I love this store, but only come for sales or with coupons because some items are overpriced. Its like Hobby Lobby they jack up the price then put 50% off so u think your getting a good deal. Good selection of art/painting supplies which u cannot find across the street at Walmart. This is my go to store when i need to find a cheap gift for somebody like stationary, pens, notebooks, etc… I like their fat pens for a 1. My complaint is that they run out of stuff alot. Like christmas ornaments or Halloween. If u see something u like you better buy it cuz it will be gone 2 days later if u want to think over your purchase.

This is a nice craft store for certain things but the selection isn’t the biggest and some things are extremely overpriced. You can usually find coupons in the paper and off season things on sale but still. If you take the time to go a little farther down the road into aliquippa pat catans has a much bigger selection for a much better price.

This is a composite review of probably 30 … yes 30 visits over this past year. I started a wall art project to capture the sewing and embroidery art from my grandmother, do some post cards as wall art, album covers in frames, and other projects. The people that worked the frame shop were always wonderful to associate with. Indeed, they all had a great eye for framing, colors, matting to enhance, and worked to have all the discounts available accrue to me. I could go on and on about the pleasant interacts on a 3x weekly basis for more than a couple of months. The Monaca store is the focus of this review. The Cranberry store is a different matter entirely — oddly understaffed, and not nearly as fun. That will be a separate review. Monaca — yeah… could not be better. f8 and be there.

I love Michaels in Monaca PA. It is not the biggest Michaels store, but the staff is wonderful, always helpful, even though they seem quite busy with only a few workers in the store at a time. Some prices are high if you dont catch a sale or have a coupon. A previous review on here says the michaels staff doesn’t have experts in the items they sell. I totally disagree, having spoken to several associates who helped me with the details of my projects. I have met two associates who also teach classes in their expert field. I am sure no one person can be an expert in every crafting or art category, but they do really try to help you. Go there for jewelry help and classes! I learned so much!

Kay needed to come here yesterday to buy things needed for a friend’s wedding for which she’s the Maid of Honor. I guess that makes me the Boyfriend of Honor or more appropriately, the Bored Boyfriend of Honor. That was until I caught a glimpse of a certain shelf, one that was full of Lilliputian knights, dragons, minotaurs, dinosaurs, mythical birds, centaurs, pirates, gorillias… Poseidon himself! They’re called Toobs, and when I saw them, the 8 year-old in me took over. A half an hour passed without me knowing it. When Kay found me, I was… playing with… action figures. But, they were so cool. I wanted to… Collect. Them. All. They must put them there to entertain boys who are dragged here by their mothers. Or women with boyfriends or husbands. I mean we need something to do and look at while you all hunt for cake pans, fake flowers, glue guns, yarn, scrapbooks, and other things you saw Martha Stewart use on television. Kay didn’t find everything she was looking for, but combined with a gift card and my generosity, she got it all for free.

Pleas note, the actual address is: 115 Wagner Rd, Bldg B MONACA, PA15061 This store is a crafter’s dream or an artist’s nightmare. As I browse the well organized sections of the store I find many ideas and inspiration for art projects. There are jewelry making supplies, things for wood working, materials for glass work, and candle crafting stuff. There are DOZENS of scrap booking ideas as well, which they have an obvious obsession with. I am sorely disappointed in the lack of variety in drawing and painting supplies. Sure there are a few isles, and many different types of board, canvas, and paper for any medium of art. They have different sized easels and a selection or paints and pencils. My problem is there are only 2 or 3 brands to choose from. If you don’t like prisma color brand, then you are out of luck in Michael’s. There is a huge artificial floral department that changes seasonally. They’ll even custom make an arrangement to fit the occasion. The custom framing is also a money make for the store. In the back is a classroom where people can come to teach their craft. The prices are a bit steep but you get the quality you pay for. Also, the service is friendly but have no formal training therefore can’t offer much in the way of advice as to which size bead goes with which wire. I stop in here for most of my supplies, though I would prefer an independently owned shop. I’ll have to find one for my sewing needs as Michaels offers a gigantic assortment of yearn but almost not supplies for a fabric worker. If you need some reference material, come browse around! If you make a purchase you’re more than likely to get a wonderful coupon for your next visit.
