Haven Montauk

It has a bed and a cold pool. That is it. We went a couple of weeks ago. The room was freezing. No one was available to provide extra blankets at night. To boot as we checked out, my husband was told that a portable heater would have been provided if we checked earlier in the week. — He was offered a pastry for the poor experience. Umm… Really?
Anyone who gives this place 2 or more stars has either never been to a small hotel or is friends with the owner.

Great prices, nice pool area, rooms are open and bright. Super comfortable beds. We went during the midweek when it was pretty quiet, and loved it. Office is open during the day, and they leave info for late checkins posted on the door. Very close to town, but out on the point by great restaurants and beaches.
Highly recommend for the budget-​conscious Montauk traveller who still wants a nice little place to stay.

Our second year at Haven, we love it. Great location by the sound and docks. Clean quiet comfortable rooms and super helpful and friendly staff. Note there’s no food and the office closes at night, but there are small markets and restaurants nearby. They have a shiny new gas grill out back by the fire pit for grilling that fresh caught striped bass you bought at Gosman’s dock. Quite a few nearby bars, some with live music at night.

What a gem! Great location (away from the craziness in town), beautiful views, refreshing décor and lovely staff. I couldn’t have asked for a better hotel. I really felt the surfer /​beach vibe the minute I pulled into the driveway. I will definitely be back to visit Haven!

Nice hotel renovated thoughtfully clean rooms and convenient location by the bay. Comfortable lounge furniture by the pool to chill out, pool is always cold not heated. Also the picnic area is a good option in the evening. The major problem with this hotel is the smug woman who runs this place. Checking in is like you are inconveniencing her. She is rude and has zero people skills. As another reviewer mentioned when the weekend comes she becomes a different person to cater to the upper east side and European clients that she wants there who are paying top dollar. The other staff working here was very nice especially the other girls working the front desk and maintenance staff. Nice hotel horrible manager.

This place was great! The staff was very helpful and gave great tips about places to go to eat, and what to do in the area. The rooms were clean, spacious, and the bed felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. Definitely booking this place every summer. Overall I highly recommend going here if you are looking for a relaxing hotel near the beach, and near nightlife.

I wanted to love this place (family owned, visually appealing, great location). Multiple factors made it impossible. Just returned from a three night, four day stay with my boyfriend (Tuesday through Friday). We are both working professionals with limited time off, and were looking forward to a laid back beach break. I have visited Montauk for years so I know what to expect (simple, no frill bungalow-​style motels) and all I request is a clean place to stay. We are not high maintenance and very self-​sufficient, however, the service were received here was so off-​putting, I would never return. Let me elaborate. The motel seems to hire young workers who are untrained. Check-​in and check-​out were riddled with mistakes, and we were provided with no information (ie– where are the towels? where is the ice bucket? where is the additional parking lot when it gets full?). When you ask a question of these young desk workers, you are given a blank stare and attitude.
The motel is NOT cheap during the week (we paid over $ 300/​night, however, the weekly guests are treated as subpar to weekend guests). It became a running joke for us that on Friday, as we were leaving, it was a different hotel! Suddenly, the staff was helpful and smiling… there was newspapers available, champagne and towels by the pool, cushions on the rock hard loungechairs, etc. Is my money not green enough?
If these reasons are not enough to stay elsewhere… the sink in my room had zero water pressure (drip, drip, drip), and the shower took twenty minutes to heat up before we could step in

Amazing place. We pulled up in a taxi and the owner greeted us in the parking lot. Inside 5 minutes, my wife and I were in our room. The rooms were very modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel is in an ideal locale, close to many bars, restaurant and a really cute wine shop. I love this place and I will be back.

Haven Montauk is a solid 3 Star Hotel. Hot water, comfortable beds (Ikea Furniture) and clean rooms. The staff was friendly and always available to call a taxi. My one complaint is the wi-​fi was very spotty (if existent at all) and there is very little cell coverage in this part of Montauk.
In short, Haven is the ideal place to stay if you you just need a place to crash and will be spending most of your time out exploring Montauk.

