Love this cozy and cool little spot. Located right next to the river, the lady killingrew has big windows to take in the view while having a bite. In the warmer months you can sit outside(best time to come). They have beer & wine and great sandwich choices. The curried chicken is really good. Worth the drive.

The atmosphere is lovely and the surrounding environment is fantastic! The food is very good and the drinks are quite tasty. Except for the coffee — not my thing at all. I think the coffee is pretty terrible but perhaps I’m simply very picky? I would highly recommend different coffee and getting a full-on espresso machine, etc. The employees are typically very friendly and helpful, even when they’re incredibly busy.

GREAT food. GREAT drink. GREAT people. Annoying seating area, but it never stops me from coming back!

Always a nice atmosphere, delicious food and drink, great place for a beer. Check out the used book store next door and the beautiful river below!

We waited a good half hour for our lunch, and while typically that may ruin the experience for me, the sandwich was genuinely worth the wait. Tucked away in arguably one of the prettiest parts of western Massachusetts, Lady Killegrew(and the Book Mill in which it lives) is the perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon. (Just don’t plan on it if you’re in a hurry.)

Was looking for a good place to grab a small bite to eat after exploring historic Deerfield. Decided to take the drive over after reading some good reviews on here and I loved it. The atmosphere was great and the staff was friendly and helpful. I sat outside and could hear the river while I ate my lunch. I had the peanut noodles which were delicious and a very good root beer. Overall a really great experience definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. I also loved the used bookstore and the drive over from Deerfield was peaceful and beautiful.

The loveliest spot you could imagine, in an old mill overlooking a flowing river. There is nice outdoor seating in the summer as well. They really do a lot in here with such a small space. You never feel overcrowded. Very country vibe with friendly and chatty counterstaff. A few signature sandwiches and salads, a good beer selection, some groovy music. I’ve had both the peanut noodle salad and the gingery tofu/asian cabbage sandwich. Both are consistently good the times I have had them. There’s a little 3-stool bar and a generally hip vibe for being out in the country. Grab the corner table overlooking the river if you are on a date. There’s also a bookstore, record store, crafty spot and another bar/restaurant right in the complex. Lady K is recommended!

The coffee was $ 3 and over brewed/bitter, the GF blueberry muffin was dry and lacked flavor but the GF cookie was very tasty and full of chocolate chips. Waiting in line was full of «excuse me» or someone shoving past you to get outside/to the coffee condiments. Loved the environment despite rude customers(which I know is not their fault and this why I am giving 3 stars instead of 2)

Really beautiful location. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful — they let me keep a coffee tab open, and happily made my requested maple milk with coffee added, which was delicious and is my new favorite thing. Haven’t had their sandwiches yet, but the menu looked interesting and I’m sure they are great. Prices are also completely reasonable

Food was delicious and oddly styled. We had our dog and baby and hung outside on there picnic benches.

I love the atmosphere of this place, it is so peaceful… The best place in the area to go on a nice sunny day if you want to sit outside. Their paninis are amazing(I get the kelbasa with cheddar) and I love the salad that comes with it. Overall, a somewhat limited menu, but if you are in the mood for a sandwich, salad, or noodles(my friends love their peanut noodles), you’ve come to the right place. Price-wise, I’d say it’s what you’d expect for the area — around $ 9 for a panini(so the $$ rating is a bit exaggerated).

Cant say enough about this place. I try to go as often as I can and spend some time in the bookstore, record store and this café. The ATMOSPHERE. The…atmosphere… The ONLY complaint that I have, is that they have signs that say that you cant have a computer between certain hours. I dont have a problem at ALL with the signage, or the ban… I just wish it got enforced! Seating is super limited, and it grates my carrots that people think nothing of camping out for hours doing whatever absolutely urgent crap they came to this serene, scenic, wooded, waterfalled place of bliss to do. Get off your computer for an hour. Look at a tree. Then let me have your table.

Could a place be any more New England quaint? Go to spend some time– you won’t be the only one who thought you should swing by so the waits are long but it’s relaxing to stroll around the book stores and music stores or just by the river. Had the cold peanut noodle dish(YUM) and husband had the buffalo special(also delicious). Highly recommend, esp in the fall after a hike around Skinner State Park!

