I cannot believe this place is closed. When it first opened, there was pretty good business and the place would be packed. After a while, it got empty and quiet. I honestly thought the place was good; they served a wide variety(not to mention lobster. at a café). I remember eating a full meal with my family there one night consisting of foods you would eat at an Asian restaurant for dinner. I thought it was really decent. Not overpriced. I get their shaved ice once in a while also. Only once were the mangoes were sour but I don’t blame them for that since it wasn’t in season at the time. I always ordered the rice with eel from this place. So yummy. And for like what, $ 5.99?, it was a gigantic bowl fit for 2 – 3 people. If I had to pick a place as my favorite café in the city, I would’ve picked this place.

I’ve been to this place quite a few times already and they haven’t disappointed me yet. The service is not bad at all because i usually go for lunch and it isn’t pack so they pay attention to you. They’re all really friendly. I only see female workers there. I say do not order their drinks because they are pretty pricey! $ 3 for a lemon ice tea. You can go to kt café and get it for $ 0.50. I tried their Basil Chicken Wings and its pretty good. Their baked chicken and corn cream sauce dish is good also. Their Curry eel rice is delicious today. All their curry dishes tastes really good. For these kind of dishes, it cost around $ 7&up but the portion they give pretty much adds up to the $ 7 dollar you’re paying because I never finish half my dish. I will try their curry fries next time because it seems like a popular dish here! :D I would recommend this place to everyone because they have so many different kind of dishes and its worth it.

You have committed the unforgivable sin!!! Look, on your menu, it says free refills with milk tea. However, if you buy milk tea with boba, they won’t refill your milk tea. Milk tea with boba is the exact same thing, except with tapioca in it! I said, I know you won’t refill the boba, just the milk tea. They still wouldn’t do it! Plus, there’s no indication on the menu that the addition of boba to your drink will allow them to deny you a refill. grrr. freaking bait-switch that loses you a star. This place was only a two star place to begin with. Although the portions were sizable, the food itself was mediocre at best. They had wifi, but no one knew the password. Just not a well run establishment. With the competition nearby, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this place with a new name and a «grand re-opening» in the near future.

I always hesitate when going to resturants that categorize themselves as Asian fusion. Asian food on its own is already very good… I feel that trying to re-invent it doesn’t work. Anyway, Citi Café is another Asian fusion diner in SGV. Sure it can handle huge crowds and have long extensive menus on everything… but do they really make anything good well? Ordered a simple shrimp + mango salad with H.K. style fried egg toast. Shrimp was sparse on the salad, but the mangos were decent. They give you a lot of lettuce to make the dish look bigger than it is. The sandwich was really greasy thanks to the over-zealous chef who spread a ton of mayo on it. bleh. The fries were okay, but you REALLY shouldn’t mess up on fries. I tried a friend’s pineapple baked spaghetti dish. didn’t really like it. Just runny and gooey all over. I don’t understand how this place is averaging 3.5 stars. This place is not very cheap… sandwich, drink, and salad cost $ 16.

Curry cheese fries are the business here. So freakin good. Decent salad: shrimp and avocado. Baked salmon wasn’t that great. The shrimp, chicken, fish ball noodle soup was great. Love the broth. Very sweet ice tea, typical of these Cantonese café restaurants. Parking found in the back. Seems to always play the Travel Channel, Man vs Food here, makes you think they should have a food challenge here. :)

Nice clean café that has some interesting items. Like your typical café, their menu is huge and diverse. Chinese, Thai, Western, and even Korean can be found on the menu. In the end, I opted for my default, chicken steak + pork chop combo with black pepper sauce and finished my meal a little disappointed. The black pepper sauce is incredibly… BLAND. You would expect the black pepper sauce to taste at least… black peppery… but that’s not the case at all. I had to sprinkle pepper into the sauce myself to give it some flavor. Huge huge portion for the chicken steak though so that’s a plus. Also comes with corn and your choice of white rice or spaghetti. However, I do like their other items, like their steamed clams, tom yum noodle soup, and even their curry cheese fries. Yes curry fries. For me, their curry is better than other cafes, and the fries are seasoned a little bit to give it more flavor. Just wish that they give you more curry though. The steamed clams are actually big and you feel like you are eating something substantial rather those tiny ones. Wouldn’t mind coming back and try something else.

