Monterey Bay Center for Integrated Health is a continuation of Dr. Issvoran’s practice which was established originally at Monterey Family Practice. Over the last 15 years it has grown and expanded to all of the services that are now being provided.

Gerard S. Issvoran, DO is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine for the past 15 years. His practice is broad in its scope in not only issues pertaining to family medicine but now emphasizes nutritional medicine and the use of a Cooltouch laser for the purpose of treating acne, solar damaged skin and nail fungus. He continues to provide osteopathic manipulation and trigger point injections for musculoskeletal issues. Over the past year he has added the Ideal Protein Weight Reduction program for the purpose of reducing complications associated with dysmetabolic syndrome which includes: Obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension and Dyslipidemia. To date, patients have lost well over 1, 400 pounds in the 1st 6 months of operation.

It’s very difficult to find a doctor who doesn’t rely on big pharma as the answer to health issues. While he will certainly prescribe drugs when necessary, Dr. Issvoran is one of few doctors I’ve had that considers other options before reaching for his prescription pad. Whenever possible, he focuses on lifestyle changes that promote lasting health benefits vs. short term gains. Highly recommended.

He refused to provide care to my father who does not speak English. My mother (who is fluent in English) accompanies my father to his doctor’s appointments, but this doctor refused to see him. They made an appointment and paid the co-​pay and were turned around by this «doctor». Unbelievable. My parents felt discriminated against and very hurt and, frankly, confused by the way the staff and the doctor treated them. I work in the area of disability rights and will refuse to allow my elderly father to be treated this way. Calling on the legal help tomorrow morning.

Dr. Issvoran was very caring, understanding and helpful when I brought my daughter in to see him. He has also called back to check on how she is doing, and he was doing some research on some new drug options for her, which is a rarity. My daughter has serious medical issues, so if I did not trust him I would not take her to see him. They were able to get us in within an hour for an infection she had and the wait time is usually about ten minutes. The receptionist is always very friendly and the office is very nice and cheerful, with their own parking lot.

Dr. Issvoran and his team have been serving my family for the past 3 ½ years since we moved to the peninsula. He takes the best care of my family that we have ever received, going above and beyond to not toss prescriptions at us, but to treat what actually causes our ailments. He is not a medicine pusher, nor does he just stick a bandaid on to mask what’s wrong. Additionally, he doesn’t recommend additional work ups or expensive treatments — he listens, gets to the root of the problem and suggests different treatment options, going over diet and how that can affect what’s going on. He handles our family’s physicals, sports injuries/​ailments, health and wellness — you name it! We have never felt pressured into a treatment that we didn’t feel was right, nor were we ever pressured to buy things from this doctor like we have seen from others who just want to push what the pharmaceutical companies are shoving in their faces. The office staff is super friendly and not only remembers us each time we are there, but asks about how my kids are, how their football/​basketball/​volleyball game went, how the elbow is doing etc. I highly recommend Dr. Issvoran and his team of professionals to anybody looking for a family doctor.

Not a practice I would recommend. The staff was very nice, it was easy to get an appointment and they followed up with a reminder.
The Dr was nice enough, but simply didn’t listen to what I needed to address. I’ve had a pain at the base of my neck that I wanted to get a referral for x-​rays or MRI, instead he adjusted my hips.
If you don’t have any ongoing issues requiring individual attention, then the office will probably be just fine, but if you have specific issues, then you will be disappointed.

7 months after my initial appointment with Dr. Issvoran, my health is improving. My weight is down over 50 lbs (have to thank my Ideal Protein coach, Sherry, for that as well). I’m not the easiest patient, but Dr. Issvoran has always been there for support and to explain anything health related I need to know. He’s really responsive and truly cares about his patients and getting them in the best overall health as possible. He is great about returning phone calls and following up. As his patient, I can tell that working with people to improve their health is his passion and not just a source of income. He’s a very patient and kind doctor and the rest of his staff are the same way. I highly recommend the doctor and also the a Ideal Protein program he oversees. Sherry, my weight loss coach, has been very helpful and supportive during my weight loss journey. I’m very impressed with the program and the results it gives.

Dr. Issvoran is a soft-​spoken, caring doctor with great clinical skills and a listening ear. As an MD myself, I can appreciate just how rare he is, and wish there were more physicians like him. I had the privilege to both be treated by him and work in his clinic for a week.
The first thing to note is that Dr. Issvoran adeptly uses his osteopathic skills to treat many of his patients with his hands, something that MD’s like myself can’t generally do. It makes him the perfect mix of a chiropractor and a physician.
Another idiosyncrasy of his is how carefully he listens to his patients. No one he treats is «just a patient,» rather they are each individual people for whose well being he is truly concerned.
He treats fibromyalgia patients more satisfactorily than any other physician I’ve seen; I’ve seen him release trapped nerves that caused deafness, back pain, and other relatively intractable maladies.
My only regret is that he is in Monterey. If he were in Atlanta, I would immediately put my wife and family under his care. I would unreservedly recommend that you make Dr. Issvoran your Primary Care Provider.