I’m writing today about Lady Killigrew Café, a charming little sandwich shop sharing a building with the also-charming Montague Bookmill. This cozy wooden room offers tasty sandwiches served by friendly people. I take issue, however, with the way they run their restaurant. After placing your order at the register, you are asked to pay immediately(okay, at these prices I wasn’t expecting a cafeteria, but I’ll go along with it), and pay a tip with customary 10%, 15%, and 20% buttons. I paid the 15% tip(I normally tip more, but was taken aback by tipping in advance), and then I’m told that there is no service — I have to carry drinks(in my case, drinks for seven plus water) to the table myself. Huh. Ok. Then after eating, I find out that we are expected to bus our own plates, scrape food into buckets, and empty our own tables. Let me be clear — I have no problem with cafeteria-style restaurants. I do, however, have a problem being conned into paying a full service charge in advance and then receiving no service. My next issue is with buying a beer. I am 45, so I was slightly surprised that I was asked for proof of age, but so be it. What I was not prepared for was being told that a drivers license is not good enough. I wound up having to show three separate pieces of identification to buy a beer. Three? Really? At this point you’re just messing with me, aren’t you? Also, there are comical«no mobile phone» and«no laptop» signs about every three feet in the establishment. Personally, I don’t understand using phones in a restaurant — I always go outside if I need to make a call — so I understand the policy, but not the tacky wallpaper-like signs of admonition in numbers that outweigh the number of tables. So after all of this, my question is, why do you treat your customers like children? Is it really necessary to put up all of these signs? Why not put up a «No Spitting» sign while you’re at it? It might raise the level of your clientele! And since government ID is not good enough for you to serve a glass of beer, you obviously have enough problems that you should simply stop serving alcohol. Finally, considering that I was happy to pay $ 80 for a few sandwiches, a couple of sodas and a beer, you might consider using some of that money to hire a busboy to clear off the damn tables. Good luck in your business — you do make some delicious sandwiches — but I won’t be back. Next time, I’ll be going somewhere with a «grownups» table.

This place was lovely! We have only been there once so far, and we did not actually eat any food. So we will have to update this review after we actually eat there. We did have some nice beer at a table outside with an exquisite view of the beautiful river. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The other customers were very nice and friendly, and just generally the atmosphere was extremely chill. I must also comment about the SMELL. We were not at all hungry, which is why we didn’t eat anything. But we were SO tempted to eat, despite not being hungry, because the place smelled AMAZING. It just smelled like some seriously good food was being prepared and enjoyed in there. It’s somewhere we will definitely plan to visit again when we are in that area again, and we’ll make a point of trying their food. My mouth still waters just writing this review, even THINKING about how delicious it smelled in there. Oh yes, and they had growlers of ice coffee for take-out sale! Pretty convenient, eh? Definitely check this place out.

I wanted to save my 200th review for someplace phenomenal and this place is amazing. The place is in the middle of nowhere which makes that much better. Those who come here want to be here. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. I ordered an iced coffee and a curry chicken salad. They sell growlers of cold brewed ice coffee. Dear Lord how I fell head over heels for this place. Staff are super friendly. The bread is locally bought from a bakery in Amherst. While waiting for my sandwich, I explored the place. Nice outside seating in a revamped mill complex. You can hear the waterfall. But nothing could compare to the sunken level inside dining room with three walls of huge windows overlooking the waterfalls. I sat at a table overlooking the waterfalls in a zen blissed out daze and didn’t want to leave. They have free wifi and I’d take an entire day to sit there, read, surf the web and order iced coffee after iced coffee. I went looking for the restroom which is in the used book store half of the building. Walk through and looked at all the nooks and crannies ready for you to curl up to read. Wing chairs and couches sprinkled liberally throughout. A bibliophiles dream come true. I could lose myself here for hours.

Beautiful, beautiful café on the banks of a river. Fantastic iced coffee, cheerful service, and the best grilled Brie and apple sandwich I’ve ever had. I think it would be impossible to not enjoy this place.

With good prices and great food the Lady K is a valley staple. Hidden but open and bustling, their sandwiches are amazingly fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The sandwich breads with Henion Bakery Pain au Levain, beers from near and far, fresh salads and veggies… I generally find service is slow but I can justify a wait for such simple pleasures. The brie and apricot, tofu, and most of all perhaps curry chicken salad are marvels of a small kitchen.

My last meal before embarking on a passover fast was a bagel from Lady Killigrew, eating outdoors on an early spring morning next to the cottage-like café, adjacent to the sweetest bookstore you ever did see, sitting atop a sparkling waterfall that feels private and intimate. My boyfriend and I sipped coffee and maple milk(yes, that’s maple syrup and milk — genius), played a word game, snacked on breakfast sammies, perused the neighboring book store, and then went for a hike. It was the most effing adorable morning I have ever had, and this café may be the coziest spot on the planet.
