We love British 4X4! They are very honest and always do great work. Joe knows what he is doing. Definitely bring your car into them!

I’m from out of town and they were nice enough to accommodate an issue I encountered with my LR3. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

My Range Rover was stuck in low range and I nursed it over to British 4×4 at 430pm on a Friday, just 30 minutes before they were closing. Chris and his team managed to recalibrate the computer and take it out of low range. I was charged 1.5 hours of labor, and left with the car without having to buy any parts.

Chris at British 4 by 4 will take care you your Land Rover. My first oil change was practically free and I appreciated his honesty and professionalism. I highly recommend them.

We were locked out of our Rover Discovery and not even aaa roadside pro tow truck referral could get in. Chris was supper nice and professional. They broke in using some trick macgiver like skill with a camera and without breaking anything fixed our broken handle mechanism, re set the alarm all for much less than the dealer and great turn around. I needed a mass air flow sensor for my 04 discovery. Joe had it waiting for me the next day and they helped me with the installation. Very fair price also.

I have been taking my 2003 Range Rover to British 4×4 for years now. Joe, the owner, has always been very honest and helpful to me. With a 2003 Range Rover, I need a good mechanic – and Joe fits the bill perfectly (i.e. has the qualities and experience necessary to do the job right). Bottom line: British 4×4 keeps me on the road in a luxury automobile I can actually afford. I would recommend British 4×4 to anyone.

Thank goodness for Joe & his team. He has always been incredibly honest and professional in taking care of any any issue I have ever had with my vehicle. I was extremely disappointed with the service on my 2004 Discovery. I have had work done in the past with no problems, as long as Joe (the owner) performed the work. The past three visits/​jobs were performed by his assistant mechanic (Sergio) with less than perfect results. I brought my LR in due to an oil leak on three seperate occasions, with no resolution. The third time I was billed for an oil filter and gasket to solve the problem. To my disappointment, upon arriving home (thirty miles away) I looked under the truck and found the same oil leak as well as the same oil filter! It was never changed. (the filter had the date and previous mechanics initials) I have doubts regarding parts replaced as well as work performed. I have since had Euro West Land Rover in Costa Mesa fix the oil leak in one visit! Overall, extermely disappointed that British 4×4 allowed a LR to leave without inspecting the work performed as well as charging a customer for parts that were not replaced!

I have purchased parts from British 4×4 in the past as I am a bit of a DIY kind of guy. But, when I get in touble as I recently did, I need a professional to do what I can’t do. Just brought my ‘02’ Discovery in for a complete diagnostic test and some serious noises coming from under the truck. Turns out I had bad U-​joints and they fixed me up. I was stoked it was not something huge, but from the diagnostics I need a head job… but was already aware of the issue. Very satisfied with their work and price. Their labor is $ 95 per hour if you are shopping around. Land Rover dealership across the street who I dislike greatly… see my reviews about them. Joe is the owner and head mechanic of British 4×4 and he did a great job. Will be sure to update as it goes back for brakes in two weeks and then the head gasket. That one is going to leave a mark on my bank account. Very happy so far.

I had a great experience. I purchased a used 2003 Discovery SE7 and it developed an oil leak. I called the local Land Rover dealer and they could not get me in for 10 days. I called British 4×4 and was able to get in the next day. The leak was just a bad seal around a screw. They fixed it and only had to pay for the oil change!
I would recommend you give them a try, the owner is hands on and appears to have a strong referral base of repeat customers.

A recent experience raises questions. British 4×4 told me in April 2006 that my 1999 Discovery II engine block was irreparably damaged (slipped cylinder sleeves) and needed replacement for $ 5,000 to $ 8,000. They made this diagnosis without opening the engine.
Three other mechanics told me it is not possible or credible to reach this diagnosis without opening it up. So I had Euro West Land Rover in Costa Mesa open it to inspect. Block was fine. They did a valve job (under $ 2k), and the car has run just fine for a thousand miles now. [Update Jan 2010: still running fine, 30,000 miles later.]
I prefer to conclude British 4×4 simply made a mistake — one that would have cost me several thousand dollars.
Prior to this, I had been there five or six times, and received good service at a good price.
