Courtyard Sandestin at Grand Boulevard

Nice, clean hotel with beautiful beaches nearby…
4 downsides:
1. Being waking distance to the beach was the main reason we stayed here, so we were disappointed to find out that it’s a 3+ mile walk (on a main road). Unfortunately, there’s a private residence blocking nearby beach access.
2. You can hear loud traffic from the pool and hot tub, which isn’t very relaxing.
3. It took a 5 – 7 minutes for the elevator to come, even though there are only 5 floors.
4. There isn’t any bottled water in the room, so we had to run out in the middle of the night for it.
I usually love Marriott and I’m a rewards member, but wouldn’t stay at this location again…

This was the worst experience. When traveling I understood the hotel was not located on the beach which was completely fine. My issue with this hotel was the lack of customer service! The person next door to us kept knocking on the connecting door, and attempted to open it several times. We called down to the front desk and expressed concern, management said they’d call us back and we did not hear back. The next day it happened again, and it was really late at night. We called down and requested to change rooms or we were leaving. And they did. They moved us to a room and the phones there wasn’t working. It was pretty terrifying because we were a couple of young girls, and to have a feeling someone is trying to get into your room and to know management could care less is awful! I do not recommend this hotel at all. If I could rate it as 0 stars I would.

Pros: Beds are comfortable, linens are clean, service is friendly, water pressure and temperature in the shower were the best I’ve had at a hotel ever, walking distance from fine dining and shopping, pool, and a nice lobby!
Cons: The wifi was agonizingly slow, breakfast/​snacks are not complimentary and are insanely overpriced, no remote control guide, meaning you have to scroll through many, many channels, and they didn’t have mints on the front desk, what kind of hotel doesn’t have mints?
Overall: I enjoyed my one-​night stay here, but I could definitely see some flaws with my stay. If you decide to stay here, expect to use your cellular data, their wifi was the worst.

Very clean and welcoming. Off season so a great bargain if you are looking to shop and relax Next to Applebee’s and a Starbucks satellite in the hotel

Fantastic property. We stay at Marriott exclusively, this hotel stood out from the rest in so many ways. When I called to confirm my room I mentioned it was my birthday. Upon checking in the very friendly front desk team said «isn’t it your birthday» it surprised me that it was even noted. We were given several suggestions to restaurants and went up to our spotless room. Upon our return from dinner we found a bottle of wine and a beautiful tray with happy birthday written in chocolate and a bowl of fresh strawberries and chocolate to go with the wine (also a hand written birthday card). Put all of that aside, the room was very spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was large with an extra large shower, the lobby was excellent and comfy, so comfy we watched the SEC final football game with other guests in the lobby. The staff were extra friendly and the location of the property was perfect for shipping, eating and the beach. great job!

The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was very nice, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The location is a bit removed from the heart of SanDestin and the beaches. The existence of a bistro is nice, but there is plenty to eat in the area. The Applebee’s next to the hotel was nice so we could drink without worrying about driving. However, that is all that is around. So, to really recap, the hotel itself is very nice, but the location leaves a lot to be desired.

The staff was awesome. Very nice clean hotel. Not far from the beach. Definitely would stay here again when visiting Destin.

WAY overpriced!
DON’T stay here if you want to go to the beach! I was mislead by hotel staff — you really have to drive (about 15min) to the nearest beaches, but because of severe parking limitations, the beaches to the west (Miramer, Walton, etc.) are effectively off-​limits to tourists. Santa Rosa is to the east, and that was reasonably accessible, but I wish the staff had made this clear when I specifically asked about the parking situation!
Other problems —
Internet access is terrible! They will make you pay for faster connection if you want to stream movies onto your computer.
No On-​Demand movies!
No DVD player or equivalent in the rooms! (This is 2015??)
Why have a spa for adults when a bunch of poorly behaved kids are going to splash around the whole time?
Elevators! There are only 2, and both are slow as all hell!
The Starbucks is terrible! Food options are minimal at best.
The lobby & fitness center are pretty nice, though. I’ll give them that.
In a nutshell, we really regret staying here.
Just use AirBNB to rent a condo near the beach!

I stayed here for one night, and the little time I was here I liked it. I feel like I can never go wrong with a Courtyard Marriott no matter what city I’m in! So my 5 stars goes to my clean room, clean fitness center and fresh strawberries!

Newer Courtyard. Warm greeting upon arrival and check-​in took less than 2 minutes. Great and huge lobby with plenty of room to spread out. Our room was very quite. Only drawback was the size of the room.

