Lives up to the hype! You can smell the smoke as soon as you pull in the parking lot. We were seated and then presented with a pile of white bread and warm BBQ sauce, a perfect start. Try the Big Daddy Nacho for an appetizer, a mix of coleslaw, sauce, meat and homemade chips. For the main course, nothing but ribs, meaty sauce laden ribs. You’ll notice a roll pf paper towels on the table, you’ll need them. Hands down some of the best ribs I’ve ever tasted. I’ll be back!

This place was SO welcoming, amazing service, the manager/owner came over twice during our stay to see how we were doing. That is what I wish every business would do. Sauces and rubs are just as great. I would love for the beef to be a little more smoky, but chicken was perfect, sausage was perfect. Definitely will be back when we are in town.

Middle of the pack by a nose! The good: The dreamland wings were excellent. Smoked over hickory then finished like traditional Buffalo wings. The hickory is a great added layer to the taste of the wings! 5 stars for the wings. The fried okra was pretty tasty. Just a tad bit greasy but then again a little grease never killed anyone(at least not the same night lol) They put a sort of remoulade sauce drizzle on top which is a nice touch. Overall 4 stars! The bad: Here is where the problems started. If your name has BBQ in it then you should be excellent at BBQ. Sadly that isn’t the case here. I ordered the rib tips. I was told by the staff that the ribs were not fall of the bone and had a slight pull. I turned and surveyed the diners to look at the rib eaters. If a slight pull in Alabama is forearms visibly flexing and pulling with enough force in the opposite way with your head that it causes a whiplash effect so be it! I don’t want to wrestle with my ribs therefore the tips. The tips themselves were extremely bland! You don’t need to over season meat but none? Really? There was no taste of the hickory like there was in the wings. They tasted like the tips had been thrown in the oven baked and drowned in BBQ sauce. Which brings me to the next problem. I will preface my comments by stating that I am not a big fan of vinegar based sauces. In saying that their sauce is just lacking! I mean seriously you can buy better sauce in the grocery store! I don’t mean to sound harsh. The food wasn’t disgusting but it was just edible. Edible BBQ at a BBQ restaurant is unacceptable in my opinion. I wanted to give them a 2.5 but that is not an option(help me out Unilocal!!!Lol) they were not as bad as a 2. Therefore they get a 3 by a hair!

Stopped by here on the way to Mobile after visiting family in Birmingham. Wait staff very helpful. 92 year old mother can’t eat an adult portion trying to figure out how to downsize her serving. Waitress promptly suggested a kids meal. Consisted of pulled pork with sauce on side, a side dish and drink. Fantastic!!! Know what am I gonna order? They are known for ribs and pulled pork. I go for the rib plate which includes two sides. Choose FFs and Nanna pudding. I immediately notice the side dishes are larger than in the past. Been over a year since last visit. The ribs were great as well as the side of fries. Mom enjoyed her pulled pork and the serving size was perfect. What made it a five on the trip was the nanna pudding in a larger dish. Rib plate size was almost too large a serving. By the way Dreamland is one of my favorite places for BBQ.

I loved the Big Daddy Nachos appetizer. You gotta try it. Homestyle potato chips, cole slaw, and your choice of meats ribs, chicken, or pulled pork. Or you can have all 3 of the meats if you’d like. It is packed with rich flavors that blend perfectly. I tried hard not to keep eating it cause I wanted to save room for my meal and dessert. But hands down it was the highlight of my experience here. The ribs were tougher than I’d like and the banana pudding was just okay.

The hubs and I stopped in here one afternoon while out and about. We insisted on sitting next to the big brick grill. Manning that grill would be my hubby’s dream job. Of course he had to go chat with the pitmaster for a few minutes. We learned that they smoke the spare ribs high and fast, something like 350 for an hour, but I can’t remember exactly. To put that in perspective, we smoke our baby backs at 225 for about 5 hours. Hmmmm… Well, to be honest, the ribs were okay. Not something I would order, but my husband did. I had the pulled pork sandwich and I enjoyed it. I’ve had the chicken before when a client catered it to our office and it was pretty good as well. The sauce is vinegar based and kind of spicy. The waitress recommended the pecan pie for dessert. Apparently the lady who bakes them uses her personal recipe and it’s better than any pecan pie I’ve ever had. That pecan pie is worthy of 5 stars! OMG! Total mouthgasm. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere was slightly divey, which we like. The prices weren’t bad. We’ll definitely go back and get more of that pie, but we’ll probably both just order sandwiches next time.

Best barbecue in the south! This restaurant is an Alabama stable. Great atmosphere! Very true to our culture in the Heart of Dixie. Definitely stop in for a big glass of sweet tea and lemon and do yourself a favor and order a big slab of ribs. I can’t imagine Mobile without this gem. Service is always extraordinary and very fast for such a popular and busy lunch spot.

