I’m sure it depends on the time you go but I’ve been a few times including a Saturday night and even though it can feel crowded (it’s a smaller space) the service was decent and the food has always been amazing for bar food. My favorite part about the bar is how many locally brewed beers they have on TAP. $ 2 off for their HH when we went.

Went last night for a special dinner before my son goes back to college, on my hubby’s recommendation. I am NOT PICKY when it comes to restaurants, but was SUPER disappointed by this place. It’s cute and convenient, and took a reservation on a Friday night (so things started out well enough) but both my son and I HATED our meals. The sandwich we both ordered (turkey with avocado) tasted weird, and was nothing special, at all. And the service was terribly slow.
Too bad, because it’s cute, but I won’t be going back ever.

Food was good, server today acted like we were bothering him by being there. Much rather take my business next time I’m in the area to the Red Cow next door.

I went with my mom and aunt. The food was pretty good but the waiter we had was awful. He just seemed stuck up and acted like he was better than us. Another worker had to come over to refill our waters and ask us if the food was good. It took forever to get our bill. The place wasn’t even busy.
We all shared fish tacos, the French onion grilled cheese, and the British chicken kebab sandwich. It was all good besides the fish tacos, it was a little too fishy for my liking and I love fish.
Overall, food was good but service was terrible. I wouldn’t return unless a friend or someone wanted to go.

Found what they called a «piece from a Childs barrette» in my food. How do you think they handled it?
I was there with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend for some socializing and a meal. We had been there twice before with average to good experiences. While I was enjoying my porcini crushed porchetta, which was good but not porchetta, I glanced at my fork on it’s way to my mouth and saw something odd. I asked the waitress who was currently servicing us «what is that?», to which she replied «a mushroom». I pulled a rounded serrated inch long piece of plastic off my fork, handed it to her and informed her that it was not a mushroom. I had two bites left of my meal when I made the discovery.
I understand that stuff happens. Who knows where the piece of plastic came from, I saw no value in raising a stink. I just assumed they would do the right thing. I’m lucky and they’re lucky I spotted it in the mix of items on my fork before biting it, cutting myself on it, breaking a tooth, swallowing it or choking on it. The manager came out and spoke to me and left saying she’ll see what she can do for me. The best she could do is give me a couple of bucks off my meal.
My expectation of the right thing was to apologize and not charge me for the dish. I didn’t expect them to cover everyone meal or our drinks, but 20% off the meal made it seam like they’re kind of hard up to make a buck at any cost.
I don’t blame anyone for it being in my food in the first place. Life is not perfect and stuff happens. I’ll judge them on how they handle it once it happens, and in this instance they failed. I will not be back.

Highly recommend the Curry Cauliflower Korma Soup, it is the perfect fall soup along with the Pig and Fiddle Burger which was not cooked rare but prepared nicely. The overall experience was pleasant. Great service (thanks Clare), low-​key atmosphere, & great menu. I will be back next time with a more adventurous appetite.

I stopped here for lunch and drinks. The bartender, Grant, greeted me immediately and was very attentive. He was able to make suggestions and recommendations based on my preferences. I had to try their unique korma soup and half sandwich off the lunch menu. The soup was a curry cauliflower, chicken and veggie mixture. I truly enjoyed the flavors, but it is a small cup serving. The chef was amazing and added something to my sandwich that I just love. The glazed onions were a sweet touch, to jazz up a basic grilled cheese sandwich.
To quench my thirst, I had a dark porter Tallgrass Zombie Monkey beer. This was a new one for me and I loved it. They had at least 35 beers on tap to order. I like how they organized them on the menu in groups, so you knew what to order. Ex. If you are into IPAs, order from that section and try a new local brew. Lastly, I noticed they seem to do a lot of events. There is a taproom takeover, dinner with beer pairings, holiday craft market, and Santa coming this holiday season.

