History

Established in 1989.

We’ve been in the business for over 20 years. We started out in Minneapolis in 1989 and was there for 10 years while receiving multiple awards for best Thai food in the Twin Cities. Then moved to Roseville in 2000 where we were voted into the top 100 Thai restaurants in the US by Thai people and the only one from Minnesota by Thai Food magazine. We recently reopened at this current location in 2012 and hope to continue our award winning Thai food.

I’ve had a hard time finding a Thai dish that really suits me, so I tried the Pad Siew and it was amazing! Great service, clean and colorful environment. I’ll definitely be back!

Awesome Thai with lots of Vegan options (vegan curry!) which can be hard to find in Minneapolis. It’s kinda far but worth the drive. Always a chill /​quiet vibe in there and not super busy. Fair prices and perfect portions. Quick and nice service. We were even given a free bday appetizer. Make the trip, you will be back. It’s become my go to Thai place.

I visited the Royal Orchid 20 years ago (during a job recruiting lunch) when it was located on Nicollet and and a few times when in Roseville… (the same chef)… in a word outstanding and for my money the best Pad Thai’s in the city bar none… This is traditional Thai home cooking (without the condiment tray) Fresh, infused with flavor spicy and full bodied… Now in rather unasuming quarters on central in NE MPLS… Just tell him Joe sent you!

I just had dinner here at Royal Orchid, and it was awesome! Their menu has a ton of great options too. I ordered the sesame chicken and it was absolutely delicious! Their service was great as well, and very friendly! I will absolutely be coming back in the future. I really like to support small local businesses like these. Great food, great service, nice atmosphere. Their ultimate goal is to make all of their customers happy, and serve delicious food. I would highly recommend you give it a try! You will not be disappointed!

I’m a bit confused by all the glowing reviews. While we had a tasty lunch here, it was certainly nothing out of the ordinary for Thai food.
The interior is kind of rundown-​looking, but our host/​waiter was very pleasant and attentive. The lunch specials are a terrific value, but they’re not particularly large. I would happily pay more for a more filling entrée, or for a small appetizer or soup to start.

I mentioned Royal Orchid to a friend who lives nearby and he’s now completely besotted by them. Occasionally he just texts me to thank me for recommending it to him. This place is that good! You should go and enjoy the authentic food which is clearly prepared with total concentration and care.

I have only tried their Basil fried rice (spicy) and its simply awesome… what i liked the most is they have been consistent with their flavor. and i love it… they have a pretty good serving size… I havent had a chance to try other things in the menu simply because i just cannot go pass the spicy basil fried rice :)…but from what i have seen them serve… it has got to be good… because it smells sooooo goood …:)

The food is fabulous. Authentic and spicy! I had the Thai spicy basil stir fry with tofu and veggies and it was delicious. The tom yum soup was also very fresh and the fresh spring rolls are amazing. Crisp cool veggies with warm shrimp and vermicelli. My husband has the pineapple fried rice, which is also excellent. I will definitely be back.

Very good Thai food! My family was visiting the cities and we wanted to try something out of the norm for our kids. My kids are extremely picky with food, but let me tell you — they ate every last bit at Royal Orchid. One of my kids pleaded with me to give a five star review, and here we are, but I assure you it was well-​earned.
The food was great (the red curry was to die for), service excellent, and the owner made sure to come out and chat us up. We will definitely return!

I can’t even begin to exain how phenomenal the food is. I ordered take out and they went out of their way to deliver and find my location. After taking my first bite I was hooked. The curry is hands down the best I’ve ever had.

I figured I would give this place a second shot after reading all these raving reviews and yet again I am disappointed.
I did order take out of chicken laarb and tofu Pad Siew and both were disappointing. The Laarb I got didn’t even fill half the take out container and it costed me $ 8?! It was almost the same price as the Pad Siew. Food tasted sub par and dry. Maybe I should’ve dined in, that way I would’ve gotten portions made for at least one person.
I guess the hunt for good Thai food in the MSP area continues.