My lion dance group frequents numerous Asian eateries after practices and performances, this place was pretty crackn for a new to SoCal guy like me. I ordered the baked seafood pasta and a boba thai tea. My team shared the Curry fries which were off the hook! My baked seafood pasta was a bit bland since it seemed like they dumped more heavy cream into it than mozerella cheese. This was the first time. I came here for lunch today and ordered the Salmon with pineapple sauce over rice. This has got to be my favorite place so far for baked grains and fish. I was pretty curious and decided to order their Hot Ginger Coke. It wasn’t bad. It kept me jittery all day after that. This place is good for: Baked seafood or salmon over rice Hot Hinger Coke Curry Fries Lobster E-mein No Likey: Baked pastas are bland and take a little more than 10 minutes to make. I saw some other interesting foods on the menu and decided I should try it some other time. Best to come here in a group of 4 – 5 people since the eatery has some huge tables.

This is my new favorite café! Amongst the numerous cafes here in SGV this has to be one of my favorites. Every dish we’ve tried we haven’t had a complaint. Recommendations: –Curry fries –Ginger Chicken Soup Rice noodle(for a cold winter day) –Lobster e-noodle –The whole menu!(no joke, one day I shall conquer it!) The best thing is that they serve anything from freshly squeezed fruit juices to regular café food to some dishes you’d only expect in Chinese restaurants! The dishes are also huge! One order is usually enough to share between 2 or if you’re not that hungry, even 3! This place is not where you’d expect to go for a large family meal but it works! Their large portions accommodate family style sharing and they have a couple of large tables too. Verdict: It’s a different type of café than what you’re used to, give it a try! You’ll be hooked… I was: s It’s now my go to place after a 40+ mile drive from a different kind of Valley. Note: They close around 12 so they don’t open as late as other cafes after a good night of clubbing. That would be the down side.

Spacious décor-check Clean space-check Huge menu selection-check Huge entrée size-check We came to Citi Café because I needed a break from Tasty Garden and Garden Café, two places I frequent way too often. Citi Café has big portions and typical café food. There were no lunch specials when we went and the food was good but not great. I do like how the place is clean and really spacious with a lot of booths all over the restaurant. I would consider coming back but it won’t replace Tasty Garden.

Meh, I was hoping this place was better. The décor looks pretty nice and it’s really clean, but the food is pretty lacking. As is their beverages. First off, milk tea is weird tasting. I don’t think they use the correct type of tea. The bf and I ordered Korean short ribs and their lasagna thingy. Both were mediocre. The tomato sauce for the lasagna is unflavored. It tasted like tomatoes. No herbs or spices. The Korean short ribs only came with two pieces. The menu picture had THREE pieces, and all the other cafes give three pieces. The meat was too tough, and definitely not medium rare like I asked. It was almost well-done.

Very disappointing this time. I think the place is going downhill. We came here on Saturday night at around 10PM and the place was pretty empty. There were only about 2 other parties and the waitress still delivered the wrong order to us. I ordered a loquat green tea drink, and it was just awful. The rice that came with my French Style Beef Steak was mushy! It was kind of gross. The utensils had food stains caked on too. With this quality of food and the prices, it’s not worthwhile to come back again. No good.

You know what, I came back here for lunch and the food actually was pretty decent. I ordered the Wonton soup with added egg noodles. The portion size was ridiculous. I got like 10 wontons and noodles for like 7 bux. I’ll be ordering this from now on. Note: The soup is a bit on the«garlicky» side. Is that even a word? But still, I like the way it tastes and also how they made the noodle al dente.

I’ll keep it simple. Good food, HORRIBLESERVICE! Maybe you’re better off getting your items To-Go. Never tried this alternative yet. Went once with a coworker during a dead hour around 5pm on a weeknight, workers just stared at us. Went here again on a Sunday afternoon(good luck finding parking by the way) with a friend, and waited about 40 minutes for our orders. Also, who waits 20 minutes to receive a side order of french fries? One of the workers even gave us someone else’s change… when we haven’t even gotten our orders yet! Sooo. verdict is: If you don’t mind the wait, and pushy waitresses, come on by. Your pallet won’t be disappointed.

