Zenko Sushi

This is not bad. Great fish, great sake, great experience. What a good selection of items — if I had to say something about my four stars my only gripe would be that they did not have my seared salmon. They had seared tuna but that is it. I like my seared salmon. Also, the albacore tuna roll would be the perfect one if it had a better balance of tuna and albacore and some garlic chips would make it the perfect one. However, that’s just nitpicking and otherwise it was delicious/​would go back again

We used to come here all the time but haven’t for a few months. Came last night for AYCE and it seems things have really changed. Sushi was small, fish over the rolls was small and thin, eel was cold, sushi chef kept coughing and clearing his throat over the rolls he was making. Needless to say, I don’t think we’ll be back.

Oh came here for lunch and I was surprised how good it was for AYCE they really didn’t lower the quality. A lot of the fish was precut but the quality was still good. I had so much different types of tuna I was feeling great! Thought the waiters and waitresses kept standing around but otherwise food was great. I am a new frequent customer as this is now my new favorite sushi spot.

New ownership and it was horrible. We were literally served the smallest pieces of fish on the biggest pieces of rice ever. This place used to be great, now the new owners must be trying to pinch every penny they could because the food was terrible. The 1 star is for the service because it was decent. We will never go back to Zenko. It’s a shame.

I don’t really understand all the good reviews. This is probably the worst AYCE I’ve eaten. The fish for the sushi was paper thin. I understand it’s AYCE but there was so little fish I couldn’t even taste it! Also the sushi rice was very sour in my opinion. This also added to the fact that I could not taste anything. The rolls were pretty good but the sushi really disappointed me. I basically paid 25 dollars for sour rice.

Love this place. They open for dinner at 5pm and by 530 you are waiting for a table. Food presentation is great and sushi is really great. love their spicy tuna hand roll

Nothing beats all you can eat! My favorite is the Dragon Roll. They have a few tv’s and lots of seating area. The sushi bar is a bit small, but I have never had trouble getting a table here. This place is also great for groups. I like that it’s located by the movie theater, because what’s better than sushi and a movie? The pricing is fair, it’s not more or less expensive than other all you can eat sushi restaurants. I’ll be back!

Gave this place another chance since it was so close to both mine and my fiends place. Still horrible. The service sucks, it’s not clean, and the quality is just not good enough for me to pay $ 25 a person for AYCE.

Zenko is my go-​to for all you can eat sushi. I could eat 10 plates of the jalapeño roll alone. Will always come here when I have a few extra $$s to get all you can eat.

Zenko Sushi is a GREAT place to take some family and/​or friends out for dinner. Zenko has fair prices, good appetizers, the bathrooms are clean, and the sushi is excellent. The hand rolls are tasty, even though the majority of the roll is a HUGE ball of rice… the sushi is very fresh. However, the only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the forgetful waiters. A member of our party had to order her appetizers twice because the waiter forgot and gave her appetizers to another table. Other than that, I’m in love with this place.

I went here with my gf and her family. I ordered the dragon roll which was amazing, and the crunch roll, it was ok, I didn’t care for the crab meat too much.
Everyone got the all you can’t eat, so we tried about everything. Service was good, food was good. We will be returning!

I come here for AYCE sushi everytime, and i LOVE THIS PLACE. I think ordering nigiri is more worth the AYCE price, but I can never resist ordering rolls…
I always get the mussel and edamame to start off the meal.

Fish is good, service is fast, they have a lot of choices, and the price is good. There’s nothing I can complain about this place.

Everything was delicious and I would eat here again in a heart beat — if I didn’t live in SF. Glad my fiancé family lives here because that means I can come every time I visit!

Good all you can eat Sushi with fast service. One of our favorites in the area.

To be honest, this place is an ok sushi restaurant. It definitely gets rid of your cravings, but won’t satisfy it. The price for the «All You Can Eat» is a little pricey due to their sushi quality. The «crunchy» bits that they add to the rolls with «crunch» isn’t really crunchy. Their eel sauce is a tad to sweet. I would recommend rolls that do not have any kind of crunch to it here. For example: Philadelphia Roll or California Roll.

