurants and the aquarium. The hotel is divided into 2 buildings linked by a sky bridge — though both offer ocean view rooms, I recommend booking the «U» shaped building, which is closer to the bay and offers extraordinary views, away from the busy distractions and storefronts of the other building.
Word of advice, the stuffed animal on your pillow is not free! The hotel sells them by check-​in, except they likely don’t come with germs.
The C-​restaurant downstairs is also quite good!

This is a beautiful hotel with an amazing location, great food, comfortable rooms/​beds, and very friendly staff (TJ at the front desk was amazing). It’s in a touristy area, but feels like an oasis. Really gorgeous place.
Also, the perfect spot if you’re going to visit the aquarium, as its 1 block away. Buy tickets at the front desk to get 2-​day tix for the price of 1-​day tickets at the aquarium.

Formerly the location of the original Del Mar Canning Company (1927 – 1947)…the only remnant of this old Cannery Row fishery, are the abandoned, cinder block Sardine holding pens, or «Hoppers,» still seen below the outdoor view deck.
Beat the Cannery Row parking crush and use this Hotel’s own parking garage — located on the corner of Wave Street and Prescott Ave. Go inside the bar and order yourself a cocktail or cold beverage… and your otherwise $ 28 parking fee is now the cost of your validated bar purchase!
I warn you — the food is absolutely incredible here: paired with an impressive wine selection and creative, strong Martinis, complementing the delicious bar menu items. Relax and enjoy the cozy fire pits and coastal breeze of this luxuriously-​appointed hotel. They even play Silent Films nightly outside, projected on the wall of neighbor Bubba Gumps!

Stayed here during the antique car week in Monterrey. Both the hotel and restaraunt were superb. Although we only stayed for a night, it was definitely memorable.
Pulling up in the driveway, we were greeted by valet who kindly parked for us. Checking in was easy and quick. Our room was basic, but definitely 5 stars. As a female who is into makeup, I loved the mirrors in the bathroom. But first… Lemme take a selfie…
Favorite part was watching humpback whales in the distance while eating breakfast!

Our room was huge, #421, no view but still the room was massive. Usually I’d be semi annoyed about the lack of view but the size of the room made up for it this time. Service, was excellent.
Location, is perfect if you want to be on cannery row. Just about as central as you could possibly be. Everything was in good working order in the room, and In the common areas. We did not use the on site restaurant with all of the other choices nearby.
Room was clean, large and comfortable. Not much more to ask for.

Really super nice hotel. The service here is really terrific. From the bell boys and valet service to the restaurant (great food) to the cleaning staff and front desk, everyone is ready, willing and waiting to serve you.
The rooms are super spacious and clean. Ours had a great view of cannery row with a nice small terrace.
The hotel has an enticing smell to it that we found out is piped through the ventilation system. We both have asthma but this scent was wonderful and didn’t bother us one bit — in fact we loved it. It is only in the common areas but not in your room.
If you really want a place where you can relax and feel pampered at the end of the day, I highly recommend that you stay here. We will definitely be back!

I’ve wanted to visit Monterey ever since I first watched «The Parent Trap» as a little girl and saw Haley Mills riding horses on the beach. When hubby and I realized we would be in San Fran for our wedding anniversary, we decided to expand the trip and do a Highway 1 tour, spending some time in Monterey.
As an IHG member, I quickly looked to see if there were any properties in Monterey, and lucky me, I found the gem of the Clement. I had two free nights thanks to my status and quickly booked them many months in advance.
Looking at the pics online, I expected Monterey to be a serene, picturesque swanky town, kinda like ATL’s Buckhead, but on the water. Imagine our shock when we drove up on Cannery Row on a summer Sunday afternoon and the HORDES of tourists and a giant Bubba Gump. I couldn’t help but wonder… what did I sign us up for???
We valeted the car and walked inside… pure serenity. Before I get too far into my review, let me praise the Clement for their excellent use of orchids throughout the property. Have you ever grown an orchid? I’m trying to and let me tell you — despite lots of attention and care, my orchid has yet to produce a single flower. However, walk through the Clement and you will see so many orchids with SO MANY GIANT BLOOMS — its a jaw dropping site and makes the inside of the Clement super classy.
We walked right up to the check-​in counter, were pleasantly greeted and thanks for our IHG loyalty, and et voila — got an upgraded room with bay views. We were whisked upstairs to our large room (plenty of room for a king bed plus a seating area) and settled in. Our room was very white and modern, with interesting sea life prints on the walls and sleek pale furniture. Our «bay view» was minimal — not something that could really be seen unless you went out on the patio, but regardless, it was nice and definitely great to not be on the street side of things. Our bathroom was large and featured yet another giant orchid — I loved having it as a roomie during our stay. The bed, while comfortable, definitely needed more pillows, which were quickly brought. Also note — there was a wide array of channels, including HBO. Wifi was also strong (and free, as an IHG member). We found the aircon worked great in our room. While not the nicest Intercon I’ve ever stayed in, it was super comfortable and lovely modern, an oasis in the center of Cannery Row chaos.
The concierge was SUPER friendly and easily made reservations and recommendations for us. We loved the happy hour menu ($ 11 champagne flight — heyo!!!) and even more that the hotel recognized our anniversary with a complimentary dessert. We felt very welcomed and that every request we had answered. I even forgot something in the car; it was no trouble for the valet to track it down and bring to my room. A+ service is really why I’m giving a 5 star rating.
Although I used reward points to make my booking (which means yup, I stayed for freeeeee), I found a variety of price points at this hotel. I think you can snag a deal if you look far enough in advance. With its central location on Cannery Row (read: walking distance to EVERYTHING), terrific staff, comfortable rooms, and amazing bar (with great specials!) — not to mention the on-​the-​water locale — I would highly recommend the Clement for your stay in Monterey.

Get a balcony room! The view is worth it.
My only criticism is the limited bar menu. I wanted lunch at 11:20 and they only had breakfast available.
Prepare to relax here but also walk around because it’s really amazing!