Another HK café in monterey park. this one is new and clean. I always enjoy trying new HK café. cuz it is boring for me to go back to Tasty Garden, Sunday Bistro, Baccalli, etc… so it’s fun for me when i hear a new one is opened for business. When it comes to HK style café. i have my control dishes… just so i can compare it with other restaurants. lemon tea — okay. could be stronger in tea flavor. So far the best lemon tea i had is Ledo’s Café. egg and shrimp e-fu noodles but i substituted w/rice noodle: this is my control dish to test the chef’s cooking skill. not all places can make this dish well. you gotta have that flowyness of the egg/eggwhite…and at the same time not overcook the rice noodle where it’s burnt… anyway, this dish here was good. gave us a lot of shrimp and the eggs were flowy w/the gravy. but i think the chef cooked the eggs a bit too long. but it was still good. baked pork chop w/tomato sauce on rice: this is to compare how good their western style cooking is. it’s okay. the rice were not fried rice — it was steamed rice. the tomato sauce was a tad bit too sour. And the pork chop was WAY overcooked. it was touchy and chewy. I will not order this again. baked seafood w/pasta: good amount of seafood. although it’s not the same white sauce that i’m used to. it was still okay /good. actually it was too heavy on the pepper taste. they sprinkled to much pepper. But otherwise it was okay. not bad. all in all the dishes were good. it wasn’t disgustingly bad. but it wasn’t super great. i wouldn’t mind coming back here again. Their menu is huge and the price is reasonable.

We got seated in the way corner of the restaurant — next to the bathrooms — in a very cramped booth. The waiter service was slow, the iced lemon tea and my dad’s milk tea was too bland. The food was pretty good. My sister ordered the won-ton noodles, and there was about 8 – 10 won-ton. As I exited the restaurant, I noticed a sticker on the door«People on Unilocal Love Us!» and I decided to comment because the moment I saw that, I thought«yeah … right.» Anyway, it’s a bit overpriced and the food is okay. The waiter service sucks. I prefer KT or JJ Café instead.

4 stars for their Tuna Sandwich with Fries @ breakfast!!! No seriously. It was delicious. It’s like bricktoast but with TUNA. so like a TUNAMELTBRICKTOAST. & the fries. i didn’t think chinese places could get fries right! they were like curly fries @ jack in the box… but straight. mmmmm… Well, I only had breakfast here today. Their soy sauce chow mein thing was mediocre. & their porridges are alright… The service is good. I guess maybe ’cause my Dad comes here a lot & we were the only people at 8 in the am. The music was a bit loud but after one loud obnoxious song, it was quiet… then it was weird but whatever. The décor looks completely new. The booths are spacious and comfortable. I’m not gonna get into the whole tons of mismatch in style… marble. tile…granite.’cause well that’s not the point. I would come back here, maybe to try lunch or dinner but DEFINITELY for the tuna sammich. nomnomnom. Yay Canto Cafes!

I just dropped on in when I saw the grand opening sign and was intrigued. I usually just eat at the local cafes. Like ABC, Baccali, Garden, and etc. Came in and like some people said noticed the very nice and clean modern décor. It happened to be 5pm and I noticed they had those tea time specials. I got the meat sauce fries for like 3.99 and my friend got some needle noodle with pork or somethign. So we waited and noticed phatom menace(star wars), was on and I was like O God, i hope this place doesnt blow and then i watched some of Jar Jar Binks. Once the food came out, lo-and-behold. The Fries looked awesome, fried to perfection and the meat sauce didnt sog up the fries and make it gross. It had a great flavor like the pasta bolognese they serve in all cafes. But theres was clean and just was full of flavor. My friends noodles were interesting and actually quite tasty. All in all the bill was 9 $ and basically left paying a total of $ 11. I didnt think it too expensive and the food was pretty bomb for this place. Will definitely come back and try other dishes since the pics some of these users uploaded looks ridiculously good.

Tried to read a whole bunch of reviews of different cafes around the area. Decided not to go to ABC or KT because we wanted to give this one a shot. First off the service was pretty good, baring the fact that there weren’t many people eating. The facility is very clean and modern. The food on the other hand was only mediocre. The vegetable curry tofu was decent. The eggplants, well there were only eggplants. The chicken minced corn soup had some egg white, but the chicken wasn’t minced.

i wanted to give it a 3.5 but didnt want to put a 3: P i cheated… but i think peeps should give this place a try. i drive by this area everyday and noticed this place opened… then finally went to try it today. the interior is very retro like if it wasnt for the chinese neon signs. very nice tho. very not busy and the staff was very nice. food came super fast but i’m assuming it was because it was not busy. we ordered the thai seafood fried rice which was surprisingly good. loved the scallops in there. so soft and yum… also ordered the other thing pictured and was told that was really good. i’d come back again to try the other stuff. a couple of negative things… no soup!!! boo… i like my free soup! and no pictures on the menu. i’m a very visual person and usually chose the thing pictured but none of that… they should change that up for more sales.

This place is alright. I dont see much of a difference from all the other asian cafes. I just decided to come here with a gal pal of mine because i’ve never been here. The food is okay, nothing special. Price wise, its the same as other cafes also.