We really wanted to like this place but the entrees made it difficult.
The good: beer selection and ploughman’s plate.
The bad: First, my wife and I, out for a nice dinner and drinks, walked into a near empty restaurant and were sat next to 3 drunk, loud people in the bar area. All the while the dinning room was open with all tables set and ready. Why sit us there? Inexperience.
Like I said, the beer selection is strong and the ploughman’s plate was very good. Unfortunately, the entrees fell very flat. My wife had the Veggie Risotto which had NO flavor and tasted like it had sat and been reheated when ordered. Her salad came with clumps of dressing and WAY TOO much dressing. She only ate about a third of it. We did mention it at the end of the meal, but the waitress’s response was «you should have told me earlier, I could’ve fixed the issue». No issues were fixed or adjusted.
I got the British chicken kabob with side salad. Oddly enough there was very little dressing in the salad, if any. The kabob sandwich was on par with late night drunk food vs. gastro pub quality fare.
Stay away unless you’re looking for drinks and apps. Some patrons were clearly overserved and rowdy. And this ain’t your grandpa talkin. These folks were hammered.
We won’t be back.

Good stop for a quick lunch. Didn’t have a beer which seems to be the main focus of this stop just off 50^th and France. We were only 1 of 2 parties there for an early lunch and had the undivided attention of our server. I went with a pork sandwich and fries. Certainly tasty but nothing amazing. My mom had the curry cauliflower soup which she liked but was a bit too spicy. Great service and next time Ill have a beer which I know will up my rating to 4 – 5 starts.

I was pleasantly happy by the laid back and masculine atmosphere of this pub. Not expecting something this chill and welcoming in the hood and loved it. I had a few lemon drop martini’s and they even had Chopin vodka for me. The white wheat wit bear went down quickly and smoothly as well. I did have the little reasonably priced happy hour fish and chips. The coating on the little fishes is crispy and good. The fish itself was a little on the fishy side but I did not leave any behind. The fries were snarfed down and everybody left here just a little more refreshed and happy than when they entered. Good time Pig & Fiddle I will be back!

We wanted to try Pig & Fiddle for a while now so we stopped by for happy hour and sat at the bar. The bar was busy, but not overly crowded. We ordered drinks (I think the happy hour special was a discount on local beers — no idea on food since we never were offered a food menu) and almost immediately after the group behind us decided to start doing shots and buying them for the people sitting at the bar next to us — no big deal except the girl buying them kept loudly stating they were all getting ready for their shifts: they were the next group of waiters and bartenders for the night. After a few shots and beers the group started to get pretty loud and obnoxious (the one waitress about to work could barely stand straight) — we decided 1 drink was enough there. Definitely won’t make the mistake of stopping by there again.

I ordered the pierogis because I had never had them before. It was really good actually. I did anticipate more European dishes — most are American classics — but they all looked good. I also tried the olives from the sides menu. Really good — a green kind which was new to me. A good selection of beers and wines as well.

One of our absolute favorite bars/​restaurants. The food is really fantastic, and the beer selection is great. The last time I went I had a roasted hen with citrus and orzo, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. The time before I had the rabbit stew, and it was even better.
Prices are fine: we can usually get out for around $ 30 each, including appetizers, entrees, and drinks.
Atmosphere is nice. Fairly quiet and very comfortable.
The service has always been good– frequent enough stops and very friendly.

What a miss on so many levels. Some good beers but you can find that in most bars now — the rest of the experience was bad.

Ploughmans is not a traditional dish and served a bunch of blue cheeses from Wisconsin and low grade cheddar. No Branston pickle?
Chicken kebab what a waste of money and effort by the chefs sorry cooks. 6 small chunks of chicken would be fine IF it tastes good — it does not.
Burger and fries — poor. The fries were at longest 1 inch — they served us the dregs from the fryer disgusting.
Soup — some vegetables and a bunch of beef Bouillion at best — I would prefer to buy bull from cost co.
Service slow, prices too much for this pig slop. Never again.

This was our first visit. All in all, «meh» pretty much sums it up.
While the beer menu is impressive, and the food choices seem equally so, I suggest sticking to the beer.
We had the Brisket French Dip and the Chicken Bubble and Squeak. Our kiddos had grilled cheese.
When the food arrived we were eager to dig in, but the food was so overly salted as to be inedible. Add to that the crazy prices ($ 90?! for 2 adults and 2 children?!) and I don’t think that I’ll be coming back very soon.