It was… ok. Obviously overpriced, and the bistro inside was beyond subpar and woefully expensive. 7 dollars for a Coors Light? Am I at a Yankees game? Ridiculous.
What bothered me, is that in this day and age, to offer internet that tops out at dial-​up speeds is insane. And this isn’t just wireless, their wired internet was equally horrible.
So, if you are staying here for business and need internet, like a normal human being, turn away from here and FLEE. FLEE

Worst place ever I come here with my family and the room is small, the food is terrible, and the hotel is far from the beach

We were here for a short visit of three nights. We were greeted with big, friendly smiles, and our check-​in was quick and easy.
Our room was very nicely prepared, and we were able to settle in. One note: when we first entered the room, we noticed a strong deodorizer smell. We opened the balcony door and let the room «air our» for about 20 minutes, which helped a lot. The next day, we asked the front desk staff to direct housekeeping to nit use the deodorizer; they did not use it again and we had not further issue with it. We appreciated the staff’s ability to communicate with housekeeping and take care of that for us; some hotels can’t get simple things like that done.
IMPORTANT: Marriott Platinum Elite Members do not get a free breakfast here. I drove west about 2-​miles to a local Panera Bread and enjoyed a bagel and coffee there.
The beaches are only 2 – 3 miles away.
Our stay was uneventful, which is a good thing. We highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again.

Stayed here for a wedding. Was not disappointed. Good location and nice hotel. Lots to do, just down the street. This place is clean and they have nice beds. Nice lobby.

Very disappointing. I have been staying at Marriotts for years, all over the world & this one was probably the least impressive.
I arrived in the area very early (9am) & called the hotel asking for an early check in (normally 4pm). They said they would do the best they could. I got a call about noon saying my room was ready.
When I checked in the staff was friendly, but there were no bellman to help with my car full of luggage. The front desk handed me a few pamphlets & mentioned a few local attractions.
The elevator was SO SLOW! It was ridiculous, only having 2 elevators for the entire hotel. The room was comfortable & seemed pretty clean & I had a magnificent view of the parking lot. I stayed here 3 nights & not one of those nights was my room cleaned, no beds made, no clean towels, no shampoo refills. After the first night I double checked the door & the do not disturb sign was not on the door. I made absolutely sure it wasn’t on there the next two nights & still nothing. I was too busy to call down & complain but I will surely follow up with the GM.
The only real perk to this hotel is there is a full size mini fridge in the room, which is helpful since breakfast of any kind is not included in the room price.
There is no shuttle to & from the beach & the sunshine shuttle doesn’t make a stop here. Luckily I had friends staying at the hilton across the way so I used that hotel for beach access.
Over all I would recommend this hotel as long as you a) don’t care about a view b) are prepared to buy your own breakfast c) don’t want easy beach access d) are ok with calling room service to make sure they clean your room every day

We booked this hotel only a week before we needed. I seemed to be the last decent hotel left in Destin in early August 2013. The price per night was as high as a 5 star hotel but it seemed to be more like a 3 to 4 star.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff at this hotel. I believe it took no longer than a minute or two to check in and go up to our room. Other than checking you in, they don’t offer any other goodies that most other hotels offer. I asked about the nearby beaches, and the guy gave me a map and highlighted a couple of beaches that he thought were nice.
The lobby area includes a bar and several tables where you can relax while enjoying a drink or a snack. I saw several people using their laptops on some of the sofas. There are many many areas where you can sit. There are a couple of TVs where you can sit down and enjoy a game.
When it comes to the views, this place falls short. You can either get a view of the street or the parking lots. You will not be impressed by anything in the surrounding areas from you balcony.
One of my biggest complaints about this place is the elevators. They only have one per side. Sometimes we had to wait a few minutes before it would come. And once it got there, it would take so long to take us to our floor. That can really suck when it gets full and you have to wait for it to come back around.
As far as the rooms go, they seemed very clean. The sheets and everything seemed very fresh and clean. I didn’t notice any bad odors like some hotels.
Also note that the beaches nearby this hotel are not Destin Beaches. You’ll have to drive like 12 miles to go to the beaches in Destin.
I would go back again for a much lower rate than I paid.

Stayed here for 2 straight weeks during a business trip. This is NOT a good place to stay for more than a couple of days. That’s not to say this isn’t a good hotel. I enjoyed the service, the staff, the amenities, and location. However, because there is no microwave or fridge provided in any of the rooms, this is not a good hotel for folks staying a while. Where do you think you will store your leftover food from the restaurant or re-​heat it? They give you a chiller, which is a mini-​mini fridge that’s only cold enough to cool down some bottled water or sodas. There is a microwave down near the reception desk but that’s a hassle to have to run down there to heat up food.
They do have a snack shop that sells sodas, snacks, and microwaveable food. I guess this is the reason they don’t give you a fridge and microwave in your room. I had planned to buy some frozen food to keep in my room so I wouldn’t have to eat out every day during my long trip.
The hotel lobby area is beautiful. The bar staff are great and friendly. Had quite a few drinks down there after some stressful days at work. The bar serves some decent food, too. Plenty of televisions and computers down there to keep you entertained or connected.
The pool was nice and stays open late (which is good if you’re on vacation; bad for me since the vacationing kids would be up late screaming while I tried to sleep). Unfortunately, it was vacation season so there were no more open rooms for me to be switched to away from the pool. Fortunately, that loud family left the hotel after the first weekend.
The fitness room is small like most hotels. A few weight machines, treadmills, and two PowerBlox adjustable dumbbells.
The hotel is near a popular shopping, dining, and entertainment area which was within walking distance. My co-​workers and I would walk down to the wine shop for cigars and drinks. There’s also a Publix there if you want to buy bottled water to keep in your room’s chiller.
Make sure you check your receipt at check-​out. They tacked on several phone charges to my account even though I never used the phone in my room. Now that I think about it, it might’ve been the cleaning staff?
I’d stay here again if I had to. We were only here because we booked our work trip so late and all of our other options were booked up. Again, the staff were all great. Bethany at the front desk was very sweet and cute and made sure I had all I needed during my long stay. The female bartender (forgot her name) knew how to make all the drinks I ordered and was very friendly.
Bonus: there’s a Marriott Residence a short walk away on the other side of the traffic circle that allowed me to shoot baskets on their basketball court since both our hotels are Marriotts.

