Top notch Thai on the fly! Hands down one of my favorite Thai places. I’ve had alot of things here but love their curry dishes. And if you want it blazing spicy hot just ask for it when you order. You will not be disappointed. Would I take a date out to eat here though? Naw, the presentation and decorum leaves alot to be desired. If you have a gf/bf that loves food/is a foodie, definitely treat them to this place, but get it to go. Price is decent and portions are good.

The Pad Thai and house special spring rolls are life changing they are so good. Not the hugest portions but the quality is well above anything else in the area.

Craving me some Thai and had to stop after work today for take-out. LOVE the chicken curry and the special egg rolls with peanut sauce. About $ 15 for my order of these 2 items, and it’s a least 2 meals for me with the portions received. Check it out once, and you will find yourself going back for more. :)

Décor and atmosphere is kinda trashy and dated but service pretty good Started with cream cheese wontons — tasty Spring rolls were fresh and generous portion for cost I chose beef pad Thai; beef was tasty but beef to noodle ratio was a bit off and there was a ton of noodles. My guy chose beef laab nua which was apparently also tasty and quite spicy. Pretty tasty and good value for money. Probably take-out next time.

Excellent food. Very surprised and while the service was not super slick the food was worth it. Eggs rolls excellent and the chicken and curries were possibly the best flavored we have eaten for a long time. Glad we rolled the dice on this place

We love the food at the Taste of Thailand, have visited both the Minneapolis location and the location in Fridley, both have décor that leave something to be desired, but the food is what we go there for… service is quick, friendly, love the spring rolls, servings are large enough to be able to share or plan for leftovers. Prices are reasonable and really appreciate having this option in the suburbs. Our favorites are the Laab Nua and the Laab Gai.

What a rare gem in the northern suburbs. Please head over here before you ever think about another chinese buffet… Food made to order, authentic, amazing service. And when they say spicy… it’s spicy! You will leave very satisfied and happy you didn’t spend a fortune.

I still love Taste of Thailand since I wrote my original review a year ago, but I have to knock off some stars given several experiences over the past year. Don’t get me wrong — we still go here somewhat regularly because it’s pretty good Thai food for the ‘burbs, but a few things have had us venturing more to Karta Thai which is further away in Columbia Heights. 1. They are incredibly inconsistent with their hours and answering the phone. I have called at 6 pm on weekdays and weeknights and no one answers. Now, I realize they may be busy, but to call three or four times and not have anyone answer? Come on. Also, they really will just close whenever they feel like it. 2. The curry’s are pretty excellent — which is now pretty much exclusively what I get — but the fried rice has been overcooked the last few times my husband has gotten it, as has the pad thai. Overcooked grains are just not appealing. 3. The appetizers are somewhat subpar. The chicken satay has been overly burnt the last few times we have ordered it and the fried tofu is really unspectacular(especially when compared to the amazing HH fried tofu at Roat Osha). The fresh spring rolls are the best appetizer on the menu, though they aren’t the«best» like they claim.(Seriously, them calling their spring rolls the best in the Cities is like that scene in «Elf» when he is excited to have the«best coffee in NYC» at some dingy diner). We only ever order takeout, but the inside could certainly use a little updating. Overall, Taste of Thailand has some high points(seriously, the curry’s are really good, especially the red curry!) but it has lost some of its original luster in the eyes of this Thai-food obsessed suburban resident.

The food was great. The waiter wasn’t the greatest. All of our plates came out separately and took time in between. There were four of us eating and by the time that I got my food, the last to arrive, the first person was nearly done with theirs. I’ll be back but probably for takeout.

Off the menu food is alright. The lunch buffet is quite good and a good deal for the money. It had real Thai food in the buffet and not Chinese food. Note: this place is a little run down so it is not a good choice for a first date.

I work near the Taste of Thailand. It is fantastic Thai food and the service is great. We often will order for lunch and they are super speedy in getting our order ready. I’m seriously addicted to their spring rolls. Highly recommend!

Oops — meant sawadee Thai in St. Paul. Took me here. Unilocal sucks. Clearly restaurants that pay Unilocal are only ones that show up.

Best chicken curry and tom yum soup ever! If you love a mixture of spicy and sour, you must try the tom yum soup! The restaurant has a great blend of Thai and Laos food around, if you have not been to this restaurant it is a definite must!

It pains me to give them this crappy review. I’ve been eating here with my wife for years… for years even before the previous owner sold it. I only eat ONE thing: beef curry. Sometimes I throw in a soup and some sort of egg roll or spring roll. But the beef curry is my old standby. I can always count on it being really good. I haven’t been there for about a year. Here’s what happened THIS time… GOOD: The service was decent.(The service is always decent.) The special egg rolls were good. The tea was good. BAD: The beef curry was super watery(more like soup) and only had three small morsels of beef in it. What a rip off! It’s obvious they’re cutting back on ingredients. Are they in financial trouble? I peeked at the buffet. It was pretty lame.(The buffet was always pretty lame.) The buffet ended 2 hours prior but no one lifted a finger to break it down… but plenty of time to screw around on the cell phone. Lazy? To top it off, the servers have turned one table into some sort of study desk; they do paperwork and watch TV there. It’s piled up with crap. The ceiling tiles are stained and gross. The carpet is disgusting. I actually saw old chunks of food sitting at the base of the emergency exit. You get the idea. There’s been a definite downward slide. Now I understand why there are less cars in the parking lot when I drive by everyday. My wife told me not to go because of the car thing but I ignored her. She was right. –Daddy Maxx Retro

This place may be a «shithole» but it’s a shithole that serves awesome Thai food. Their fresh spring rolls and tom yum soup are amazing! The quality of the food is very good and very fresh ingredients. Some of the servers are better than others but its not that big of a deal. The pad thai is really good and their cold thai tea’s they have are really good. Don’t let the appearance scare you. They look dead a lot of the time(except during the lunch buffet served M-F) but they do a lot of take out orders.

Wah! Great place for authentic Thai food. Strange little tables arranged in the front, plants around the place, and unique tiny atmosphere. I had the Duck Curry soup and poured that over my rice and chomped the whole thing down. DELICIOUS!!! Curry and coconut is my thing. Check this place out. Fabulous!

I can admit that when I go here I only order two things special egg rolls(not regular) and the pineapple fried rice and I love it and don’t want order anything else. I have ordered a shrimp curry dish that they made special order for me, but I am to addicted to my egg rolls and pineapple rice. But, I do appreciate the time they did that special order b/c it was delicious. Anyway, the décor is ugly but the food is around 3 – 4 dollars for an app. and 8 – 12 per entrée and I think that $ 15/per person for app and entrée is a steal in my opinion. If you do want to try the pineapple rice realize it comes in spicy levels 1 – 5. I have gotten myself up to a three. In regards to the special egg rolls, just try them they are soooo good. I think they have received awards for them before if I am not mistaken. Either way, their good. Try it out.