This was our first time in Montauk and the Blue Haven did not disappoint. The room was nicely renovated, felt fresh and inviting. Within walking distance to a few decent restaurants with amazing sunsets. Scored a beach pass for the day to check out Ditch Plains Beach that had a great vibe and amazing waves. Management was nice and accommodating. We would definitely return and stay here again.

I just have to start out and say– I’m a little leery to give a great review because then more people will know about this place. I was lucky enough to find this spot for a great deal, but even at the regular price it is still good. Haven is a remodeled motel a little removed from the «party scene» but still hip. I’ve stayed in 3 or 4 other places in Montauk and this in my favorite by far. Haven was perfect for my family (wife, 11 year old daughter & 4 year old son). The rooms are very clean/​beachy décor, almost all white, with minimal furniture including low platform beds & a cool CB2 chair in the corner & high end shutters on the windows. The pool area is perfect with lounge chairs, beds with pillows, nice CB2 chairs, a grassy area, attention to landscaping, perfect mellow music and last but not least the swan float in the pool. The other areas are great too, the little kids picnic table area and the fire pit (wood provided but build for yourself) with outdoor sofas and gas lanterns. There is a small private beach across the street (on the Long Island Sound). A few things to note: I’m not positive but in walking past the rooms, I think they all have a mini-​fridge, there are tables and stools in some rooms but not all, there are stove tops in some rooms but not all, there is free cable and wi-​fi, there is free coffee (& water/​tea/​coconut water) in the office each morning but not a coffee maker in every room, some bathrooms have standup showers, others full tubs. Haven is not in the village but is walkable to Gossman’s and other restaurants and Ben & Jerry’s, and a short drive to the village (or a bike ride on the free Sole bikes). Our only small issues during our stay were we were asked to move to a different room, but only about ten minutes after we arrived and they helped us relocate so not a huge issue & out towel hook was broken in the bathroom. I read a previous review mentioning the management… all I can say is the owners were great to us. They talked to my children, shared bubbles and glow sticks with my 4 year old from their «treasure chest» & the wife sat with my daughter and discussed instagram pictures! If the hotel didn’t win me over, the owners did. Just be specific with your requests when booking a room. My kids seriously did not want to leave and my wife and I can’t wait to return.

Wonderful weekend at this gem of a spot, spotless, attention to detail, very highly recommend, staff is super friendly, we’re coming back to Heaven! Much love, C & C

Haven… well named. A very pleasant tasteful (think surf lodge type décor/​rooms, bright airy, peaceful, nice beds) place.
Staff is all wonderful and pleasant and the whole place is so nice. Great pool and really nice firepit bbq area as some of the pics show.
I have been coming to MTK over 10yrs and this is always my first inquiry when I book a hotel.

Right by the marina, beach is across the street and there is the cutest little greater named Mila who welcomes you with the biggest smile
Room 22 is the secret gem but can’t go wrong with any of the rooms

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Haven Montauk for 2 nights /​3 days and this being our first trip to Montauk, we felt very lucky to stumble upon this great spot!
The staff was extra helpful and went out of their way to help us out with any requests or questions about the area. The rooms were extremely clean and recently remodeled. The motel also features a small pool with new outdoor furniture and relaxing (mostly) music. There are two small beaches and several restaurants within walking distance of the motel.
One added bonus was the Solé bicycles that you can take for a ride — free of charge. Only setback is that the blue haven is a $ 12 cab ride to the plaza & the main Montauk beach area.

Just want to add that Haven Montauk *does* have a website (duh, just look at the Unilocal link!) but the problem is that Google maps does not link to it. I would recommend that the management folks at Haven go on to Google Maps, click on their search result, and select «Manage This Page» where it says «is this your business?» and add their weblink! It saves us lazy people (like me) from doing a separate google search while doing hotel research!

Loved this place. Cute and clean. Most hotels in Montauk are $ 450 and up and anything under is usually gross. But not the Haven. This place is so cute. The towels and sheets are of good quality and clean. The staff made me feel welcomed. Our room had beautiful orchids and a lovely view of the water. I am going back this weekend and looking forward to it. :-)