Have always wanted to try ribs from dreamland. Decided to stop in when I was passing through town. I eat a lot of ribs from a lot of places and wanted to see how these stacked up. Pros: Portions were a good size. Ordered ½ a rack and it was plenty. The to go order came in a box which made it easier to handle in the car. Server was nice. Cons: Ribs were tough and chewy. I understand that not everyone likes them falling off the bone, but these were massively under cooked. Probably needed another 30 minutes to an hour in the smoker. Flavor was ok. Not a lot of rub or smokiness. The sauce is tangy and while it’s not my favorite I could see why people like it. Overall this place delivered on presentation but not on product. I don’t know this for sure but I would guess these ribs are nothing like the original restaurant.

So good! So good! My husband was driving through Mobile to catch up with me in Destin Florida. Upon arrival he went on and on and on about how good this Bar*b*Que was. He happened across it through Google Maps. So on our way back to Texas today we had to stop in. Everything was great! The staff were all friendly and inviting and being from Texas we know good sweet tea when we find it, and Dreamland has awesome sweet tea! We ordered family size ribs, beans & coleslaw and we couldn’t skip the great banana pudding! I did leave wondering how the pecan pie taste. Maybe next time!

I enjoyed Father’s Day with my toddler and hubby here. Pros Nice and hardworking servers. (The ones who helped us). Delicious sides and stellar sweet tea! Pulled pork was AWESOME. Great ambiance, large inside! The outside doesn’t do it justice. Banana Pudding is a MUST to top it all off. So good! Get it even if it’s just the $ 2 one! Cons Ribs were so-so. I was a little disappointed about that actually. It was somewhat dry. My hubby didn’t have any issues with it. It was really dirty/messy on the floors etc. I’m sure it was because of the rush of Father’s Day lunch.(We came for late lunch/early dinner). No one greeted us at the door/within a few minutes of walking in. My husband actually had to go up to the person at the bar(who btw clearly saw us come in and didn’t say a word). This is customer service 101 – I thought we were gonna have a horrible time there when no one said Hi or directed us(turns out it was self-seating. Didn’t know because again no one acknowledged us.) glad we stayed, but what about the other people who don’t stay long enough to find that the place really has some decent service and food? Overall, 4 stars!

Excellent choice for lunch in mobile, the $ 7.95 plate isn’t a bad price but is about light on the meat. the pork was awesome and highly recommend. Got the potato salad, was a it spicy’r that I normally like but not bad overall. would def eat here again. Very busy during lunch and the parking is limited.

The staff was friendly and the food was just ok. They only have one type of sauce and the Mac and cheese was terrible. It reminded me of school cafeteria Mac and cheese that’s an unnatural color and too soft. The bbq itself was ok– the ribs got the best review from our group. However– the banana pudding gave my sweet grandma run for her money. It was amazing and homemade.

I have given a glowing review to the original. This Dreamland will suffice for good food, but pales in comparison to the divey essence of Tuscaloosa’s gem. The sauce is still king, but the meat does not compare. Still, best sauce in Alabama.

Amazing flavors! Excellent service! My only complaint is that the ribs were VERY tough. I mean the flavors are on point, but I literally had to tear the meat off the bone. I would really like to try their ribs after being smoked for an extra two hours. The chicken was delicious, and Holy Crap that Banana Pudding is incredible! Honestly if it weren’t for REALLY tough ribs, I’d give this place 5 stars. Regardless, I most certainly will be back, and definitely recommend giving it a try.

Sliced pork with their sauce is the way to go. Always get a quart of that sauce to go. You could put it on a boot and it would be fantastic. Banana pudding is ridiculously good.

The service was wonderful. BBQ pretty good. I can say comparable to The Shed back home in MS. Price is reasonable. Food comes out quick! Place is huge. Has that old southern BBQ charm.

I have been hearing about dreamland for many years. The mobile alabama location is about a 15 minute drive from downtown Mobile. The first thing I noticed about this restaurant was that there is no beef option at all. It is pork or chicken, that’s it. With that being said we tried the ribs, the pork sandwich, and the kids got chicken tenders and a pork sandwich. The ribs were good and the pork was pretty good too but nothing outstanding, and nothing that would make me come back. The place was kind of dirty and not very well maintained. The service, however, was excellent. Our server was spot on for everything. I guess it’s worth a try if you’ve never been there, but there are better options out there.

The smoky taste of their pork ribs with the spicy BBQ sauce they put is a delicious combination. The chicken was very tasty too. Second time here & won’t be the last!