Does Pig and Fiddle have a big olé beer list? Absolutely, yes. Should you come here for happy hour, meh. Not me. HH prices apply only to Minnesota brews, which is cool, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not actually a happy hour for me when buying a few beers and a side of fries runs me $ 30 pre-​tip. In my opinion, none of the happy hour apps are particularly shareable, and that’s what I’m looking for. A seven dollar pretzel doesn’t really feed a crew like a big olé pile of nachos, but whatever. We ordered fries and Reuben dip off the full price menu and the dip was tiny. Like could fit the whole thing in the palm of one hand tiny. Last time I came here I got HH fish and chips which was also miniscule on top of the fries being bottom of the bag reject fries. That time a friend had ordered artichoke dip which seems to have disappeared from the menu, maybe because it wasn’t spreadable like we experienced.
Anyway, it’s not my favorite place, but I would come if a picky beer snob friend wanted a place to chill that’s not the norm for us.

Had a wonderful time with a curry chicken kabob on naan, Belgian frites, and curry cauliflower soup! Great service! Wonderful local beer. Got Steel Toe No 7.

I’d say it’s rather fashionable, these days, to name American pubs reminiscent to those of European namesake. For those of us who’ve ventured across the ocean, watering holes indeed have some kind of cool, antiquated title. The title Pig & Fiddle is seemingly on par with their British brethren, but I was certainly wondering how they could claim such a namesake when Katy Perry was blasting through the speakers as I walked through the door.
This pub, er, bar, basically nailed the basics, concerning beer choices alone. Plenty to choose from but nothing out of the ordinary, considering my (limited) experience at other tap rooms. Indeed, the beer selection was somewhat elaborate, but I’d had virtually every pour at various places around town, so there were no revelations. It was a nice shop to grab a pint, but overall it didn’t score big points, again because of the music and general vibe. Great pubs, in other places, succeed by crafting ambiance that offer intimate and endless conversation; our efforts to do so were definitely hampered by the bravado of the bar.
Honestly, it’s a tough game bringing Olde World sensibilities to the strip mall soul of 50^th and France. At the moment, this place caters to the known. And that’s unfortunate. I did dig that the menus were printed day-​of, however, to represent the most current available suds.

It’s unfortunate to give this place 3 stars, actually. The atmosphere and menu have so much potential but the service is simply mediocre.
The women servers seemed more attentive and friendly then the males but not enough to compensate.
Experiencing inattentive half hearted service at more then one establishment, I have to wonder if it is a norm in Minneapolis, a city I’m not familiar with.
Nothing outright rude just an unhappy vibe from the male bartenders. Management problem? Disgruntlement in general? Not sure.
Customers in general also seemed a little miserable, (perhaps why they were at the bar.)
They have an impressive selection of local beers however but the gin martini I received was laden with ice crystals (what happens when you shake, not stir a martini… a rookie move).
The menu looks really cool! That’s the unfortunate part. Pickled eggs (which turned out «ok»), grilled cheese sandwich with bacon, etc… I would go back despite the rating but then again, I’m writing this review so maybe not… oops!

Our second visit to Pig & Fiddle reinforced many of my first impressions. The beer list was even more impressive this time around. Beer was fresh and tasty. I had the fish and chips this time, which were pretty good. I liked the fries, though they weren’t anything particularly amazing, and the fish was flaky, moist, hot and battered to perfection. Pretty decent. The atmosphere was again welcoming and relaxing on a very cold winter day.
The only quibble I had was that our waiter brought us a basket of bread, which we assumed was complimentary, like it is at just about any other restaurant. I was shocked to see a $ 3 charge for it on my bill. Of course, it’s just $ 3. And the bread was really yummy. I might have actually paid $ 3 for it. But my gripe was that our waiter didn’t tell us there was a charge and we didn’t order the bread in the first place. We ate it because he brought it to us. I talked this over with manager Josh, who could teach a class on customer service. He promised to address it with our waiter and offered to buy us a beer next time we are in. My guess is that it won’t be too long before we return.