It’s actually quite funny because the restaurant is owned by Koreans but they act Japanese. Overall nice group of people! Just their sushi is meh

I’ve been coming here for years. Their all you can eat special is what keeps me coming back. I always recommend this place to all my friends because I truly feel that this is the best sushi place in south Orange County.
The service and environment are both friendly and inviting. My only qualm with the restaurant is that sometimes there can be a wait when coming here for dinner. But the food is definitely worth the wait.

Well — I came in on Saturday afternoon, for their «all you can eat» special. I’m a big time lover of sushi/​sashimi, so I was super excited!
Unfortunately those hopes were dashed by the crappy sushi that was served to me. I had 2 rolls, and 5 orders (2 per order) of nigiri (salmon roe, yellowtail, escolar, tuna, and salmon). All of it was pretty subpar: the rice was on the drier side, and the fish quality was probably somewhere equivalent to supermarket prepared sushi.
The capper of this entire horrible culinary experience was when, in separate instances, I had the cashier, and a waitress (NOT even the one who waited on us!) come over and threaten to charge me at the separate menu price for sashimi, because I refused to eat the crappy rice under the fish in the nigiri.
Overall, if you have ever had good California sushi/​sashimi, DONT COME HERE.
Edit: my server, a younger guy (don’t remember his name) was fantastic. Attentive, prompt, polite, good — natured, etc. This place still sucks, but at least it has the one good server.

Overall, I would give this place somewhere between 3 – 3.5 stars. It’s one of the best places around for AYCE sushi, but how good is AYCE? The answer is, it’s never good. If you are a sushi fiend like myself, you know to avoid these places. Anyways, I was forced to come here with several friends and immediately dreaded it. I almost opted to not do AYCE but didn’t want to be the hassle out of the whole group. Dinner is about $ 27 and you can order from an appetizer menu and a limited sushi/​roll menu. The service is pretty good, but I don’t think the servers could really love their job in an environment like this. Our group of 8 only waited about 10 minutes for a table, which was surprising because I have heard of the long lines.
FOOD: 3.5 stars.
I’m being generous in consideration of this place being AYCE. I was surprised at the large cuts of fish they gave with the orders of nigiri. To start, we ordered 15 orders of salmon nigiri (30 pieces), 15 orders of tuna nigiri (30 pieces), and 20 orders of albacore nigiri (40 pieces). They were all pretty consistent with the amount of rice vs the size of fish. The rolls were pretty decent, as well. I’m not a huge fan of rolls, but I thought that the Go-​Go roll was excellent and one of the best ones we ordered. We ended up having A LOT of food that night (re: my pictures), and they were pretty consistent for the few hours we were there.
SERVICE: 4 stars.
Great service, just looked over-​worked. They came to our table pretty often to check on us and brought us everything we needed without hesitating, which was nice.
AMBIANCE: 3 stars.
This place needs an update.
Overall, I probably wouldn’t come here again for non-​AYCE sushi. If I was forced to come to an AYCE sushi place, I would choose Zenko.

$ 25 AYCE sushi. Nuff said.
Don’t expect top notch quality and amazing sushi. There’s no way.
However, if you want sushi, you’re hungry and don’t want to spend a fortune, you really can’t complain about this place.
The sushi is good (for the price) and the rolls are pretty creative and also very good.

Service was very good. Extra points for the service staff. There was alot of servers and they were on full alert. Filling water, clearing plates off the table, taking sushi orders. The servers were Great! The sushi chefs were slow. Try to order your round 2 and 3 ahead, so you are not waiting and tapping your shoes on the floor. Dummmm de dummmm
The Spicy City hand roll was not good. It didn’t taste like tuna, the spicy sauce over powered the tuna taste. I would not order this again.
The eel was so so. Some parts of the eel was sorta hard and I found a couple of tiny fish bones in a couple of pieces.
The best was the yellow tail. It was really fresh and had a really fresh looking color on it.
Everything else we ordered was all good. The baked mussels, salmon roe, tuna, salmon, escolar, etc. Were all really good. The sushi pieces did not have too much rice with each piece, so that was good.
To the sport fans: There are 4 flat screen TVs to satisfy all your sporting needs. The restaurant is nice too. If you ask, they will change the channels for you.