First off, let me say that I didn’t even stay here, but what I did have was a reservation. I was traveling to Destin and located a place to stay at a different location so I cancelled my reservation at the Courtyard. Or at least, I thought I did. A few days later, I checked my credit card statement and saw that I had a $ 260 charge for that night. When I checked my email to pull up that cancellation confirmation, it was nowhere to be found.
In the Marriott system, there was no cancellation for that reservation. I had no record of it in my email either. I thought for sure that Marriott was going to charge me for the room since I didn’t have a leg to stand on. However, when I called and talked to the manager and explained what happened, he refunded the full amount of that night. I couldn’t believe it. So I would say, thank you for the great service, I am a loyal marriott member, and it’s reasons like this that I keep coming back.

Came to the Courtyard Marriott Sandestin at Grand Boulevard for a two night stay. It was very comfortable, modern, and updated!
Service — Exceptional Service. The Management at this hotel really know who to hire, and how to train them. Each employee that I ran into at the Front Desk were all very knowledgeable, friendly, and did everything with a smiling demeanor! Special shout-​out to Kaisha, Lyza, and Joanne for making my mini-​staycation great.
Check-​In — I drove down from Orlando, and Lyza checked me in. The lobby is newly redone and is beautiful! She advised me that there were rooms available for early check-​in, so she assisted me right away. After she checked me in, she stepped out of the Front Desk area, to provide me with my check-​in materials. She thoroughly provided me with directions on how to get to my room and explained everything that they had to offer!
Room — I stayed in their standard room. We were put on the 5^th floor, and had a wonderful pool view. When staying at resorts, I always like to check the mattress for bugs before I head to bed. I found that the mattress was relatively new, and the sheets were clean and comfortable. The bed was also great to sleep on. The room had a «cooler» that is not meant to refrigerate anything, but just to cool things… (Literally what the sign said on it.) That was fine, as we just kept drinks in it, but keep that in mind if bringing food, etc. The room provided a coffee maker with regular and decaf coffee and tea.
Bathroom — The bathroom was average sized. The water pressure was pretty good, and it was clean overall!
Hotel Amenities and Features — They had a pool, hot tub, and a gym. We utilized the hot tub pretty frequently as the pool was very very very very cold. (The pool is not heated.) They also have several conference rooms if that is something that you need.
Restaurant — Overpriced. The food here was pretty good, but overpriced. They serve their Starbucks products ²⁴⁄₇. Simply ask a Front Desk Agent to assist you if no one is there.
Overall, this was a great experience! If I come visit soon, I’ll definitely consider staying here again.

I was shocked how expensive this Marriott was. We arrived in Destin around 1 A.M. and needed a place to spend the night. I figured since the hotel was not on the beach it would be fairly inexpensive. Tropical Storm Debby had scared away most of the tourists so the parking lot was half empty when we arrived. The guy at the front desk claimed there were no discounts and he could only offer us a standard priced king sized bedroom on the first floor (with no view) for $ 230+. After stating that we were Marriott reward members and AAA members we finally received a small discount with our AAA membership. (Had we not brought up AAA we would not have received the discount.)
Our first floor room included a king bed with living room/​desk area and a view of the parking lot. The bar area had a small cooler unit, but the sticker on the cooler stated it was not a refrigerator so I wouldn’t have stored anything perishable in the cooler for more than a few hours. The bathroom was nice and large, but I found the toiletries were very disappointing. The «hydrating» shampoo left my hair feeling like straw. Although the bathroom was clean I did notice there was black mold forming the bottom of the shower curtain.
The hotel fitness center was small, but offered the basics for a quick cardio or weight lifting workout. The fitness center was kept at a pleasant 65 degrees and offered towels and a water cooler. The pool area was very disappointing. It overlooked the parking lot and was very small.
As mentioned, the breakfast is $ 10. My husband said the food was nothing special so I skipped breakfast and drank the complimentary coffee in the lobby. There are no lunch or dinner options at the hotel, but there is an Apple Bees in the parking lot. If you drive 15 minutes up the road there are more restaurant options.
Overall, I would not stay here again. The hotel served it’s purpose as a place to sleep, but if I was visiting the beach I would spend the money to stay at a hotel directly on the beach.
